i’ve watched the wilds twice now and watching shelbys sensitivity to the secret about her teeth and how she acts like its such a big deal (and we see because its a metaphor for her sexuality in ep8) and getting upset with nora for telling her that the pen monologue is about disrespecting a parent…. SHELBY GOODKIND!!! she was so well written!

Im convinced that Toni and Shelby left each other on bad terms before they where rescued off of the island. The experiment was said to run on for three months so they still had a good chunk of time to spend together on the island. The three specific moments that made me think that their releationship is sort of rocky at the time of rescue is:

I wonder if Toni was actually refrencing her releationship with Shelby rather than the one she had with Reagan? Maybe she had hoped that what happened with Reagan wouldnt happen with Shelby? She seems sad in this moment..so maybe something happened that would make them end their releationship, or it at least it be pretty strained at that time.

Since each of the girls are retelling the events of what happened on the island and not what got them there (So shelby in that moment wasnt talking about the the backround story we where being shown). This made me believe that she is refrencing Toni rather than her friend Becca. 

And finally

It was mostly the tone of Shelbys voice that makes me think that something really did happen. She sort of said it in an angry way? I wonder why she said it in such an annoyed way when refrencing a girl that she has been with presumably for almost 3 months.

I might be looking into this too much, but I couldnt help noticing it I guess. Curious to know what y’all think.

this! i relate to toni’s anger issues and i have to say: it’s soooo tiring being angry all the time. it’s not nice. the feeling of shame after an anger explosion is so huge (and they did a good job showing that in the show). hurting yourself and the people around you and not knowing how to stop it is awful
