Kids books is probably not the best way to word it, you can enjoy them at every age, including your childhood, as you get older you may find new truths in them, but they're still good for any age.

As a children's librarian,,I'll be the first to tell you that kids can READ. I have kids that read several 300+ page books a week, they just love a story. The kids that don't are the ones with parents that tell us and their kid that "that books is too big for them, they couldn't possibly read it". Telling a kid that they wouldn't be able to read a book is literally the quickest way to discourage them from reading.

But if you tell them to give it a try and ask questions when they dont understand words or a page, then they build critical thinking skills, gain a larger vocabulary, and will willingly pick up longer stories in the future.

#side tangent #but let kids read graphic novels and audiobooks too #don't tell them its not actually reading because it is and saying anything different is incorrect and discourages readers who need a-#different medium to read and enjoy a story.
