In your opinion, what was each character’s best season? (Both TO and TVD characters)
This is so hard but I tried to do everyone I could think of:
Elijah Mikaelson - Season 2 of TVD and Season 2 of TO
It is a truth universally acknowledged, Elijah will own a Season 2. His entrance in TVD Season 2 was fantastic. I loved his mysterious vibe and was honestly more scared of his entry than Klaus. It's also when we learned about The Originals lore. It was just a great season, in large art due to Elijah. But TO Season 2 was also great. I loved seeing Elijah seem to have a life outside of Klaus. He bonded with Marcel, helped build a community with the vampires. His relationship with Gia was so great. We get some of his backstory through the red door. And he just looked great all season. Although I adore Season 1 TO Elijah and the softness we see in him, really for the first time, I needed him to stop obsessing over Klaus. He should have left with Rebekah.
Hayley Marshall - Season 3 TO
To me, Season 3 TO is really where Hayley finds herself. I love Season 1 Hayley because she was less jaded, but I had issues with some of her "girl boss" moments. Much like is Season 2, where she is still trying to find her place in the supernatural world. But Season 3, she really discovers who she is and what she wants to fight for. We see her start to set boundaries and stand up for herself. She becomes the leader that she was trying to be in the previous seasons. I also love moments we get in Season 4 and 5, but it was so rushed her development got lost in the chaos.
Stefan Salvatore - Season 3 TVD
I'm such a sucker for this storylines. The lengths Stefan goes to try and betray Klaus and fight the compulsion. We get to see a completely different version of Stefan with his humanity off. We get his backstory with Klaus. We watch him claw his way back to his humanity. This season really focused on Stefan and his struggles.
Damon Salvator - Season 1 or 6 TVD
Damon was a better character when he was just evil. We got his lore. We felt slightly bad for him. But at the end of the day, he was the evil vampire killing, SAing, destroying Mystic Falls. And he was good at it. But if we want to say best season, as in when he was at his best, it has to be Season 6 when he's stuck in the prison world with Bonnie. I've said it before, Damon was only ever able to be good when he was removed from any complications. He improved slightly with Bonnie's influence.
Klaus Mikaelson - Season 3 TVD or Season 3 TO
Unpopular opinion, but Klaus stayed on TVD far too long. Season 3 was great. He entered the show, terrorizing the town in Season 2, but we really got to see him thrive as the villain in Season 3 TVD. But then after that, it just felt odd for a incredibly powerful, thousand year old vampire to be hanging out with high schoolers in a small town. But Season 3, he had purpose and was comical achieving it. Season 3 of TO was the first time we really saw character development for Klaus. He realizes that he has caused a lot of problems for his family and seeks to change his ways. He sets his pride aside and is willing to sacrifice himself multiple times for family.
Rebekah Mikaelson - TO Season 1
I never minded the character shift between TVD and TO with Rebekah. I thought she was amusing in TVD, but ultimately wasn't a favorite of mine. But in TO Season 1, I loved that she was ready to fight for herself. Instead of just being the insecure, codependent sister, Rebekah is allowed to be devious and intelligent all in her own right. I think a later season would have topped this if Rebekah had been in the show more. I wanted to see this character growth continue, but we only got bits and pieces through TO.
Elena Gilbert - TVD Season 2
Elena for most of Season 1 was playing catch up, learning what everything was and who all the players were. But in Season 2, she is more settled and ready to fight back. I love the strength we see in her, but most of all, I love how she held onto her compassion. She was willing to sacrifice herself for her friends and family, but she did so wisely, making deals with the enemies to keep them safe. It was peek Elena, which we don't really get to see again after Season 2.
Bonnie Bennett - TVD Season 4
I love Season 2 Bonnie coming into her powers and going up against Katherine and The Originals, but she still very much felt like she was just acting in Elena's story. Season 4, to me, felt like she had her own storylines that were just as vital to the plot. We get to see more of her family dynamic. Bonnie is allowed to struggle and grow as a witch. They had to bring in Qetsiyah and Silas because she was growing so powerful. I also adore the early seasons of Bonnie, watching her learn her magic.
Cami O'Connell - TO Season 3
Season 3 was peak Cami. She was learning how to fill her uncle's foot steps by protecting the humans from the supernatural with Vincent's help. I even loved Cami's vampire era and wished it had lasted longer. Cami was constantly fighting for those around her, but Season 3 really gave her the ability to do it. She didn't let her fear hold her back until it literally killed her. And even after that, she clawed her way back to her humanity and died just as compassionate as she ever was.
Katherine Pierce - TVD Season 2
This should go without saying. TVD Season 2 was Katherine's best season. And like Klaus, she should have left the show earlier than she did. Her hanging around high schoolers, trying to make a man love her, really lessened her intimidation factor. Although I did enjoy her human era later on. But Season 2 was great. Her entrance was iconic (although I think that was technically the end of season 1). She had a goal and it made sense for her character based on survival.
Caroline Forbes - TVD Season 3
Season 3 for Caroline is where she finds herself. I love her in Season 2 when she is finding her strength, but her insecurities often get in her way. While in Season 3, we get to see her intelligence on top of it all. I also think Forwood was such a good character shift for Caroline. She had matured enough to help him through his own journey of the supernatural world. I wasn't a fan of them maturing her so much in the later seasons.
Marcel Gerard - TO Season 2
Season 1 Marcel was a little too much like Klaus for me. But Season 2, really found their mark with him. He didn't just want the city for power, but truly to build community. We got to see him as a leader and he was great at it. I liked him in the later seasons as well, but I liked in Season 2 that he wasn't a Mikaelson. He was better than them. It was his best season.
Davina Claire - Season 2
I liked Davina in Season 1, but Season 2 she was able to be more than just a Harvest Girl. She had her own motivations and goals outside of Marcel. And she was determined when it came to destroying the Mikaelsons. It really showed how powerful she was. I feel like a lot of her character gets a little lost in the later seasons as it tended to center around Kol and she lost her own identity a bit in that.
Enzo St. John - Season 8
Bonenzo is how I survived Season 8. His love for Bonnie was so great that he was able to fight against Sybil's mind control. I also love how we see his character growth really emphasized here. We see him grow a lot as a character in Season 6 and 7, but season 8 is where it all comes together. He is no longer anchored by his revenge or hatred, but his love. He is the best version of himself in season 8 and I loved it.

If you could add just one haylijah scene into canon, what would it be?
That's so mean to only give me one. So much of loving haylijah is searching for their interactions in the background because the show really gave us very little after Season 1.
Like when Cami died and Elijah is just standing protectively behind Hayley's chair. Same way he stood protectively behind her at Jackson's funeral. So many of their sweet interactions get 0.05 seconds of screen time and if you aren't paying attention, you miss it. Thankfully I pay too much attention.
But one scene we don't even get a glimpse of is in Season 3 Episode 13. In back-to-back scenes Elijah is shot with a white oak bullet and Hayley almost has her heart ripped out by the Strix. How did we get zero interaction between Elijah and Hayley being worried about each other?
Yes, Hayley is still recently grieving Jackson, but that doesn't mean she can't be allowed to worry over Elijah. I feel the writers were so concerned about creating that love triangle tension that they didn't let Hayley just feel her emotions. She is allowed to grieve her husband but also be concerned about another man she loves almost dying. And how did we not get a scene of Elijah absolutely destroying anyone who harmed Hayley? Elijah never gets to actually feel his emotions. Anytime anything happens, he is just expected to move forward with the next steps of the plan. One scene of them simply checking on each other would have been beautiful and been consistent with their characters.
They were constantly checking in on each other in Season 1, even just asking how they were doing. How did we get almost no scenes like that in the later seasons?
And you know what the worst thing is, they deleted multiple scenes from Season 3 of haylijah caring about each other which really helps flesh out their relationship.

Essentially the writers hated us and were so focused on constant tension that we hardly got to see them experience emotions and support each other, which is why I love them so much in Season 1.
I love Klamille, but we get a whole episode devoted to her death and another to her funeral. Same with Kolvina. Marbekah is shown throughout the show even though Claire Holt was hardly there. Yet, Haylijah hardly gets to interact as a couple, even when they are a couple or at least close friends/family for the entirety of the show.
So just more of all of that!

i keep seeing ppl being like "just get an id, what's the big deal?" about the potential voter registration restrictions, and let me tell you a story i am actively dealing with
i work with unhoused people fleeing domestic violence, and i have a client rn whose driver's license expired in 2024, and she needs a new id to apply for apartments. ok, cool. problem is, she lost all her documents due to the domestic violence
so we call the dmv. dmv needs a birth certificate. like i said, she lost her birth certificate. she needs a new one. her birth certificate is from out of state
we look up how to get a new birth certificate. the birth certificate needs an id to order it. cool cool cool
ok then what about secondary options? well, she needs two secondary sources of identification to order a replacement birth certificate, and she only has one, because for everything else she needs an id. fishing license? need an id. fucking park pass? id. she could have her 18+ child use their birth certificate to vouch for her, except her abuser won't let her talk to her children, so that's a no go
ultimately we land on social security card. this is where we're at in the process rn. ofc she doesn't have her ss card, so we need to order that. social security also requires an id to request a new card, but they'll take a health insurance card with a picture attached (god fucking bless them). she has medicaid but doesn't have a physical copy of the card, so we have to figure out how to get that. then once we do that we have to upload it to the social security website, and if that doesn't work, we have to, god forbid, call the social security office (takes literal hours) and then make an appointment. she doesn't have transportation or cell service, so we would have to figure out a way to coordinate me getting her to the appointment in order to present the document
then we wait 10+ days for the replacement, that has to be mailed to me bc she is unhoused and doesn't have an address
then we need to submit her request for a new birth certificate, which we have to figure out how to pay for, bc it is not free. they're at least a month behind on requests, btw, so we are probably looking at may at the earliest for that to arrive
then we need to take the birth certificate to the dmv
dmv also requires two pieces of mail not from a po box. she doesn't have an address, she is unhoused. she can use the homeless shelter in town, but we will need to mail her stuff there and have her receive it first, and also then the homeless shelter address will now be on her new id, which landlords will recognize and may discriminate against her for
during all of this she is sleeping in a garage. it was negative one degrees this morning. also, forgot to mention, she is terminally ill. some days i legitimately don't know if she lived through the night. every day is a toss up
the absolute soonest she will have an id is probably late may. forget voter registration--most rentals won't let her apply without it. she won't be offered section 8 housing without it. she can't apply for ssdi without it. she is blocked at literally every corner without it, and the absolute soonest she can get it is late may. the dmv literally has her old card on file, and she knows the number by heart, but it doesn't matter. it doesn't count if it's expired, as if she's somehow become someone new
and that's all with the help of someone whose job it is to do this shit. imagine if she didn't have a caseworker. she has a ten year old donated iphone that only works on wifi, she can't even do her own research bc she doesn't have internet half the time. how the hell is she supposed to get anything done on her own?
so yeah, fuck you if you think requiring an id isn't voter discrimination. "just get an id" is privileged af thinking and it infuriates me every time i hear it. lawmakers know exactly what they're doing with that restriction, and it's absolute bullshit
