Last night I submitted my final deadline for my second year of university. I then switched on the radio to hear some friends in a band being interviewed in the studio. The entire room was shouting "big ups" to another friend of mine, before name-checking yet another. This was BBC Radio 1. Success is everywhere.
This past year has been properly mental, in the absolute best way possible. Love to everyone.
This weekend, we're celebrating like it's all that matters.
Does this fall into the 'hype and B-Town' category? I don't care. Listen to it.

I'm interviewing Wide Eyed tonight. This is not going to go to plan.
House party Friday night; Five bands, an NME photographer stood on the radiator, crowdsurfers, even an attempted wall of death. Laced, Bad Moon, GOD DAMN, Dumb, and Wide Eyed full on rocked it. All credit to the gang at 117 for hosting, and to Wide Eyed for making sure I knew what's what.
I saw My Bloody Valentine on Friday night. No sound will live up to that night ever. Seeing them was the closest thing to a life changing experience you can have at a show. I've spent the time since then feeling a bit dazed. Also, the people in local bands are some of my favourite folk ever. I had a bit to drink and kept freaking about how good the gig was, but everyone else did the same so it's all roses. The sheer noise of it all - I couldn't swallow. I've never felt/heard/seen anything like it. it was incredible!
When I got to the venue there were staff handing out earplugs at the doors, and there was a guy stood with his back to the stage reading Racing Through the Dark: The Fall and Rise of David Millar.
Most of us went to the Sunflower Lounge in the hope that we could get in to Peace's "secret" 100 capacity show after the gig, but they'd already finished by the time we got there. I don't even care.
Nothing's the same. I want to go back. Someone tell me they can take me to another of MBV's shows?
Superfood and Laced are my new favourite bands. I'd put a link to their music but I don't think there is one. Fall Out Boy were INCREDIBLE in a 500 capacity venue. Deap Vally have the best hair. Drenge are lovely, lovely guys. Wolf Alice rock real hard. Wide Eyed are incredible.
For the first time in a while I have nothing to go out and do, and nowhere to be all weekend. This coincides with assessments. I suppose that's a good thing. This is procrastination.
I was meant to be going to a gig a friend was putting on tonight, but it got cancelled. The gig I was meant to be shooting at on Friday also got cancelled. But, since Drenge dropped out of the Liverpool date of their co-headline tour with Deap Vally, they got me guestlist +1 for Birmingham. I love them.
