"But that would kill him."
Yes, yes it would. Do you think he would care? Like. Carla could literally tell him to kill his own family (if they weren't already long dead) and he'd do it before the words finished leaving her mouth.
There is nothing he would not do if Carla asked or told him to. There is no limit there.
Yay for helping the planet!
The Stenica are also another (accidental) layer to the containment zone around the Watchtower.
Where Emile passively makes more zombies from both people and wildlife, his funky little progeny will devour or nest in a lot of those zombies over time which keeps the numbers down. They're also just handy to have in general because they'll clean up other rotting things passively such as fallen trees.
Carla and Emile can both directly control them if needed, though obviously Carla's control superceeds Emile's.
Thinking about giving Emile some more body horror.
Sometimes he'll throw up clusters of eggs. They hatch quick into what Carla has coined 'Stenica' (Serbian for Bedbugs), which grow anywhere up to the size of a small dog - though some rare examples can grow as big as a German Shepherd. Each one is unique - having taken from Emile's genetic code much like a G-mutant would. Most of the time they have disturbingly human faces and multiple legs that end in weirdly human fingers. They're built sort of like earwigs mixed with maggots, but cannot fly.
They're primarily detrivores - they'll feed on the dead, especially zombies, but aren't afraid to make those zombies themselves. They're capable of producing the gaseous C-Virus in small amounts, but they're never alone. They'll attack anything uninfected to feed, burrowing into the body and nesting there. The largest can't do this, of course, but not for lack of trying (its messy).
When inside of a zombie they grow even quicker and lay more eggs themselves, though fortunately these eggs are entirely sterile so things stop here. Unfortunately for everyone else, the damage done by all of this often triggers the V-ACT process and turns them into Bloodshots, and the living Stenica can and will spill out from the host when in combat to bite and potentially infect others.
When not around zombies or corpses, they'll often munch on decaying leaf-litter and wood or whatever else they can find. The larger ones tend to not live as long as the smaller ones due to food concerns, but the smallest can live for several months in the right environment.
And yes, Emile does love them all very much.
The scariest part of the C-Virus for me is that if the J'avo's bodies could handle the strain and heat of regenerating better (which is actually what kills them in game - not the trauma from the wounds!) you'd have something much closer to Birkin's original G, which canonically wouldn't have stopped healing and regenerating from whatever damaged it if it hadn't been atomized by the train explosion.
Horrifying to imagine tbh.

Something, something, "Carla isn't a God she's the Devil."
Do you remember how you died?
"Oh yes." He whispers quietly, his eyes glassy.
"We were visting Tall Oaks as part of a holiday. It was not the gas that got my parents that night. No, it was the dead. They overran our hotel. I remember the screams. My parents hid me in one of those closets with the stupid slatted doors before the hallway door buckled and the windows shattered and they were pulled apart and eaten."
Emile's eyes narrow, then flicker across the walls.
"I was so afraid I could not move a muscle. Nothing would work. I pissed myself, you know. I remember watching as the gas came coiling in from outside. I still could not move. I wanted to run. I wanted to cry, to scream, to do something. But I could not."
He smiles, then, faintly.
"I held my breath until I could no longer do so, and as I died in agony I found my God. I walk with Her now."
i could survive my own autopsy
What do you think of Ebajalg?
"I think she's beautiful. I always enjoy whenever I get to talk to her. She's also very soft."
