JOPPER IS ENDGAME!!!
tbh i don’t think campaigning to get ep7 to be the lowest rated of the entire series is a good course of action. it’s actually a terrible idea. i don’t like how the coming out scene was written, but it’s still a hugely important moment for will (also: he was totally downplaying his feelings and him saying that mike is straight is 100% a set up to be proven wrong in the finale). and intentionally downvoting the episode that includes will’s coming out just sends the wrong message. and we definitely don’t need that because there are people out there who are already saying that they hated the coming out scene and that it was totally unnecessary and whatever OUT OF HOMOPHOBIA
That's what I'm saying! All they see is aggregate data showing "people gave the gay coming out episode the lowest ratings of the series." They don't care why.
It's all being lumped together and Netflix execs can speculate that it was due to homophobia/negativity towards gay characters and have that be a reason not to greenlight gay plotlines in other media.
@whynotimtired SAY THAT
It’s interesting that some people seem upset that others didn’t get the SA metaphor within the show, especially in the first five minutes that were released. I for one did not pick up on it, not because I’m dense or a fake fan, but because that’s not where my mind immediately goes, because I was thinking of what this means for the show, getting to see Will in the upside down days, finding out why he was taken etc.
I don’t like how quickly people are to jump on those within a fandom that don’t immediately understand something, as if that is a bad thing. I love it when I misunderstood something and then understand it after reading about it, I love having different interpretations and different perspectives, it makes conversations more interesting, except for when people jump to being rude and calling others fake fans, or telling them they are stupid. It makes the fandom seem hostile and uncomfortable. Why would someone want to be apart of that? It’s exclusionary which goes against everything this show stands for. Yes it may be a minor thing to some and you may think I’m being overdramatic, but I stand by this. I don’t think the majority of people in this fandom are this way, and I don’t think it is exclusive to the stranger things fandom. I do think it is important to talk about this and to be kind to others on the most basic level. I hope those who read this will take a look at themselves and how they treat others in this fandom that think differently or don’t immediately understand what you think they should.
I love this fandom and I want to keep loving it, which is why I want us all to be kind and open to others. Have a nice day💛💙
the clock in the background.......if they made joyce turn against him in a vision i will not be responsible for my actions
Oh no this will kill me
Byler dancing at Jopper’s wedding REBLOG if you AGREE 🫵
I love making stranger things related playlists so much, currently I’m working on a Jopper one, an El one and a byler one. Sometimes I pick a song and I analyse how it applies to byler or Jopper or El and it’s so so fun.
I wish I was born with black hair, Mike Wheeler kind of black hair, Winona Ryder in her early career kinda black hair. It just looks so good! Also when it gets greasy you don’t notice the way you do with lighter hair like mine.
I ordered Joyce and Hopper season five Funko pops, they look so cool! The boxes are black instead of white. Joyce looks so much like season one Joyce (which I love). But what’s weird is that Joyce has arrived but Hopper won’t until December! A month later, like why???
I wish I could get all the funkos for this season, I don’t know why but I love these little figures. I only have my favourite characters, because it makes me feel closer to the character, it’s silly I know. Thing is in Stranger things they’re all my favourite character, they’re all so great.
It feels so weird being a Wicked fan living in Germany. Everyone is like “it’s wicked month!” But like, it’s not, not for me, it comes out in December here. I wanna celebrate but I still have a while to go. I also have to delete social media when the movie comes out because I do not want any spoilers.
Vecna/Henry/One from Stranger Things and JD from Heathers are the same person.
Okay so not the same but incredibly similar. This is something I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about. I find the connections and similarities so let me break it down for you. (Btw I’m gonna be referring to the musical Heathers versions of JD)
1. Their childhood trauma is very tragic and easy to sympathise with. JD grew up in a very unstable family situation, even before his mother committed su*cide they lived only a halfway normal life, (I mean his dad’s job of breaking things is pretty unusual) afterwards things only got worse for him. He was constantly moving around his entire childhood and teen hood, the only thing that made him ‘happy’ was numbing himself with slushies at 711. In the movie we see that JD and his dad have a very unbalanced relationship, in the musical JD seems scared of him. He certainly never got much love, validation, or understanding at home.
Henry is implied to be gay, and is ostracised from his family. They don’t understand him. Their need to seem normal and fit in is stronger than their need to care for and love their son. In the flashbacks to his childhood he always seems lonely. After he k!lls his family Dr. Brenner takes him in and does a lot of damage himself.
2. They both have a bleak and critical view of society. Neither of them are wrong in their criticism. JD recognises the rigid and damaging social structures in high school, and he sees that they apply to society at large. Henry sees how forced conformity brings people unhappiness and makes them cruel when they are trying to adapt. Basically they both see the same issue but at different ages and in different environments.
3. Their conclusions to these broken societal systems are murderous and wrong. JD kills a number of students and frames it as suicide, believing they deserve it. In the end he wants to blow up the school and leave a message stating they died is because they were all tired of society, which is only his motive. Henry becomes vecna and wants to destroy humanity and create something new. He doesn’t see the value human life, neither does JD.
4. In contrast, Veronica and El, the characters they want on their team to help, see the value and beauty in humanity, while also seeing the problems very clearly. They would never be like JD and Henry because they fundamentally are different, they have hope, which is such a quintessential part of their characters. They also fight JD and Henry and win (hopefully El wins at least).
I hope someone gets what I’m talking about, these are two of my favourite pieces of art and I love this similarity.
Saying goodbye is death by a thousand cuts
Man I really miss Bughead, them and Stelena are the couples I most wish had gotten their deserved endgame
my favorite byler proof is that stranger things is a show ABOUT outcasts that was MADE for outcasts. like im sorry that your average white hetero ship didn’t endgame when this show was about and made for outcasts like poc, the queer community, ppl who don’t belong in general, etc etc
Guys, is this the Jopper version of "crazy together"?
Joyce: "I feel like I'm losing my mind."
Hopper: "You're not losing your mind... Not anymore than I am."
-(Season 03x03)
And then Hopper goes on to say he thought he was seeing demodogs (like Mike said he thought he was seeing El??), and then he says he knows about Joyce's plans to move out of Hawkins, and then he tells her about how he moved away after Sarah died to escape the memories. And then he tells her that she has people who are there for her in Hawkins, and she jokes "people like Scott Clarke?" And then their tender moment is cut off by the evil Russians, lol.
Idk, I could be reaching, but it just feels a tiny bit like a parallel to me.
I love when the best ships parallel each other
MOM AND DAD OF HAWKINS GONNA FUCK SHIT UP!!!!
Me once byler actually becomes canon
how it feels saying "they sang this on glee"
So true, I say it all the time and no one cares
