Here’s just a few of my OCs. These seven all exist in the same universe, part of the same team. (Ferans are a race of humanlike creatures with animalistic features and abilities.) Please give feedback:)

Malakai Palore spent most of his life as the second prince of the realm of Palore. His father, King Elron Palore, was killed by Warlord Pyrus a couple years ago. His brother, Rowan Palore was crowned king, and having no heirs of his own, named Malakai Crown Prince. His upbringing has prepared him to be an emissary, a diplomat to foreign countries. He is quite accomplished at it. He is well-spoken and not afraid to voice his opinions on almost any matter and is skilled at compromise. His is a talented hunter and swordsman, but not an expert. He also speaks several languages, but was never taught magic or runes (until he met Dusan). He is trusting and can be a little naive, always looking for and seeing the best in people.

Dusan was a young man in the early days of magic, living in a relatively large town with his family. His parents died of an epidemic when he was 15 years old, leaving him to care for and raise his younger sister, Rose, on his own. He took any job he could find to support them, learning many skills along the way. A few years later, when Dusan was 22 and Rose was 15, she caught the same illness as their parents and died. Dusan was left alone, becoming increasingly depressed and self destructive. He began to take jobs as a mercenary, fighting any chance he got. Eventually he was taken prisoner and experimented on by dark mages, trying to find a path to immortality. The spell backfired, killing all the mages and halting Dusan’s aging process, effectively making him immortal. Several times after this he tried to kill himself, but the spell also made this nearly impossible. After awhile, Dusan became a roaming wise man, learning all he could about everything he could. He speaks many languages and is a master swordsman. After he made peace with himself, he became hard to anger, strong, wise. He is cautious around others, distrusting of magic, though he can use basic spells and enchantments. He wears a small amulet that Rose gave him, that was meant to protect him. He has also been trying to find a way to remove the immortality.

Nova was born in a small village in Kathan, to a farmer and his wife. She was born with silver hiar, which is a sign of innate magical talent. In order to engender favor and friendship with a powerful dark mage (Zakan), Warlord Pyrus took her from her family and gifted her to Zakan as an apprentice. Her father and mother were devastated and her mother never really recovered. She died four years later, in childbirth, bearing twin girls named Luna and Sidra (17). Nova also had an older brother named Aster (26), who helps his father run the farm. She was raised in captivity, never allowed to leave Zakan’s tower. She learned the dark magic that he taught he quickly, although reluctantly. When she was old enough to realize the implications of dark magic, she began to refuse to use it. Zakan did not tolerate this behavior. She would do just enough to please him, sneaking into the library at night and teaching herself enchanting, nature magic, and especially light magic. She has a familiar, who comes to their mage when they feel they are ready. Hers is a wolf named Polaris, who showed up just as she began to rebel. She is a skilled archer, often infusing lightning magic into her arrows. She is quiet, reserved, and can be distrustful. She is strong, both in spirit and body. She can read people very well.

Delta was born in Letaria to a pair of slaves. His mother once had wings like his, but because of their demonic appearance and cumbersome size, they were cut off before she was sold. His father was raised as a slave, and was a leopard like Feran, with cat ears and a tail. Delta inherited his mother’s Feran qualities. He is bat-like, with large leathery gray bat wings. He also has acute hearing. When he was born, his parents’ owners didn’t want the aggravation of removing his wings, so they sold him. He was lucky enough to be bought by a man from Letaria, who wanted him as more of a pet, something to show off, instead of a wingless slave. His wings were kept in good condition, and eventually that man had a daughter. He was given to her as her personal pet, but she outgrew him and the family sold him again. He was set to go to a lord in Kathan, who was going to remove his wings, but ran into Kai and Nova on the way. He is timid, shy, and awkward around people after meeting the others. Once he gets to know know them, he is fierce in his loyalty. He is not a particularly strong person, but he has a kind and good heart.

Deja Dunnak is a telepath living on the outskirts of Palore. When she was young, she had to try very hard to use her abilities, both empathy and telepathy. As she grew howeverm so did her power and beofre long she could no longer stop the voices and feelings from invading her head. When she was fourteen years old, she left her hometown, isolating herself in the nearby forests to prevent this. She has the ability to empathize with animals, but not speak to them and she has a companion bird, Aura, that lives with her in the forests. Her family consists of her parents and an older sister (who has slight empathy) and they remain in the village, occasionally visiting Deja. She cannot have more than one or two people with her at a time or she sould lose track of which thoughts were hers and which were not. She doesn’t like people, and spends as little time with them as possible, even her family. She is a gifted tracker and forager, choosing not to eat meat. She is cunning, stealthy, and well prepared to defend herself. She can be a bit stubborn as well. Dusan teaches her to control her abilities enough that she can re-enter civilization, but she still tends to avoid large groups of people.

Sam has grown up on the streets of Palore, orphaned at a very young age when Warlord Pyrus killed her parents. They were close to King Elron, and Pyrus threatened them, trying to force them to kill him. They refused, not willing to betray their king. Pyrus had their home burned to the ground with the entire family inside. Sam was rescued by the young maid that was working that night. She barely got out of the house with a six year old Samarra before dying herself, from burns and smoke. The king believed that the entire family died in the fire, not aware that Sam survived. Being so young, She was taken in by an orphanage, but was mistreated. When she had learned enough to care for herself, she took to the streets, preferring to steal to survive. She never went to the royal family for help, mostly because she was too young to understand the connection between her family and theirs. She has become a well known thief in Palore. She doesn’t ever go by Samarra and doesn’t use her last name, so no one else ever makes the connection either, until Rowan does after Kai and Dusan encounter her.

Calyx was originally from Wessara, captured by illegal slave traders when he was a teenager and sold in Kathan. He was defiant and disobedient, an extremely troublesome slave. As a result, his most recent master paid a man to condition Calyx. Calyx eventually relented, obeying every command that he was given, but never lost his true fighting spirit, it was just pushed down inside him. He is careful, soon realizing that he has do what he can to survive, not just be defiant. He is defiant in smaller ways, like protecting the younger or weaker slaves, including a snake Feran girl named Cyra. They were very close, but she was weak, and was left for dead by the slave traders. He was devastated after that, closing himself off until Kai and Dusan reawaken his spirit. Kai and Dusan reawaken his spirit, sparking something within him. He is beyond distrustful of nonFerans, expecting every one of them to betray him. He is so uncomfortable around people that Dusan creates a simple glamour for him, hiding his true Feran form.
