Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER 2014 | dir. The Russo Brothers
Its funny how the MCU stripped away everything that made Hawkeye an unique and interesting character in the comics and just made him a boring white guy with a family. He was a circus freak, thats why he is so acrobatic and loud mouthed, he was an entertainer, and then a villain for a little bit, and then an avenger. But MCU Hawkeye is the most wet blankst of a character ever. Its surprising how many people like him.
This.
The Pitt’s misogyny is interesting, really, because the women have screen time. They’re competent doctors. They are well-written in a general sense, i.e. people with dimension and personality. The misogyny is deeper than any of that, and it’s harder to see: the writers reach for biology when they want to give a woman depth because biology is where they think women’s depth lives. The show casts women — and multiple women of color, in particular — in prominent roles and then gives them stories about their uteruses, their eggs, their panic attacks, their bleeding. All the while, The Pitt gives men stories about what it means to lead and what integrity costs. <...> The show has the same instinct: it can see gender bias when an EMT does it, but it cannot see gender bias when its own writers do it. <...> Each one of these reveals the same default: competence is male, and women who demonstrate it earn his surprise.

one of the best pieces of writing I’ve ever read, and the show analysis is absolutely spot on. highly recommend putting any biases aside and actually giving this a read.

i gotta remember this
im being so brave about this
“oh. oh” in writing is a treasure. I will never stop using it and cherishing it.

I’m actually done skirting around the subject the fact that marvel ruined steve and bucky’s relationship was purposefully CRUEL. idgaf whether or not u liked the ship or not, but the mcu had established that steve rogers and bucky barnes loved each other to the point that only the grim reaper itself could separate them. their tagline was “til the end of the line” = til death do us part. they’d rather die (‘no not without you!’ and steve letting the winter beat him unconscious) than leave the other behind. they’d been frozen for the better part of a century — steve in the ice and bucky in cryo — and they still found their way back to each other. bucky broke thru 70 years of brainwashing torture and programming at the sight of his best friend. steve dropped the shield twice and finally found his way back to being steve rogers & not just captain america. they’d kicked screamed and crawled thru hell to each other and they deserved to be happy!!! it thematically made sense to let them be HAPPY! to go to baseball games and bitch about the dodgers moving to LA, to watch their favorite books as movies, to finally see the grand canyon. ending their relationship w steve leaving bucky alone in the future was a disservice to ten years of film precedent and DECADES of comics. steve rogers, no matter the circumstance, would not leave bucky. not til the day he died. & quite frankly I’m sick of the narrative that we were delusional shippers for being upset that their friendship was sent thru a wood chipper
no one genuinely thought they’d kiss or hold hand or blah blah blah but their relationship was a defining and consistent part of their core……….and somehow the mcu couldn’t even let them remain friends
Fuuuuck dude I got drunk last night and tried to take down the villain on my own and now he’s texting me some ‘I’m the only one allowed to defeat you’ shit bro what do I do
Man he just yelled ‘I want him alive’ to his goons, it’s so over.
hey, did you know that the world is a better place because of your creations and art and writing, no matter how niche or how many people see it
Hello winterhawk people,, here’s a comic I did two years ago that I never finished!
Enjoy
