Ordered the Art of @loisvb! 📖 I’ve always loved her work and this book has become sort of reference point/inspiration generator for my digital drawings (thank you quick tip sectiooonn). The pictures and learning more about the influences on her work are really interesting. I’ll definitely be getting the second one when I can afford it. 😊 . Also I think I’m starting an art book collection now. Idk. Hi, hi!
I know it’s been a bit quiet over here (although really, I feel as if the whole world is right now) but I promise all is well on my end. As mentioned on my Instagram, I’ve just been taking some time out to focus on other places and people for the time being (mainly uni classes and my family). I’ve also honestly been stuck on inspiration lately.. or things that are worthwhile. I wish to put out more finished works on here after all and less works in progress.
But yeah. For those who care - I’m here and I’m okay.
Also ACNH has taken over my life.

Here’s something a bit different for today! In anticipation for Animal Crossing New Horizons I’ve put this little tutorial together on how I draw a bell bag. I actually plan on doing more of these so I started off with something simple for now. I’d be so happy to see people make an attempt at it! (And then of course make your own changes to it as you wish)
Also here’s a progress report on that work I’ve been doing lately. This time I really wanted to experiment with creating skin colours by layering different colours of red, blue and purple - rather than colour picking skin tones and darkening them ever so slightly. Makes things more natural looking, y’know?
Although I won’t lie. Atm this girl looks kinda scary.
SO UPDATE - I reckon I’m gonna have to step away from this one just because the longer I look at it the more frustrated I get.
Seriously. This ish gets stressful when you look at it for too long.
But it’s okay. I’m just gonna put a pause on this one. I’LL GET BACK TO IT EVENTUALLY. Maybe it’ll be worth starting something else.
Bit of a “behind-the-scenes” post! For reference’s sake I took a few photos while working on it. Line work? Just fine and dandy. Colouring? NOPE, NOOOOPE, absolute noPE.
But at least I finished it!!!

Here’s a little something I worked on last November! Thought it was worth putting a little up to celebrate the efforts I’ve made in improving my digital drawing since. I dunno, this was the first proper time I sat down and told myself to commit to finishing a work for several hours.. and I did it! GO ME!
Side note though - today I’ve been getting into this Skillshare class on drawing female characters. Really pleased with how things are turning out so far. At this rate I’m becoming more and more confident in creating my own compositions.
So this is something that’s been sitting in my drawing files for a while now. I used to follow a blog called Pastellish with some really ethereal/fantasy world and I’m trying to something along those lines. Atm I can’t pinpoint what’s wrong with it.. I’ll have to wait and see.

Cooking is one of my favourite pastimes and so there was no way in hell I’d pass up an opportunity to share one of my favourite recipes to follow! Regardless of whether it matches with my.. “usual” content.
Today’s recipe is of the sea salt ice-cream from Kingdom Hearts. I was following Rosanna Pansino’s tutorial as well as a written recipe by Kurada on Food.com at the time, but seeing as I made a few alterations to both recipes (because Australians call things different & I’m too poor for an ice cream machine) I’ve written what I actually did down below. So yeah. Have fun!
Kingdom Hearts Sea Salt Ice-Cream Recipe
Ingredients
2 eggs
2 cups (500mL) of milk
1/3 cup of sugar
Sea salt (this stuff is powerful, plz be careful)
300mL of thickened cream - Please note that full thickened cream makes the ice-cream more creamy, light thickened cream is a healthy alternative but makes the ice-cream more icey (I had to use this because my parents are diabetic).
1 tsp of vanilla extract/essence
OPTIONAL BUT BASICALLY MAKES THE ICE-CREAM AS UNIQUE & AMAZING AS THE VIDEO GAME VERSION:
• Blue & green food colouring
Utensils
Wooden spoon
Electric mixer
2 mixing bowls
A medium sized saucepan
A metal bowl or cake pan
A working fridge/freezer (because duh - it’s ice cream)
Directions
Separate the eggs yolks from the egg whites into two separate mixing bowls.
Beat the egg whites with the electric mixer until peaks form. Set aside.
Mix the egg yolks with the sugar until thick in consistency.
Gradually bring the milk to a boil over medium heat in the saucepan. Stir it occasionally with the spoon to prevent it from burning.
Pour the hot milk into the egg yolk and sugar mixture and mix well.
Pour hot milk, egg yolk & sugar mixture back into the saucepan on medium heat until it becomes as thick as custard (or as thick as you can possibly get it). Make sure that you do not let it boil.
Pour custard into bowl of beaten egg whites and mix well.
Now sprinkle in some sea salt to your liking. You’ll want it to be the perfect balance between salty and sweet.
Place the mixture into the fridge to cool. For me it was around 5-10 minutes.
Once cooled, stir in the thickened cream and vanilla.
Optional: Add 7 drops of blue food colouring and 1 drop of green food colouring. Stir well.
Freeze according to your ice cream maker’s instructions OR if you don’t have one pour the mixture into a metal bowl or cake pan and place it into the freezer until the edges are firm. When they are: remove it from the freezer, mix it, and place it back into the freezer again. Repeat this process until the ice cream is “uniformly frozen”.
And that’s that! After all that time, you’ve made yourself probably the most bomb-ass ice cream you’ve ever tasted (and no, I am not biased).

Seeing as I’m pretty set on this “establishing-myself-as-an-artist-slash-lover-of-creativity-person” kind of thing, I felt that in my 29282:$:892473 day long hiatus from the internet having a sort of space to do that on my own was pretty important to me. I really wanted a record of the fun things I would get up to or made (without dealing with the dreaded “Your iPhone Storage is Full” notification constantly popping up on my phone). Sooooo aside from my new insta account - this Tumblr is it (Facebook, YouTube & Twitter I’m still feeling a bit scared about.. I dunno yet lol).
