SILVER LYNELS are not to be TRIFLED with
[penned by quil]
@breathlesshcro
sometimes beedle wonders if he really is being stalked by the hylian warrior. regardless, though, he does enjoy the business and company he brings with him. most of his customers are fleeting, only purchasing from him once and a while, whereas it seems like he sees link several times a week.
even if beedle is in the desert, the mountains, the ever-rainy akkala region... link isn’t far behind him.
-- link must be stalking him!!
beedle gives the hylian a suspicious squint from his seat on the grass at the dueling peaks stable, though it’s hard to hide just how much he does appreciate all of the attention.
“You came all this way just to see me? You’re not--”
he lowers his voice, leaning as far forward as his pack and counter will allow him.
“--stalking me, are you?!”
ok so i know i have a lot of drafts, but i kinda wanna warm up before i try those?? so like this for a starter of varying length. or just pop in my inbox and poke beedle, whichever.
crawls out of hole like the reclusive little shit i am

for a moment, he freezes. the only word in gerudo that he knows is sav’aaq! the women at the bazaar had called him voe, but he’s not sure what that means, and it would likely be disrespectful to just throw it around whenever he wants.
but her question snaps him out of it, and he straightens his back a bit. the shift from slouching to straight nearly topples the delicate balance of weight over, but he smiles to hide that brief stumble.
“No, no! Beedle has been carrying this pack for years! I’ve got it!”

beedle hasn’t slept in days, if he’s being completely honest. he had merely drifted into port the same time sleep snuck up on him; so quick that he hadn’t even the time to crawl into his hammock. but he’s already slept all through the evening and following night, and it’s nearly noon by the time link pokes at him.
he chokes on a short snore before his dark eyes wearily blink open. (at least the bags beneath them have shrunk by now.) it takes him a split second to realize where he is and what’s happening, and he immediately sits up and snaps right back into merchant mode.
“Hoy, Link! What can I do for you today?”
(there’s still drool on his chin and the pears that he hasn’t noticed yet, and a large pear-shaped imprint on his cheek.)
eternitybled:
Perhaps she shouldn’t have been as surprised as she was by his resourcefulness, but it was both interesting and impressive to see what he’d dig out of the large bag next. Mavis herself, hardly had any actually useful supplies left. Naturally, she accepted the offered fabric with a grateful nod, using a corner of the blanket to partially dry her drenched attire. It was a half-hearted gesture, clothes soaked from the storm.
Not needing to be asked twice, the guardian unceremoniously dropped down alongside Beedle, legs crossing beneath her. Mavis then wrapped herself in the warmth provided by the blanket, thankful for his kindness. Had it not been for Beedle’s generosity, she’d be an icicle by now. Elbow settled upon leg, cheek resting on her palm as the immortal glanced curiously at her companion. ❛ I am, thank you for lending me your blanket. I was traveling to the next village when I ended up getting caught within the storm. Maybe if I’d been paying attention, I could have avoided the terrible weather. What about you ? ❜
blanket tucked around his shoulders, beedle begins munching on an apple that has earned a few bruises from being in his pack. he offers mavis one without such marks, hoping that he won’t end up needing to share with everyone in the stable. he needs them to make rupees, after all!
“Yes, I see. I’m on my way to Hateno on a special order from a weapon collector. He said he would give me one hundred rupees if he could even see a lizal tri-boomerang, so I wonder what he would give me if I sold it to him outright.”
(of course, the customer in question is a young boy, but it never hurts to try.)
he pulls his blanket closer around him with a small sniff, beginning to catch chill on his wet skin. he knows he has a spare set of clothes, but he won’t change into them now. there’s absolutely no privacy in the inn right now, given how many people are taking shelter from the storm. he hears a roll of thunder, closer than before, and knows they’ll likely be waiting for quite some time.

oh, how quickly trade with moblins can go downhill. they certainly aren’t the brightest, and when beedle had pulled out a sword to offer them, they thought he was going to attack. it’s a shame such an action got them killed, but he spares only a moment to mourn and thank his rescuer before he sets about picking up the loot they’ve left behind.
“Oh, no! I’m quite alright! Beedle is quicker than he looks!”
that much is true, at least. he had managed to block most of the moblins’ attacks with the brunt of his pack. as for the rest, he had merely ducked under their high swings.
“Are you alright, rescuer?”
honourguided:
Donning his soldier attire, he’s been positioned near the congested marketplace on this day, tasked with the job of making certain nothing mischievous took place. It was overly crowded, as per usual ; patrons swarmed stalls and merchants hollered advertisements of their products. Adrian personally was NOT a huge fan of of the market, preferring a place less busy to guard. However, he did not have a say in the matter. With an air of professionalism to his posture, he remained silent for the most part, quietly observing the activity around him. His gaze eventually fell on one figure setting up shop away from the others. With a quirked brow, he shrugged, wandering closer. A girl dashed up to the man–Beedle, apparently–wondering about butterflies. ❛ Why set up all the way over here ? Why not somewhere closer to the crowd ? ❜
the girl is the first to approach, and he buys some of her paltry food items before selling her a jar with nothing more than sticks and a butterfly’s cocoon inside. he pulls some parchment and a pen from his pack to set prices on the eggs and raw wheat, giving them a one-rupee markup from what he had just purchased them for.
the approach of a royal soldier has him subtly gesturing to his assortment of arrows and bows, though he smiles brightly at the question. it certainly isn’t the first time he’s answered it.
“No one likes to be all crowded up while they shop! They should be able to browse without bumping shoulders!”
it’s simple business, really. people are more likely to look at something that isn’t in a spot it’s supposed to be. and once they wander over to him, they often subconsciously think it’s too far to compare his prices with other vendors, and will simply buy from him to save their walk. not only that, but it also gives the shopping experience a more intimate atmosphere, and a customer is more likely to buy something if they feel like they can connect with the merchant on a personal level. just business.
So, I want to give a big shout out to embodiedhero. For starters, I love how they’re giving new blogs and ones that fly under the radar or aren’t lozrp famous love over here that is so well deserved. Plus, the mun is just super sweet and honest and wonderful and I appreciate that. And, of course, I love their portrayal of Link. I think they have a very unique take on a character that is easy to fit into a very rigid mould, and I adore their portrayal so much! I’m glad we’ve become friends!

LetsBeedle is a pure blessing. They put so much heart into Beedle and has transformed this small reoccurring character into a fully developed and incredible human being. I love their headcanon, I love their writing, and I love their mun as well. An absolute gift.

━━━━ 「 ♘ 」 Stubborn stallion. No matter how he try MONARCH thought was truly living up to his name. Colored in a deep brown and accented with black, he was not to be trifled with. And perhaps even too wild for this adventurer; who was currently being dragged down the path at blinding rate. His mount would sooner see him dead than be tamed. At least he was moving in the right direction.
Wait ━ Oh no !
Beedle!
His horse rears as he pulls back on the reins. Stepping back a pace or two and he worries he might lose balance. Almost. Monarch stomping when he lands less than half foot from the merchant. Goddesses damn this horse. He’ll slip off to the left of Monarch. Reins clutched in his hands as he looks towards Beedle; concern clear in his expression. He hadn’t meant to nearly run him over.
@letsbeedle
he’s whistling a tune under his breath that he had heard kass play the night before, pack hoisted and eyes bright. it’s a wonderful day, and he hasn’t a care in the world! perhaps today, he’ll head north to kakariko. it’s been some time since he’s visited, but despite the sheikah being a relatively private people, they’re very welcoming to strangers. and he could use a nice fortified pumpkin stew right about now...
he’s so focused on his plans for the day that he doesn’t notice the horse barreling towards him until it’s nearly on him. he startles, arms flying wildly to keep his balance as he moves out of the way. he doesn’t fall over, but it’s a close call, and his eyes are wide as his regular customer slides off of the wild beast.
“You gave me a fright! Please be more careful!”
