Obama has been supporting fracking hard. Fracking is when natural gas is extracted from deep shale beds. A chemical solution is pumped into the ground, extracting the desired materials. This can contaminate drinking water for entire towns, and has in 37 states at least. In addition to crippling health effects from bad water, there is methane escaping from the ground at unregulated rates and streams and rivers are suffering as well. This gas can come up through the kitchen sink and actually ignite by placing a lighter near your faucet. DANGEROUS, and absurd! Basically, if there is an area known to have natural gas deposits, a private company will offer hefty sums to buy off large amounts of land to people that live there. Sometimes large portions of towns are completely bought out and outfitted with alternative water supplies, and hush money. It ruins the land from the inside out, extracting substances that take millions of years to make, and releasing gases that are contributors to global warming.

Monsanto Protection Act. BOOOO

It would be a really positive thing if people realized the gravity of the issue when it comes to genetically modified organisms. GMO's make waves in the eco system. Even with proven adverse health effects, we can do nothing as of now to stop the sale of GMOs, because of the Monsanto Protection act. We are locked into a future where millions WILL feel the effects of this without increased awareness. If you know how to avoid less favorable products for cheap, please pass that knowledge on to someone in a fun way like cooking dinner together or something, its not that hard and you feel great! If you can read this online you can find out more information about the health affects associated with GMO's and why they should be labeled. The reasons are multifaceted.
