I just find it really weird when people get super caught up what is the precise correct identity for obviously queer historical figures, as if the majority of queer identities and the understanding of what they mean aren't extremely modern inventions, to the point where queer 20 y/os will get mad at queer 50 y/os over what they personally identify as because they see it as offensive. like there's no point in arguments of whether someone like Alexander the Great is technically gay or bi or pan because all of those things and the differences between them are all VERY modern and would mean absolutely nothing within the context of the time he lived, and I really hate how much people like to pretend otherwise when talking about queer historical figures.
like seeing historical figures are representation is good because it shows that various types of queer people have literally always existed. but getting so fixated on trying to find the precise identity for people who lived hundreds or even thousands of years ago and did not have the vocabulary to even begin explaining their queerness to the extent we can today is counter productive and frankly, a little silly.
This!! But then apply it to LITERAL GODS. Like, insisting on a specific label for anyone but yourself is already super questionable, but forcing a label upon A FREAKING IMMORTAL DEITY??? Not valid bestie
