as yasha walked into this new town, the feeling felt all too familiar to her, comfort in the unfamiliar. she was all too used to jumping from place to place. some would call her untrusting, others would call her a flight risk, she saw it as being scared; she was scared of hurting the ones she loved and losing everything. yasha didn’t remember much of what happened prior to her coming into sallow hills, but she thinks she hurt someone, and that was enough for her to run until she couldn’t run anymore.
yasha looked up at a the sign that read “the white rabbit” and took a deep breath. looked like a place she could get a drink before she looked for a place to stay. she wanted to get her feet planted, but a drink couldn’t hurt. she walked in and sat at the bar. she dropped her backpack of her belongings next her her on the floor as she looked around. she ordered a whisky as she relaxed her shoulders, letting the tension in her shoulders go a bit.

yashaaaaaaa:
yasha didn’t know much about the town she was in. honestly, it was the first town in a few miles that looked not like a ghost town. she decided to finally stop running from what may or may not be chasing her, and sallow hills just happened to be the town. as for what the town was all about? well, yasha definitely had to do some asking around. maybe this was the universe telling her that she needed to meet new people? either way, she wasn’t doing it completely sober.
yasha carefully watched as the girl walked up to the bar and ordered. she let out a soft chuckle as the other girl struggled to get the shot down. “not a liquor girl?”yasha said, as the light scandinavian accent hung slight on the question. she graciously took the shot down, hissing slightly as she felt the sting on the cheap alcohol fall down her throat. “you know, there’s no shame in the sugary stuff.” yasha said as she looked over to the girl next to her. “the fruity kind are so refreshing, though i’m not quite sure you’ll get that here.” yasha said, taking in the more rustic looking pub.

"I usually go that route. I don't know why I wavered." She shook her head, waving off the empty glasses and pulling her soda toward her all in the same gesture. "I guess I thought this would be more fun, but I don't know why. As a general rule, alcohol doesn't have taste going for it." She wasn't ashamed of drinking something fruity or whatever, but the truth was that it all always tasted pretty much like alcohol to her. Not that her experience was all that vast. She'd never had the friends to party with in school. She and Simon had always been elbow deep in some catastrophe, and she wasn't sorry about that. At least she'd done something useful with her time.
She stuck a straw in her soda and took a grateful gulp, not feeling the need to add anything stronger to it. No, that single shot was plenty for her, for at least a year until she was silly enough to try this again. Her gaze flicked to the backpack near the girl's feet. It looked much more like a necessity than a fashion choice. "I'm Penelope. Did you just get to town?" She'd been far less prepared when she arrived. She'd had the clothes on her back, some American money in her pocket, her gemstone, and her mobile because it happened to be in her hand when she somehow vanished from California and arrived in Wales.

yasha nodded. “there’s no shame in that. i just am used to this stuff i suppose.” she said lifting the glass of whiskey and taking a sip. yasha came from a tribe where they had ale, whiskey, and more ale. there was a culture around drinking and now that she was long gone from that culture, she only drank once in a blue moon, usually with friends, or after a long day.
yasha nodded and ran her hand through her hair. “uh yeah, i actually just got in maybe ten minutes ago.” the girl had only the necessities in her pack, a few outfits, toothbrush, her sword and her book of pressed flowers. other than the book. she didn’t have many personal keep sakes. it was easier to travel light. “what should i know about the town? any people i need to stay away from or town curse?” yasha said with a soft laugh.
