Leon had never felt quite so mortified in his life. The drink, instead of making him feel more carefree, merely exacerbated the embarrassment he felt at the situation. Leon had always privately felt that he held the ability to be rather smooth with the ladies. He wasnât exactly a dirty dog, but in his young years he had manage to accumulate a fair bit of experience with Lilith. None of their opinions had mattered to him more than Lilithâs, however, and here he was making a complete and utter arse of himself in her presence. He could barely suppress a blush as he raced over to the CD player. âIâm sorry, Iâm so sorry, I swear I didnât mean to put this onâŠâ he insisted, but Lilith had got there first. âThis.Was.Laraâs.Favourite.â he said through gritted teeth. He had always despised this damned song, but luckily Lilith managed to change the CD without breaking anything and she had managed to find a pretty good band. Leon relaxed, breathing out heavily before finally releasing a chuckle at the awkwardness of the entire situation. He slumped down onto the couch before Lilith joined him, wine glasses in their hands.
Leon took a sip of the red substance before him. The wine was sweet, easy to drink. He took some more. The liquid which settled into his stomach seemed to warm him in an entirely different way to the Firewhisky. The atmosphere was just as sweet as the drink, and the silence between them refused to be deafening. Leon offered Lilith a small smile and embraced the music. The song carrying in the background was a pretty song, but it wasnât quite as pretty as Lilithâs apartment â nor certainly as pretty as the young girl sat upon the couch next to him. It was only then that Leon noted the time. Merlin, it had become awfully late. He remembered the true reason as to why he had been invited here; to make some phone calls, for Lilithâs sake. Certainly it would be too late now.
âLilith,â Leon breathed. âItâs too late to make phone calls now. Everywhere will be closed.â He explained. âBesides, Iâm not entirely sure Iâm in the right state to make any serious calls at the present.â He continued, a relaxed smile forming upon his ivory features. He leaned back heavily into the soft sofa. Through the window opposite, he could see the stars appearing in the dark night sky.
âMore chocolate frogs, Lils?â Leon asked softly, turning around to face her directly and pushing the bag towards her. The wine lay half-empty on the ground next to him. Leon had never been so drunk in his life and yet he didnât feel silly at all. He felt relaxed, content, and almost, in a strange way, somewhat daring.
