The male’s response seemed as though it would bring about only one response from those who heard it, a frown; which Grace wore with true irritation. “You wouldn’t be any good at solving mysteries and want to direct that suffering onto people who deserve it, would you?”

Hyunki chose to ignore her frown, as he often did with most people. “Solving mysteries, not particularly. Directing suffering, especially onto people who deserve it? That’s up my alley.”

“Great… Just great. What kind of imbecile finds joy out of jamming every printer in the school? And right before my research project is due.” Graced heaved a sigh, casting a glance at the person beside her.

“Easy, someone who doesn’t have a research project and likes to watch others suffer,” he said, pausing. “Like me. But in this case it wasn’t me, so that one’s still a mystery.”

“Daw, that’s sweet.” She grinned as he spoke about his mother. “It sounds like she cares a lot. Are you two close?” She asked curiously as she took the pot and looked at it for a second. She looked at it curiously and even smelled it for a second before flopping down and rubbing it on some bites that were already on her legs. “That’s really cool. What’s in it?” She mused as she looked at it.

“Not really. She just put in what she thought was usual motherly things when I was leaving. To be honest I think she had to google what that entailed,” he replied honestly and shrugged lightly. He watched as she sniffed at the cream and immediately started applying it, before giving another shrug with her question. “Not sure exactly, some herbal stuff though.”

“Hell yeah. At first it feels like you’ve got a lot of energy, then after a bit you feel just… good. Like you feel on top of the world. It’s fucking fantastic. Here,” she said as she reached into her jean’s pocket to pull out a little bag with a few little colored pills inside. She took one from the bag and held it out for him. “Wanna try?”

“How long does this energy last? Am I likely to feel inclined to go for a hike? Although if I feel good it might be a decent one.” He watched her reach into her pocket and pull out the packet and when the pill was held in front of him he stared for a moment, before reaching out. “I guess I’ll give it a go.”

“You’re seriously a lifesaver. So prepared.” She grinned thankfully as she followed. “I was hoping to go hiking soon, but there’s no way I’d be able to without it.”

“Nah, I’m not prepared, my mother is. I just haven’t unpacked the bag... ever. Which I now realise was a really long time ago and is a little embarrassing.” When they reach the tent he pops inside, rummaging through his belongings and returning with two items. “Bug spray. And this pot here is traditional Korean medicine for itches. Just rub some on.”

“Could we go get it, if you don’t mind. I’m already so itchy and I feel like I’m getting eaten alive.”

“Yeah, sure,” he started, inclining his head to tell her to follow him. “There’s a chance I have something for the itching too.”

“It’s not the worst failure. I just like to have fun, babe.” She nudged him playfully. “You don’t know what MDMA is? It’s also known as Molly or Ecstasy too. Take it with me! It’s a fun experience.”

“Okay, maybe not the worst. But you’re definitely not going to be having an easy weekend,” he said, shifting slightly with the nudge. “Oh, uh. Promise it’s fun?”

He looked at her suspiciously, narrowing his eyes. “Your going easy has failed and we’ve only just got everything set up.” He paused. “What’s MDMA?”

“Uh, sure. It’s in my tent though.”

Eden smiled widely and laughed. “Well then I’ll consider myself lucky then.” Her smile stayed present as she saw his demeanor lighten at the mention of his home town. It was really sweet to see people get happy about the place they called home to her. “That’s lovely. I really hope to visit there one day. What should be on my Seoul bucket list though? Other than street food and the Han River?”

“You should, definitely,” he said, making it vague as to whether he was joking or not. Hyunki paused with her question, a little surprised she was actually interested and deciding to give it some proper thought. “Well... I mean it depends on what kind of stuff you’re into. There’s Namsan Tower, Lotte World theme park, animal cafes, Myeongdong shopping area. There’s a bunch of stuff.”

Beau giggled at his friend’s annoyance. “Oh hush. She’ll be thrilled that you bought a drink for her and it’s just a simple ice breaker. Soon she’ll be waltzing herself over here to say hello to you. Is that sooo bad Hyunki?” He smiled lightly looking over to the girl who was now making her way over. “Don’t act like a spiteful turd, and smile and say hello. That usually helps.” The girl pushed her presence in between the two men looking over Hyunki with big blue eyes as she placed the shot that was ordered for her on the counter.

“Sorry, but I don’t drink hard liquor.” She cracked a grin as Beau looked at his friend from over her shoulder mouthing ‘don’t fucking blow this’. “But if you are willing to share some wine with me I’ll be willing to speak a little with you and your friend here.”

“Well... I guess not,” he admitted, his eyes widening at his friend when he became aware of the fact that the girl was, indeed walking over. She shouldered her way, breaking his stare at the boy and he focused on her instead, his gaze flickering to the shot which was still full.

Hyunki had to resist the urge to roll his eyes as he caught Beau mouthing at him and he nodded at the woman. “Wine? Sure, what type? It’s on me,” he asked, trying to take the advice and smile.
