Nothing but smiles as Paula was pulled onto Leviâs lap. She circled her arms around his neck and leaned back against him, her body angled in a way they could easily look at one another and chat. Her fingers toyed with the short hairs at the nap of his neck and if it were possible, Paula smiled even bigger when Levi said this was the best surprise. That had instantly filled her with so much relief and joy and she leaned in to press a soft kiss to his lips. âYou mean you donât want the surprises to keep on rolling? Well â we need to eat soon but we can pick up something while out and about. This is San Fran afterall, there are amazing eateries everywhere!â At his suggestions, Paula hugged herself tighter around him. She was likely one of the most affectionate people out there but even more so, the brunette felt completely at ease with Levi. She was about to divulge some of her plans when he made his comment and Paula blushed, nearly giggled, and a hand dropped to his shirt. âIf youâre that hungry then maybe you should. Canât have you running around starving ââ Was she getting better with this kind of talk? She hoped so, she hoped that was the right playback there.
After clothing had come off and a hot and heavy make out session ensued, Paula stopped the action before it got too far and the pair made it to a point where they wouldnât want to get out of bed. As tempting as it was, she still wanted to run all over the city with Levi, and wanted to share her plans with him and see the looks on his face as the day unfolded. They redressed and made their way out, took the trolley from one part of town to another, grabbed a bite to eat at a recommended local secret, and headed to Paulaâs first plan of the day. The Wave Organ was unique but nothing overwhelming in sight. She held his hand as they walked around and read up on the building of it and sat to listen to some of the sounds. Of course Paula laughed through some of it due to how the gurgling sounded. From there they took a boat ride that gave them a tour about the bay. The brunette wanted to suggest visiting Alcatraz but then thought the better of it, seeing the inside of a prison, even one that was a historical landmark, likely wasnât something Levi would find a fun thing to do. The last thing they got up to before heading off to a nice dinner was hit the Seward Street Slides and after a few rounds of fun there, they called their San Fran adventures quits for the day. With bellies wanting food and feet wanting to rest, Paula was content with the full day theyâd shared.
Sitting across the table from Levi, she looked at him adoringly and with soft smiles as she reached her hand across the table to hold his. Him wanting to open up to her made her chest feel like it was expanding a bit, it was just a good feeling that they were having natural bits of growth. âDonât feel like you have to rush to tell me but Iâm more than willing to listen at any time.â His pause made her think that it was possibly something too difficult for Levi to talk about and she was near suggesting that they wait to have the conversation when they were back in their hotel room but his questions when his eyes landed back on her made her still in her seat. Suddenly, even without looking, she felt nervous because his words indicated that someone was watching her. When she turned to look and locked eyes with an old familiar face, she wasnât greeted by a smile from him and she didnât have one for the man either. He was up from his seat and darting out of the restaurant quickly, which had Paula bursting out of her seat, âOh my gosh! Oh no no no.â She sped out of the restaurant with a mixture of shock, panic, and confusion written all over her face but by the time she made it outside the man had completely vanished. Her eyes stung with tears and she clutched at her heart racing in her chest, turning to Levi who had reasonably followed her out she rested her free hand on his stomach and looked up at him with a sad pout on her lips. âHe used to work with my dad â disappeared days before the Feds swarmed into our home and took him away.â
The expression on her face had answered his question before she even spoke. It was one of confusion and surprise, maybe even a little fear. Levi was up and out of his seat as soon as she had moved, not even two steps behind her. HIs arms instinctually went around her, circling her frame and drawing her close to his side and he tried to offer as much comfort as he could. âCome on, letâs get out of here and back to the hotel,â Levi said calmly, still holding on to Paula as he flagged down a taxi.
By the time they made it back to the hotel, Leviâs head was spinning with questions. Not wanting to spook Paula any more than she had been, he kept quiet about what had happened and instead tried his best to keep her spirits up. âThey have one of those jacuzzi tubs with the jet streams and all kinds of fancy salts and what notâwhy donât I run a hot bath for you. Relax for awhile have some time to yourself if you want?â he said, though the last thing he wanted was to leave her alone or be apart from her. He gave her the option to be alone none the less, only able to imagine how she must feel after being out of touch with her father all these years. âI have an idea, I think I might know how to track this guy down, or confirm who he is at the very least. I just need your okay, last thing I want to do is overstep. Talk, to me, PaulaâŠIâm going nuts over here. What in the hell was that guy up to? Why follow us around all day, then leave that way?"
He blew out a tentative breath, keeping his eyes on her as she moved about the room. Still apprehensive about asking questions, he just stood there rubbing at the tension in his neck a moment before going to start the water. It wasnât long before he returned to where she was in the suite.  âIâm sorry, Iâm horrible at this comforting thing. Just tell me what you want or need from me,â he said, then finally went over to where she was standing. He  simply put his arms around her and held her quietly, listening to her breathe.
