Xanthous guy, commission work
How IS everyone?
Luke attacking a family member because he is scared of what they might do.Â
But you know, the point of both scenes isnât that he did it. Is that he stopped.Â
VERY IMPORTANT CROSS CULTURAL INFORMATION NEEDED
OK so whatever country youâre from, what do you call frozen sugary ice on a stick, like this:
and what do you call ice cream on a stick that looks like this:
and what do you call ice cream in the middle with, like sorbet on the outside like this:
My friends and I have been arguing for a while now, and we need answers.Â
polos
The first ones people tend to call popsicles but I donât know if thereâs, like, a generally preferred name for the bottom two.
First oneâs a popsicle, second would be an âice cream barâ in the same way a Klondike bar is, third is a creamsicle.
First is an âIce Lollyâ (As in Lollipop) the other two weâd probably refer to by brand, call an âIce Creamâ or possibly just use Ice Lolly again.
NorthWest England here - the top one is an ice lolly, the second is a choc ice. The third⌠I dunno, I think normally thatâs an ice lolly, although usually I think weâd use the brand name.
So- northern/central california, in my house it would be Popsicle Brand name (or if its generic weâd call it mockingly by whatever set of words they use for it) Creamsicle
But also the top would just be popsicle and often we will just call the bottom two âgood popsicleâ
Australian edition: 1 Icypole 2 Icecream 3 Either depending on how clear it is that itâs filled with dairy.
There appears to be some variation. The Australian words I grew up with are:
Icy pole Choc wedge (if itâs chocolate coated) or paddle pop (if it isnât) Split
None of these, however, adequately describe the preferred Australian frozen confections, the zooper dooper, the drumstick, and the Golden Gaytime.
This is really interesting. The choc wedge and paddle pop were specific brands of ice cream thus werenât extended beyond that for description. And I have *never* heard of a zooper dooper!
I guess itâs similar to Americans referring to all vacuums as hoovers.
Right, so first up in Australia weâd generally go: 1. Ice block 2. Icecream (or Magnum, given that theyâre clearly Magnums) 3. As this goes on I realise if the ICED TREAT in question is cheap and shitty you default to ice-whatever and icecream, but if itâs something specific that you give a shit about - i.e., Weiss Bar, Gaytime, whatever - you go with the specific name. Otherwise you just yell FOOD and eat it the fuck up.

HOW IS THIS 6 SECONDS
This is literally one of my favorite vines, a masterpiece really and I will always reblog it and itâs just - I love so many just wonderful LOVING TOUCHES about it and itâs
The beautiful facial expressions and flawlessly communicative gestures the likes of which would be at home in my college-level dramatic arts classes
The universal relateability
The technical video and sound editing thatâs DIRECTLY on the song beat, absolutely A+ timing and that shit is not easy to do
The amazing dramatic use of slow-motion that tells like - this is some Shakespearean drama story - conflict, BETRAYAL, this is Julias Caeser, this is The Iliad
The freaking teacher being in on it and being convinced to shake it down now
in case nobodyâs seen the sequel:
WHY HAVE I NOT SEEN THIS BEFORE
Alright, folks - what was your favorite episode of season 10⌠and why?Â
Home Again! All the emotion! I love Mamma Scully! She was such a constant on the show for both Mulder and Scully. And having a case at the same time, the duality of the show reminded me of Beyond the Sea and some other episodes of the original run and it really felt like The X-Files I grew up with.
Absolutely - I think it was totally channelling a Beyond the Sea vibe. Plus, as @kczar1-blog pointed out, it has some pretty timely social commentary which is also a plus.
