I can’t keep quiet about this. It’s bothering me really badly.

My mother has a man in the house right now she and I met like three weeks ago at the concert we went to; and I walk in from work to loud romantic music playing and they are showered, ect.

And the guy is trying to make conversation and talk to me casually every time I go downstairs as if nothing bloody happened. When the signs are clearly obvious. If the state of the bedroom and the shower part wasn’t obvious.  I’ve only met this guy once before. At the concert.

I’ve never been in such an intensely awkward and uncomfortable situation like this before. I’m really grossed out.

I was okay with the guy at the concert, but I officially want nothing to do with him anymore. The pace of the relationship with my mother and this guy is uncomfortably fast, especially since the guy IS IN THE MIDDLE OF A DIVORCE. And they’ve only KNOWN each-other for three weeks.

So my mother....adultery. I just.

The word “problematic” was never meant to be the auto-win card of social justice discussions. Problematic is not a synonym for bad or wrong. Problematic literally means that an issue is complicated, open to debate, and raises important questions about an issue, questions that should be analyzed, discussed, and unpacked.

So when you say something is problematic, don’t just lean back in your chair, pat yourself on the back, and call it a day. Go deeper. Get a discussion going. Analyze that shit. Hear from others and come to some tough conclusions.

Saying “we shouldn’t do X because X is problematic” is as nonsensical as saying “the weather outside is weather.”

Tenaflyviper is right. You aren’t even SUPPOSED to be watching this without an adult.

It’s PG 14+ on Adult swim. Meaning, you should be watching this with a parent or guardian watching over you, if you aren’t an adult; to properly educate you on what the shows themes are actually about. And what is and isn’t against the law.

First of all, Ashi DOES look like an adult. Not a teenager at all. She has the body that 18 year old+ actually has. This isn’t an anime where the typical 15 year old has unrealistic gigantic boobs. 

Plus; it’s pretty clear you’ve been watching this on your own with the type of knowledge and opinions you’ve ONLY FORMED VIA tumblr. Not from what is actual fact. Most SJW’s on tumblr are just minors like you who pretend they ‘totally know the law’ when they actually don’t. 

Most accusations i’ve seen on tumblr towards people on ‘pedophilia’ and ‘Gaslighting’ have all been false claims used purposely to hurt people they don’t like. 

Like, It’s scary that ‘Pedophilia’ is starting to become a joke word that people aren’t taking seriously anymore, because most of you kids on tumblr don’t even understand what Pedophilia is. It’s not your show.  It was not made specifically for you.  It is someone else’s intellectual property.  Genndy Tartakovsky based this season around a dream he had regarding himself and a childhood peer.  It’s not your story to tell–it’s HIS.

Not every show is going to have same-sex couples (hell, not every show is going to be entirely devoid of romance, either), and you’re just going to have to deal with that.  Compared to heterosexuals, the LGBT community makes up less than 4% of the American population.  Is representation nice?  Of course, but expecting everything to cater to us is unrealistic, especially when a creator has their own idea of how they want something to progress.  If you don’t like it, THAT’S WHAT FANDOM IS FOR: EXPLORING YOUR OWN, PERSONAL HEADCANONS.  You are going to have to learn sometime that you’re not always going to get your way in life.  This isn’t “bigotry” or “thinly-veiled homophobia”–it’s just common sense.  Human beings are diverse, and most of them in this world do not think, act, or feel the same as you do.

For people saying Jack and Ashi’s romance is forced; go back and watch episodes 4-7 and then tell me all that development and build up was forced.

I get it, this isn’t what you guys wanted to happen and it’s okay to be upset. But this was Genndy’s plan from the beginning. Jack was never meant to be a father figure to Ashi. Ashi was never meant to be a surrogate daughter to Jack. Even if Jack is technically ageless and 50 years older than Ashi, they’re still both grown adults who can make their own decisions.

If that still bothers you then fine, no one is forcing you to like the ship. You can even stop watching the show if you’re that upset. I for one am interested in seeing where this romance goes. Jack’s never been in a romantic relationship before so this is brand new territory for him and for the show. What is this leading up to and how will it end? I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m sticking around to find out.

I don’t understand this weird new trend where we all pretend we just figured out corporate social media is an advertising tool. Like we’ve been lied to or something, and believed Denny’s started a tumblr just to hang out with us. It’s truly bizarre. And then the other half of the trend, where we just sort of yell at or try to mock the social media accounts as an anti-capitalist statement is just as weird but for a different reason… These accounts obviously aren’t run by like, the CEOs of the company. The only people seeing these ‘sick burns’ are the social media staff, who have nothing to do with all the unsavory shit we all despise about corporations. They’re probably underpaid, and their literally job is just “Hey make a funny informal ad” or “Hey interact with human beings”. It’s the online equivalent of doing this shit to cashiers at stores. Some lady DID actually snap at me once for saying ‘Hello, did you find everything you were looking for today?’ and told me that she didn’t want to talk to me because I was ‘paid’ by the corporation to do it. She INSISTED I stay silent.

I work as a cashier at a Grocery store.

I’m conflicted about this, and I think it’s because the children that are most disruptive are the offspring of people who do not believe Children Are People, and that is the whole source of the problem.

I absolutely think that’s true. We need to allow for the fact that kids are adults in training and will often require our patience and leniency. BUT they respond much better to being treated with respect than, by default, as a nuisance. Kids in adult spaces are in a very difficult position. They are in a place where they can’t play freely, because it might disrupt the peace- so it’s up to adults who require them to behave with more control to include them and offer them something in exchange. Like, shit, it’s not fun when you’re five and there’s a family dinner and all the adults are talking about adult stuff you don’t understand, no one wants to talk to you because they’re not interested in the things that fascinate you, but you’re also expected to sit quietly and politely for as long as the adults need you to.  And follow certain rules you might not even know exist yet. And not interrupt the conversation because whatever you say is not as important as whatever adults have to say, for some reason.

People often don’t realise how much self-control they actually demand from children. There was this excellent post once about how yes, you CAN take walks with your toddler, if you just account for the fact that they take smaller strides and walk slower than you. Scale down the experience. Make it inclusive. Make it enjoyable for everyone. Kids are People, and Kids are Not As Experienced Or Capable As You.

And also chill with the reactions to kids existing- soooo many people get all annoyed if they just hear a child’s voice. But if an adult says something a little louder, or does something clumsy, it’s no big deal. Every time I take an airplane and there’s a little kid, their babbling and whimpering and, yes, even crying is way less annoying than the exasperated sighs and demands to ‘shut that kid up!’ from entitled adults around me. Like, ok, the baby’s a baby, what’s your excuse for being rude and disruptive?

Whenever I see a child at a restaurant being ignored by their parents I try to engage the child in peek-a-boo or waving or just smiling. I know how bad social anxiety is, and I want to do my best to make sure no one else is forced into it - by making sure that being in public is a desired thing for the child. It has the side effect of reducing crying and yelling, because the child is too entranced to think of crying.

Ultimately, I wish children were treated like dogs, in that people look forward to seeing them and interacting with them, even complimenting them. And that dogs were treated more like children, with owners watching out for them and there not being regulations treating them as pariahs to be hidden or shunned.

It doesn’t MATTER what you say or who you talk to; most people on tumblr attempt defamation as a way to get themselves attention. It’s just how tumblr culture is, because it gets you a lot of notes to trash an internet celeberity. You absolutely did not do or say anything wrong, you just didn’t say what people WANTED you to say; Which was to say that Felix is a Nazi and that you won’t be friends with him or support him anymore.

I have the same opinion, and I don’t even know him. I think Felix was really ACTUALLY only making fun of Hitler, and didn’t realize that his joke went way too far and became antiseminist as a result.

I don’t even think the thought crossed his mind that the ‘joke’ could be disassociated with making fun of Hitler.

That doesn’t make what he did okay, or remedy what he did. But he’s already paid for it in full and feels great remorse over the artists and people who lost their jobs on both disney and youtube because of what he did.
