First Date // Damon and Lee
To say Lee was in a good mood would be an understatement. Was everything going perfectly in her life? No. But she was still very happy. Bella had returned, and even if she had unfortunately suffered a near-death experience, at least she was alive. Sienna and Aaron seemed to be growing stronger together, Amber was acting more sane than she had been while on her rampage several nights before, Nick was off at college, and she was going to have her first date with Damon. Maybe to some people - the judgmental residents of Mystic Falls posing no exception - it would seem odd that, for two people who had confessed their love for one another months ago, they were going on their first date now, but she couldn't care less about what everyone else thought, being too excited to question it. Now, putting on her shoes and giving her hair one last brush, Lee smiled to herself and crossed through the hallways and over into the living room, plopping down on the sofa and flipping through a magazine as she waited for Damon to arrive.
No way.
You actually go to the bar?
Whyâs that?
Not very often, no. I've been occasionally, though only when people ask me to go with them. I'm not a lone bar-goer or anything.
A) The bartenders in this town are rubbish, B) you do look around 21, though you are 25, and C) you're very beautiful, which I'm sure would distract many people.
No way.
Well, yes, there is no secret that the bartenders here are lazy bastards who go off of their own whim instead of checking IDs.
But oh well, I donât have one anyways.
That's very true. I look 17, and they don't even bat an eye.
I don't think anyone would turn down giving you a drink, Auntie Amber.
No way.
Mystic Falls is having a BOGO sale on alcohol!
It's like they encourage underage drinking in this town.
Safe Again // Bella and Lee
Bella had moved from her bed to the couch sometime during the day. All she did was sit there, something she seemed to be doing recently because thatâs all she felt like doing. She didnât know how to function with the mix of emotions she had since Nick dumped her. To add onto that she almost diedâŠagain and that had taken a toll on her emotionally too. All the feelings that seemed to want her suffocated she just bottled up and tried to forget about them which was failing miserably. The trip to Bulgaria was supposed to give her a chance to breath and straighten her thoughts, but she was more confused, exhausted, and frustrated than ever. Where was a restart button when she needed it?
Bella barely heard Lee come in and she jumped when she felt Leeâs arms around her. She only smiled softly and hugged her daughter back. She didnât exchange words with Lee, she didnât feel like it yet. She could sit there with her daughter all day without a word spoken between them and in the end sheâd leave the room happier than before. Bella let Lee go and let out a heavy sigh before she reached for the ice cream. She took her time to eat a few spoonfuls of ice cream before she finally felt like talking. âWhat happened while I was gone?â She said quietly with a curious look. For a town where nothing happened Mystic had a lot of gossip, if that made any sense.
She wasn't expecting Bella to say anything and, truthfully, wasn't in the mood to just launch into conversation herself. Bad things had happened recently - too many bad things - and the reassurance that Bella was alive was more than enough in the moment. When they let go of one another, Lee moved to sit back on the couch and just eyed her mother calmly, pausing as she started eating some ice cream. It had been much too long since they'd had any sort of mother/daughter bonding time, but, right now, it seemed like they were more in need of friendly comforting time as a result of all of the chaos in their lives.Â
Letting out a sigh, she tried to think about what Bella had missed. "Not much," she admitted softly, crossing her legs as she searched for something that she might not have learned about. "Amber's... not doing to well, but I think she'll be okay," Lee said cautiously, not entirely sure what was going on with her friend, but not needing to expose her angry spurt from the previous night if she was going to just grow past it. She bit her lip, remembering happily that she and Nick had planned to go to Disneyworld and that Damon had asked her on their first date, but not quite sure if this was the right time to tell Bella these things, so soon after she and Nick had ended things. "This town is just as busily boring as always," she finally said with a shrug. "So, are you up for telling me what happened, or would you prefer we thought about other things?" Lee eyed her friend cautiously.
Reconciliation // Amber and Lee
Amber makes a tiny mental note to herself to remind her to do this more often. It was all part of her âtwelve step planâ to becoming somewhat sane again. Step one, actually be happy and not attempt to be. As for the rest of the steps, she had yet to figure those out. With a nod she unfolds the bag and shakes it around so that it opens up. âYou can throw away all the magazines and bottles.â she knew how some people liked to keep their empty bottles of alcohol for reusing, but she couldnât give less a damn about bottles. Moving to one corner of the room, she doesnât bother to check what sheâs grabbing before she shovels things into the bag with her arms, until the bag was already filled. And only a small portion of the floor was visible now, âHey look, I forgot my floors were hardwood and not carpet.â Amber chuckles before tying the bag. She hurries to the kitchen and brings the entire box of trashbags before bringing them back and tossing them on the couch, pulling out a second one.
Taking note of what Amber said about magazines and bottles, she nodded and then got to work. At first she went at a normal pace, stuffing the first bag full and looking at the ground with a nearly appreciative smile. Her attention was diverted when Amber spoke, and she looked up with a slight laugh, "they're even more beautiful than you remembered." It was these comments, and, even more importantly, the spark in her friend's eye, that Lee had missed the most. She had just missed Amber, and all of the life and determination she held within her. Once they had the whole box of trash bags nearby, Lee grabbed one and then decided they weren't making much small talk, and sped up, not as fast as she could go, but moving quickly enough that the pace became steadier, at least with this room. "Wow, look at that," Lee smiled. The floor was visible, save for under the piles they'd created and where the furniture sat, though nothing was very organized yet, which they'd have to work on for a while. "The sorting part I'll help you with, but it'll very much be up to you to figure out what's more sentimental, what can be moved to another room, and so on." With a tiny smile of acknowledgement, she tied the top of her bag, adding it to the pile that was accumulating.
Reconciliation // Amber and Lee
Amber tries to keep her face serious as Lee is trying to explain herself, obviously not wanting to upset her. She knew that Amber was hanging on by a thread, and didnât want anything to cut that thread, especially not one of her comments. A smile finally curls at Amberâs lips before she is chuckling at her French-speaking friend. âItâs alright, Lee.â She grins before nodding and looking out into the living room. It wasnât a very big space, but the mess could at least cover all the floors, walls, and the ceiling in that room alone. Still noticing that she was smiling, Amber tones it down a bit. Ever since the previous night with Bane, things for Amber were a bit better. Of course things between them were still confusing, but that couldnât bring Amber down, not right now anyways. âOkay.â Amber hesitates before stepping through the trash, heading towards the kitchen and returning with two garbage bags. âI suppose weâll need these, too?â
When she sees the smile upon her friend's face, Lee practically lets out a sigh of relief, seeing that it's genuine and not one of attempted condolence. She noticed that Amber seems particularly happy today, not only in contrast to her raging self the earlier night, while she was on some sort of near-emotionless rampage, but in contrast to just her usual friendly and bubbly self. Something good must have happened recently, but if Amber wanted to talk about it, then Amber could bring it up, because Lee was not about to pry. Nodding as Amber returns with garbage bags, she nods, "great idea. So I figure we can each go around the room and sort everything. All trash can go immediately in the bags, and we can stack the other stuff in piles of related items. After that we can find a proper place for all of your items."
Boredom sucks.
Donât I always?
No need. My imagination is doing justice. Although Iâm pretty sure youâd look good in anything, really.
That would be a rhetorical question.
Well don't let your imagination get too carried away yet, Mr. Salvatore. Aw, thank you. You most likely would, too.
Boredom sucks.
Thatâs more like it.
Hot.
You knew that was true all along.
We'll see if you think so tomorrow, it seems.
Reconciliation // Amber and Lee
There was something in those hazy brown eyes that Lee was hiding from her, and she could tell. It was as if there wasâŠ. sadness? Anger? Confusion? Either way, Amber did not the look she held with the girl, for it spelled nothing but argument- being written all over her face. Normally Amber would ignore those things, those expressions, because she was supposed to hate everyone. So why should she care what anyone felt? But⊠Amber knew that she couldnât just not care for Lee, of all people. She was the one exception. âNo, my parentâs never taught me muchâŠâ Amber winces as the comment, even though she knew Lee hadnât thought that out before she had asked that. The brunette knew that her friend would never intentionally say that to her. It was probably just whatever was distracting her.
It was unclear how this visit was going to pan out. There was clearly something wrong with Amber, and as much as Lee hoped it would disappear or they could work around it or something, she wasn't sure what was going on, and therefore didn't know what to do. Taking this knowledge, she thrust it into the back of her mind and attempted to focus on things that involved little emotions and little acknowledgement of the fact that her mother was missing and that her close friend had lost the love of her life and was now walking on the edge, it seemed. "Oh, I just meant over all of the years you've been alive, but-" Amber's comment fully sunk in and she sighed, glancing down at the ground for a moment before forcing herself to meet the Italian woman's gaze. "I'm sorry, Amber, I didn't mean it like that." Biting her lip sadly, she hoped they could pass over this. "I, um," Lee cleared her throat. "Why don't we go room by room? Organization is key, and any actual cleaning shouldn't take too long. We can start with the living room, since we're practically there already."
Boredom sucks.
Might?
Oh, and bring a bathing suit.
Absolutely do.
That I can manage. I just got a new one, in fact.
