“This is my favorite axe. I’ve been using it for so long I had to replace the handle ten times and the blade twice.”
Ok so listen, I'm a boat builder in real life and I cannot stress enough that the Ship of Theseus was also not the original Ship of Theseus. Every vessel built is changed by meeting the water for the first time. I mean physically. Hitting the water changes the boat you built. And boats are in constant need of repair. Because they are impossible to not be damaged. Because they are in the Water and deal inescapably with Wind and usually carry a lot of Humans and also Stuff. All boats are life support systems. And leaving them damaged means the sea can Eat You much more easily.
All things are changed by the world they move through and by the adaptations and repairs and improvements chosen by or for them. The replacement paradox is a fun idea to chew on but--
It can be a great relief to know that all things are made up of purpose and intention and transformations and a desire to not be consumed by the sea. Or Fire. Keep on crushing it Gold Pavilion.

do any of you guys remember that sculpture of theseus & the minotaur that lowkey looks like theseus is riding the minotaur like his life depends on it
this one?
Is the lowkey in the room with us?
Saw this when I was in London this summer, I stopped my friend to point at it and said "holy shit it's the statue of Theseus fucking the Minotaur" in the middle of the very busy museum.
Every few months I have to search desperately for this painting from 1883. It's that leg grip. Who hasn't been there.

Spirit (1885) by George Roux
I love Matilda because it's a story about a child who sees injustice around her and gets mad about it and questions why things aren't fair, and instead of the ending being that she learns how the world works and that life isn't fair, she catapults one of the adults who abused her out of a building with her mind
i lied this is actually my favorite dynamic
