Hi! I’m Ember, and I’m unapologetically cringe. I use she/they pronouns and I’m uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh *checks notes* neuron detergent (neurodivergent). I am also a Hellenistic Polytheist and very proud of it, though it won’t be the main focus of my posting. I may end up writing fanfics or posting art but don’t count on it.

if youre stubborn and love running jokes into the ground you need to get a friend who you can infinitely "sharks are smooth" feedback loop each other with. i was playing wolfquest with my friend fus and i was like "i know that this game is mapped off irl yellowstone but i feel like they need to add some landmarks so its easier to navigate." and he went "but yellowstone doesnt have landmarks" and then i went "see i see where youre coming from however they should add landmarks to wolfquest" and he went "well yes i understand your perspective but theres no landmarks in yellowstone" and i went "i know that this is the point of view you have and i sympathize but they should add landmarks to wolfquest" and he went "see i totally get this angle and a empathize wholeheartedly but there arent landmarks in yellowstone" and we did this back and forth for about 15 minutes until the four other people in the call wanted us dead

i am going to shout this from the rooftops:

Katniss, Haymitch, and the Seam inhabitants are all described as olive-skinned, brown-eyed (edit: and gray-eyed), and dark-haired.

Peeta, Maysilee, Katniss’ mother and the Merchants are largely described as blond haired, blue eyed, light-skinned.

The Hunger Games adaptations have a huge weakness to their casting because they allowed their white audience to overlook this very important fact, that the Mockingjay is a brown girl, that her mother was disowned for having a mixed-race and mixed-class marriage, that Katniss and Haymitch were long shots not just because they’re Seam but because they are brown… because the only brown characters in the movies (i.e. Rue, Thresh, 11 in general) were there to be tragic, not to be saviors.

Katniss Everdeen is brown, and I won’t forgive or forget the movies for erasing that part of her character.

The building was hit before and is leaning, at risk of collapsing at any moment.

Families are living in these tents because they have no other place to go.

There are no safe areas left, no intact homes, no shelters to move to.

Leaving this spot doesn’t mean safety it just means being displaced again.

So people stay.

Not because they feel protected,but because this is the last option they have They sleep knowing the building beside them could fall.

They wake up hoping it doesn’t.

This is not temporary living This is forced survival.

genuine question why you making that "humans are adorable" post even though humanity do horrible things such as genocide, racism, discrimination, ableism, sexism, rape, sexual abuse, and more?

Every day I choose to believe that every human being is fundamentally the same. That every adult was once a child, that every child had fears and hopes and joys, and every person desires to live happily and free of pain.

This does not absolve them of their cruelties. This does not condone or minimize their transgressions. This simply is to say, "I too could become monstrous: what would it take to push me there, and how could I prevent it, and if I could not prevent it, how could I stop?"

I believe that to be human is to be an animal like any other. I believe that we are not evil. Because if I believed that humanity was evil, fundamentally cruel, and incapable of better, what hope would I have? What purpose? What life could I live, as a plague surrounded by plagues?

I don't believe that people are good because I have not seen evil actions. I believe that people are good because I have to.

Do you understand?

I must believe in humanity. I must believe in kindness. I must believe in good, and change, and positive intent.

Because otherwise, I'd have nothing to live for.

Because otherwise, all I would have is myself, and self-loathing, and decades of existence in all directions, and a hopeless wasteland to spend it in.

I am not an individual naturally inclined towards trust. This takes effort. This is a survival strategy
