I was created from scrap in the dingy hold of Hornigold’s ship. Old sword blades made my legs. Broken cannonballs made my chest. Muzzles of flintlock pistols made my fingers. Leftover gunpowder made my veins. He sculpted flesh around my skeleton, smoothing out the sharp and harsh metal. He wired me to be perfect, to obey his one command:
