the BEACH was more than likely then one place someone was bound to find desirae on her days off , mainly to the fact it was her favorite . someone about being by the water seemed to always put her in a serene head space , and often enough lately that’s exactly what she needed . when leo start talking , dark brown hues drift over to his direction , brow lifting in curiosity but with a a semblance of amusement . “ they were actually gonna PAY you just to go skinny dipping ?? ” somehow she doesn’t feel like she should be as surprised as she is . “ if the water is really THAT cold , a lot more than 10 , but i mean … since i’ve done it before possibly free . ”

“yeah, somethin’ about me being super hot or whatever,” leo teased, though his words did hold some truth. it was a group of drunk college kids, partying on the beach and getting completely wasted. three of them started hitting on leo, which eventually led to their bribery. he didn’t mind, of course-- he’d gladly played along for the most part, but had to draw the line somewhere. “i HOPE you’ve done it before. skinny dipping is... a freeing experience. everyone should try it once.”

❝  WOULD YOU JUDGE ME if i said i’d do it for free ? ❞  the blonde tilts her head and allows herself to nibble on her bottom lip. she chuckles before shaking her head .❝  I’m just kidding , or am i ? ❞  she winks with a light giggle and sighing .  ❝  ten dollars though ?  i  would’ve asked for more . ❞  rosie tells him with a smile as she hums . ❝  it’s the THRILL that is the best. ❞

leo laughs, hands wrapped around the railing as he leans back to get a good look at the woman. “i would never judge you. judging’s not in my wheelhouse,” he says. “and, yeah, i asked for more but they wouldn’t raise their rate, which is why i said no. i’m not THAT cheap of a date.” there’s a playful expression on his face, and he quickly sucks in a breath between his teeth before continuing. “those don’t sound like the words of a woman who’s NEVER been skinny dipping. you sound like you have some experience.”

“no way!” rowan laughed, “people bribe you for that shit? i need better friends because i’ve done it on multiple occasions for free,  drunk and sober.” he shrugged, “fuck, i’d do it for ten bucks… ten bucks is ten bucks, man!”

“sometimes, yeah,” leo confirmed with a little nod, followed by a shrug. “if i’m around when someone’s gettin’ drunk enough at a beach party, the offer comes up. --you do have a point. ten bucks could buy you a LOT of taco bell.”

       sébastien wasn’t quite sure what MOTIVATED him to venture out toward the beach since he was still in his suit from work and undoubtedly he would find some sand in the soles of his shoes tomorrow. he’d like to imagine that it was his subconscious telling him he needed to relax from the tremendous workload he took on this past week in terms of cases, and that the beach was the best form of relaxation. blue eyes are focused on the horizon, not noticing the man sitting on the railing of the surf shop nearby but QUICKLY averting once he realizes he was being spoken to. “ i have TOO high of standards to stoop myself to that level of juvenilism. ” sébastien replied with a wryness to his tone before bringing up his shoulder to shrug in a graceful motion. “ though i’d imagine at least thirty for potential embarrassment and public indecency charges. ”

      “juvenilism, that’s a good word,” leo said, face angled towards the last of the setting sun, a dumb smile on his expression as per usual. he was well-aware that his personality, his LIGHTNESS or zest for life (as his mom would put it), wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea -- as such, it didn’t bother him when he got a rather buttoned-up response to his usual antics. for leo, anything that wasn’t a ‘fuck you’ dismissal was good enough. “thirty seems fair. the trick to avoiding the public indecency thing is to a) do it after dark, and b) don’t be indecent to anyone who doesn’t wanna see it,” he explained. then, after finally getting a look at the guy, he cocked an eyebrow. “what’s with the suit?”

      perched on the porch railing of the surf shack, leo was sipping occasionally from a bottle of beer and enjoying the atmosphere of the beach down below. it was the weekend and the sun was setting, so a group of friends had gathered on the sand for a bonfire. leo liked it when people had their parties on the beach -- as long as they cleaned up after themselves. “y’know, someone BRIBED me to go skinny dipping after dark last week,” he prompted, gesturing towards the water. “i  woulda done it, but i think ten bucks is a little cheap to freeze any body part off for." he paused. "how much would you have done it for?”

when the delivery driver had called her, pleading a packed schedule and looming deadlines, lou had readily agreed to him dropping off her parcel at the small grocery store a very blocks away. she now saw that this was a fatal mistake. she had assumed it was the delivery of clothing that she had been waiting on all week, but instead it turned out to be a myriad of parts she had ordered in for the garage. cursing the fact that she hadn’t been lazy and simply drove to pick it up, she struggled back down the street with the boxes balanced in her arms. spying a pair of feet coming towards her, she shuffled towards the side of the footpath “sorry - watch there’s not an avalanche,” she laughed, her face hidden behind the high stack.

it wasn’t every day leo saw a walking, talking stack of cardboard boxes making its way down the sidewalk. he was on his way home from the gym, maybe a little sweaty & maybe a little tired, but he still stopped curiously to observe the scene before him, cracking a grin when he spotted the girl behind the boxes. “no problem,” he said, peering around to see her face. “can i, like, help you? no offense, but y’look a little overloaded, dude.”

      of ALL people , she knew that leo would be just the person if she wanted to do something quick without getting slack for it ; he was as spontaneous as she was and BOY it was nice to have someone to keep up with her. “ i’m SERIOUS , leo !! so serious. so so serious. “ she sits up completely them , setting the latte down on the small table near them . “ like , i’m so bored i need to do something . anything . there’s this cool DINER a bit away , few hours or something. i wanna go there , so . we’re going on a fucking road trip . “ she’s all but bouncing in her seat , tying her hair back with a hairband. “ when do we need to be back ? “

      much to his trainer’s chagrin, leo had a tendency to follow his heart and attention span wherever it led, even if it meant skipping a session or needing to be reminded that he was a PROFESSIONAL surfer, which came with responsibilities. still, he somehow managed to be prepared by the time competitions came around -- surely some kind of weird ocean magic. or somethin’. “okay, okay--” he sets the apple down and slips his phone from his pocket, quickly swiping through to his calendar. “the only student i’ve got isn’t ‘til next week, and i can sneak out of a gym session if i need to. this is more interesting than, i dunno, fuckin’ crunches.”
