I’m attracted to concepts, not bodies or people.
It’s 9:30 am on a Monday, my regularly-scheduled time for a workout. Like always, I pad across the floor of the living room, roll out the yoga mat, arrange the dumbbells, and flip open my laptop to find a follow-along strength training video on YouTube. The algorithm knows my patterns and proclivities. Populating the first row of content is a perfect encapsulation of my weekday psyche: a thirty-minute shoulders and abs video, a fresh episode of The Bald and the Beautiful to listen to while I complete it, and for relaxing afterward, a 60-minute livestream in which a sweet-faced middle-aged mother named Sammie is repeatedly dropped into a hypnotic trance and made to repeat mantras of obedience and servitude by her loving hypnotist and boyfriend. I love all the sides of hypnotized Sammie: when she is made to be a giggling maid, and when she dons fuzzy ears and mewls like a cat; when she devotedly calls her hypnotist Master and erases her memories for him, and when she freezes, smilingly, into a happy doll begging to be played with. I’ve watched all of her hours-long livestreams in their entirety, some of them multiple times, her vacant, entranced stares and stiff, robotic movements sending my own body roaring into a satisfied climax, sometimes without even touching myself. But I am not attracted to Sammie at all. In fact, I’m not at all attracted to women. To the extent that my sexuality involves making contact with other people, I’m a gay man, exclusively interested in other queer men. But to even bother with that distinction confuses things a bit, because ultimately my sexual orientation does not hinge upon people’s identities or bodies. Though I can admire the beauty of all kinds of people, and even feel a handsome man igniting my curiosity at times, ultimately I’m just not really “into” human beings at all. What I’m into is hypnosis. Or mind control, brainwashing, and conditioning, if you like. Hypnosis is the bedrock that holds my psychosexual landscape together; without it any potential engagement in sex slips, and falls apart into nothing. Hypnosis is the anchor that keeps my insatiable libido grounded; without it, any possibility of having satisfying sex floats away, and my mind dissociates from the event as it’s happening. I’m a deeply sexual person, and I always have been. I discovered masturbation early, at around four or five, and took part in it actively, getting caught a few times as a kid before I learned to sequester into my bedroom for it early in the morning and late at night. Beginning in my teen years, I got into the habit of pleasuring myself for between an hour and a half to two hours per day, and that rate has continued throughout much of my adult life. And yet, I am also asexual — because as much as my body craves sexual release, and as often as I pursue sex, my drive has no relationship to how other people look, or anything else about them, and my release doesn’t need to involve any specific sexual activities at all. Hypnosis is sex to me. Even in its most stagey and sterile forms, I find it inescapably erotic — and that leaves sex itself as just some boring party trick. You can touch me, or you can perform a series of backflips in front of me on the floor; either way I’ll tell you that you’ve done a very impressive job and all but it will not make me cum.

trans ace
What ace people choose to do with their bodies is about as much your business as what anyone else does with their body is, which is to say not at all!! It’s none of your business!!
Aces can enjoy sex.
If you don’t understand that the nervous system works independently of your sexual orientation, or that a person’s environment and/or psychology can influence their ideas and feelings of sex, then you are too immature for deep, nuaced sex conversations.
i thought asexuality was a lack of sexual attraction though? if you enjoy sex there is some form of sexual attraction, so that person wouldnt be ace right?
You don’t need to be attracted to someone to enjoy sex with them.
sexual attraction is needed to have sex with someone. how else would yo uget turned on??? or else it is self harm/trauma related and it is really really bad to promote that
Lol, no you don’t, all you need is informed consent. You can get turned on by foreplay or pre sex masturbation, neurological stimulation in general. There are many way to have healthy sex. Everyone is different, what is good for you may not interest someone else. As long as we respect boundaries and make sure that we are compatible with our partners, then everything should be fine.
i dont understand how you can get turned on if you dont find the person you’re having sex with is attractive ? like how else are u getting wet/hard/enjoying it?
Pre sex preparation. Just because you don't understand it, does not make it impossible. This is my way of doing things, I enjoy this way, and you have your way of doing things. It's all valid.

being a guy in love with a guy is not always cute or romantic or soft or tender. sometimes it's pushing your boyfriend's face away yelling because you have viral bronchitis and he keeps trying to kiss you knowing this because he's a himbo with no sense of self preservation
update: he got bronchitis! you'll never guess how
i heard y’all like infographics, so i thought i’d make a little something about us oriented aroaces!! 💙 💙 💙
Uber’s The Many Voices of Pride: Yasmin’s Story (Asexuality)
The LGBT+ community is made of many different identities, all of which are as valid and important as the others, and every single one deserves to fly their flag with pride.
For Pride 2019, PinkNews has teamed with Uber to tell stories that show how important visibility is to a diverse rainbow of sexual and gender identities.
This is Yasmin’s story…
How do you identify?
I identify as asexual and aromantic. Asexual means you don’t experience sexual attraction or you experience a very low degree of sexual attraction.
It’s a spectrum, so some people do experience it a bit more than others. Aromantic means when you don’t experience romantic attraction either.
When did you first understand what it means to be asexual or aromantic?
I noticed it around the time everyone’s hormones kicked in and boys and girls started to fancy each other. I assumed this would kick in for me but it didn’t and people started to take notice.
It was only when people started questioning me about it, that I had to start working out what was different about me.
Did you know anyone else like you?
The only time I saw people sort of like me represented in the media was bad guys in movies — it’s usually the awkward ones with no social skills who don’t experience sexual attraction.
I couldn’t relate to those characters and the unfortunate thing is that it shaped other people’s views of what asexual and aromantic people must be like, and I had to battle against those stereotypes.
If you don’t experience sexual attraction or romantic attraction, society teaches you that there must be something severely lacking in your mind and in your life.
How important is it for representation at Pride?
There is definitely a lack of asexual representation at Pride. Unfortunately there’s still a debate within the wider queer community about whether we’re supposed to be included, whether the A is for us, and whether we should be at Pride.
So it’s something which needs to be improved.
I definitely still support Pride as it is today and I think in doing that I bring the representation for asexual people that I’ve always wanted to see at Pride.
What does the asexual flag mean to you?
For me, the flag is our unifying symbol. If I ever see that flag flying I know there is someone I can relate to.
It doesn’t matter how old they are, what ethnicity they are, what nationality they are, how long they’ve know they are asexual for or where they are on the spectrum, it’s just a big umbrella for everybody.
