God put me on the Earth for the bit
You know, all three times Palpatine took an L it was because he couldn't just couldn't stop jizzing lightning. In fact, with the exception of the bit where he tries a little burst and Yoda just catches it, every time he does it it breaks bad for him in some way cause he's just to much of a sicko to stop electro-jaculating in time. Compare this to the dignified, almost regal, force lightning emanations of Count Dooku.
Don't really have a point, but sometimes you just gotta post about Sheev Palpatine.
No, no. Heās right.
Joyous Wet Beast Wednesday to those who observe.
And what a beast it is
So one day a dwarf is talking to a human and finally realizes that when humans say woman, they generally mean āperson who is theoretically capable of childbirthā because for whatever reason, humans assign social expectations based genital differences. (What a fucked up culture, the dwarf thinks.) But hey, better communication! So the next time the dwarf introduces theirself, they say, oh, by the way, I am what you call a āwoman.ā
And the trade negotiations just stop. They just stop cold. The tall people insist on speaking to the man, they insist on talking to the lady dwarf about all sorts of irrelevant bullshit, like recipes and childrearing and perfume
so the dwarf goes back home, enraged
and is like āBTW guess what happened, weāre all just going to be men forever now as far as the tall ones are concernedā
and everyone is justly horrified at this barbarism but they all agree to do whateverĀ it takes to squeeze those tall bastards for all the resources they are worth
and the dwarves get surlier, and the trade agreements less generous
and the tall people are all āwhat a miserable and greedy raceā
but really theyāre just still nursing a grudge about how goddamn backwards and sexist the tall people are
because their best negotiator, one of their sacred cave people, got snubbed the instant she said she was capable of childbirth - and a mortal insult like that can never be forgiven
Because Piās tags are great:
#yes goodĀ #personal headcanon: dwarves have fundamentally misunderstood human pronoun usageĀ #and gender rolesĀ #they are very perplexed by itĀ #eventually they went āfuck it apparently āheā is the correct wordāĀ #āitās their language and they keep using it for usāĀ #so then you have this situation where dwarves are cognizant of the words āmotherā and āwifeāĀ #but not the usual use of āsheā secondary headcanon specific to Tolkien dwarvesĀ #dwarves that choose to bear children are held in high regardĀ #because they are making new dwarves it is the ultimate craftĀ #thatās what mahal did you made a new personĀ #it is very impressiveĀ #everyone is impressed
Just as an additional thought, we hear that women dwarves generally stay within the mountain and are a protected, guarded subset of the dwarves. Thereās not many of them, so thereās an implication that women dwarves are too precious to beĀ allowed out.
But what if this too is a mistranslation? What if the dwarves were talking to the Men and when asked āwhere are all your women?ā they hit a wall. They whisper amongst themselves, and eventually come back with a question, āWhatās a woman?ā The Men are incredulous.
āWhy, the members of your race that bear children, of course!āĀ
More dwarven whispering.
They reach the conclusion that Men mean dwarvesĀ who are currently pregnant. Well! Of course those dwarves are currently safe within the mountain, well cared for and generally loathe to travel until the child is born. The Men take this to mean thatĀ all dwarven women are discouraged from traveling, and that their primary purpose is childbearing. Dwarves find this a satisfactory outcome, especially with the way Men treat their women, and so even when the misunderstanding becomes clear to them they never correct it.
I like these. I like these a lot.
@silentlycrazy ās tags because theyāre a great addition to this.
i absolutely love this whole post.
This kinda implies that making a child and raising a child are considered two different crafts if heās going back to adventuring after just one year. Same as how some might specialize in refining raw material, while others make things out of the stuff that has already been refined to some extent.
Iām picturing a Childcrafterās Guild whose craft consists of raising children to such an age that they might start an apprenticeship, and finding suitable mentors to introduce the children to. They also advise and assist any of their people who are attempting such a project on their own and provide classes as needed. Nothing good comes of anyone attempting a complex craft without proper instruction after all.
Since children are seen as something of a communal project the concept of āparentsā is another one that doesnāt have a clear translation into dwarven culture. Eventually they figure out that while the literal translation is āthe one who brought you into the worldā, functionally itās used to refer to a relationship similar to that of Master and Apprentice, except for some strange reason that relationship is assigned at birth with no attempt made at checking for compatibility.

almost two years later and i will still yell about how dean deserved to get out until iām blue in the face. he was a hunter for 99% of his life, lost so many people to the job including himself by dying 112 times. he had always dreamed of the white picket fence, apple pie life, drinking on a beach somewhere. he wanted to settle down, be a freaking regular person once in his life and after finding out that he actually had never had any say in the matter with anything he did, and defeating literal god at the expense of his angel, HE DESERVED TO GET OUT.none of thisĀ āguns blazingā crap bc in the end he didnāt even get that. he got 8 inches of rebar in his spine while fighting the fucking monster of the week.Ā
after chuck they should have bowed out. their adopted son was god now, they were off the hook. the all deserved a beach vacation. toes in the sand, wearing those tacky dad shirts and cargo shorts, sipping on a fruity drink in a fun glass with a little umbrella. peace. that is what they should have gotten. and after their getaway dean and sam could have FINALLY worked out their co-dependance issues and gotten separate houses, separate lives for once. sam and eileen, dean and cas. peace. they get normal jobs, start making actual money, start a family idk. do you know how badly it pains me that dean never got to experience actually being a girl!dad??? bro that would have been his freaking dream job. cooking and baking all the time, cas reading and probably attending to his incredible garden bc this is my brain and i can do whatever i want with this. sam. eileen, jack all coming over for family dinners now and then, actually getting to celebrate the holidays. peace.Ā
dean gets to live the life he always dreamed of and never thought he deserved (spoiler alert, he does deserve it). Alive and at peace with the people left he loves the most in this world. growing old and being buried somewhere, instead of salted and burned.Ā
but seeing as he cant have all that⦠I hope he has some version of this in heaven.Ā Ā Ā Ā
Why canāt I just move on from the ending of Supernatural? Thatās the question Iāve been asking myself for⦠well⦠years now š„²
I watch a lot of shows, Iām not a writer but Iām used to pay attention to the narrative, the subtext and I often know where the story is going.
And I was SO sure I had it right with Dean and Castielās relationship. I had been a casual fan. I watched all the seasons but most of them not right away. I was decently invested. And then season 14 and season 15 hit me in the face, and I saw that incredible love story, Destiel. Or so I thought.
I rewatched most episodes and it felt like an awakening. And I followed each episode of season 15 religiously, deconstructing the lines, the music, the subtext.
I felt amazing, like a little kid about to open a present. Couldnāt wait for the finale. Partly because it all made me feel special, made me feel like I had seen it, something carefully hidden between the lines. Glaringly obvious for observant fans like me. And so many people would not see it coming. How surprised (and hopefully happy) they would be to see Destiel happening at the end of the season!!! But I knew, I saw, i expected. I could barely contain my excitement.
Then I watched the finale. I kept vibrating with joy and, I have to admit, smugness š during half the episode. I though that it was pretty bad and cliche because it was supposed to be. But that twist, that reunion, Destiel, would blow our mind. The show would leave an everlasting mark on history of TV. We were about to witness an ending for the Ages. To say that it didnāt go well is an understatement. I guess Iāll use a euphemism and say that the ending⦠defied my expectation?
By the end of the finale, my heart was in my throat. I was so disappointed. Literally felt the same as having to come to term with my lover cheating on me. I felt so stupid.
I canāt really let it go, thereās a big part of me that still think that I was right. It was the story. Something must have happened. Now itās been years, and it still makes me feel small and sad. I need to hear that Iām not delusional to move on.
i just reached swan song in my rewatch.
if spn ended here⦠iād be happy. more than. itās a beautiful and bittersweet closure to a heart ache of a show. it wraps everything up beautifully. it takes sam, who viewed himself as a monster all his life, who was constantly labelled by everyone around him as a powerless junkie, and it lets him take over. hell, even SAM said himself that he views himself as less than everyone else. he knows his weaknesses and his failures yet he still said yes. he still fought. and in the end, it was his HUMANITY that brought him back. it was dean and the small memories of happiness that he holds so tight. sam just learnt that his entire LIFE was a lie orchestrated by azazelā but who he is? his family? dean? thatās all his. so in that last moment, by having sam regain control, itās really the ultimate statement of humanity. he is not a monster. he is so very human that he fought the devil and won. isnāt that amazing??
also⦠dean in the aftermath. even though he lived through the apocalypse and lost his whole fucking world in one fell swoop, he kept his promise. he did what sam asked of him. he shed the cyclic revenge-fury-anger fate that his father instilled in him and he broke free. he let go, despite how much it broke him inside. every time i think about it, it makes my entire body ache. the sheer amount of grief and emotion that dean must harbour is unfathomable. the pressure he is under is impossibly crushing. but he keeps going on. he lives. he does it one day at a time, and he does it in his brotherās memory.
there is just something so fucking heartbreaking about that, about dean who will never fill the hole in his chest, who will never stop missing sam and seeing him in his dreams and wondering what if but who CHOSES to live. who choses to build up from ground fucking zero and make something of the life that sam fought for. to honour his last dying wish even if it killed him inside because he can finally acknowledge that he is more than samās keeper. he is his brother. he respects and trusts him, and he treats him like his own person. that speaks VOLUMES to deanās character development, because never in my wildest dreams could i imagine a dean winchester who lets sam go BUT THIS DEAN DOES. this dean not only lets sam go but does so with pride and dignity and honour for who he was. thatās just mindblowing to me. s5 did such a PHENOMENAL job at wrapping up spn.
this isnāt to say that the latter seasons are all bad. itās just that spn has traded so many hands throughout its life that the show that it ended as is virtually unrecognizable from the show it started as. thatās just a true fact. supernatural changed after seasons 1-5. it grew out into something new. i have a shit ton of love and respect for that in its own rightā but og supernatural? kripke supernatural? the blood, grit, gore and gothic americana supernatural that i grew up on? in my mind, that ends with swan song. that supernatural is itās own little story. everything after is an addendum, a sequel. the original story of sam and dean ends with that shot of dean with lisa and ben having dinner. the story ends with sam sacrificing himself for the world and proving without a doubt that he is good and human along the way. it ends on a note of bittersweet hope and raw grief that bleeds all the way down to your core but soothes the wounds in the aftermath, because no matter how much it hurts, itās closure. for sam, and for dean.
Aziraphale you bitch.

Sometimes I have a lot of trouble reading anything. Like, Iāll be reading something that Iām really interested in and that I do, in fact, want to be reading, but my brain saysĀ āActually, this single word in the middle of the sentence youāre trying to pay attention to reminds me of this other, totally unrelated thingā and twenty minutes later Iām staring blankly through my screen as my brain goes off on a tangent that by now has nothing to do with the text. Like please!!! I want to pay attention!!
