it’s the characters who are hooking up, not the actors. why would they go out of their way to seem like they have something going on between them?
“Have you ever tied anyone up before?” Trinity was laying naked in Yolanda’s bed, still coated in a dewy sheen of sweat, brain just melted enough that the question she’d been turning over in her mind for weeks came tumbling out of her lips.
Yolanda’s hand froze where it had been tracing circles against Trinity’s waist. “I have. Is that something you’d be interested in?”
“Yeah,” Trinity said casually, like it wasn’t something she desperately wanted. “I mean, I’ve never done it with anyone before, but…” But she trusted Yolanda. She just wasn’t sure if she was ready to admit that. It felt like too much too soon.

gerran's comment put me off at first but then i considered dennis' perspective and this is where im at- he really cares about trinity and she's in a not-relationship with a very scary (to him) older coworker. trinity, who he's learned doesnt always cope in the healthiest ways. plus, its only been 10 months, presumably less. even if she comes over a lot, garcia's probably still this stern/unapproachable person who could potentially hurt santos more than santos could hurt her (his pov, again).
so basically i think that even something as benign as seeing santos moping around over a miscommunication would be enough for him to give yolanda the death stare across every room for a week
but regardless of gerran or anyone else's take on garsantos, i'm kinda hoping and i kinda see the show leaning more "yolanda garcia is not as self assured as she projects and can be just as dysfunctional as santos" than "this is a toxic work relationship doomed to fail"
Yes, I agree that perspective is definitely at play here as well!
And at the end of the day, the show's gonna do what it's gonna do, and I'll have to live with that. But I will be... disappointed if they chose to depict a relationship between two WOC—the only canon relationship besides Rollins—just to have it end with "Garcia's (who's Latina, a group often stereotyped as promiscuous) actually a player who doesn't gaf about Santos (who has a history of being mistreated)"
Is that something that could happen in real life? Yes, absolutely. Is that a story worth telling on this particular show at this particular time, in my opinion? No.
You know what is a story worth telling? Two talented, albeit imperfect, WOC have avoidant tendencies but nevertheless care about each other. One is more seasoned and self-assured, yet is still human (as you said); the other is greener, but shows promise while having an overwhelming need to prove herself. Here's how they try to balance the stress of their careers with the personal difficulties of a relationship
That plot line could stretch for seasons and not only garner an enthusiastic queer fanbase, but also reach mainstream audiences, too. It could be inspiring, and serve as a meaningful response to the recent retrenchment of rights affecting LGBTQ+ individuals, women, and POC in the U.S.
That's what I want The Pitt to strive for, at least. But it's still too early to know what their ultimate plan is, so I guess we'll see
Omega Santos avoiding Alpha Garcia like the PLAGUE during her preheat because she doesn't want to go through the whole "Do you wanna spend my heat with me? No? Haha okay DW abt it!!!" It's a whole song and dance that she's gone through with other alphas she's hooked up with. Honestly she's pretty good at it and has gone through two heats without Garcia even realizing.
Until Garcia is dragged into a consult and Trinity is stuck telling the patient's wife about their surgery. Garcia can smell it on her and she can barely keep herself from staring. Santos' preheat smells sweet, like her normal scent with added caramel. It makes Garcia's mouth water.
But lucky for Santos she can get away when the patient is wheeled to the OR. And she stays gone for the rest of Garcia's shift, out of sight but her scent still lingers and it drives Garcia nuts. Where is her omega????
She finds Dennis in the lounge hunched over a bowl of reheated pasta and interrogates him. She learns that 1.)Trinity has had multiple heats without her 2.) Trinity always spends those days alone and 3.) Dennis was sworn to secrecy about facts 1 and 2.
Another thing Garcia learned, never trust Dennis with secrets, you could buy him with a chipotle gift card.
Garcia wants to tear her hair out, because why doesn't her omega want her help during her heat??? She is HER alpha!!! She wants to be there for Trinity!!!
So a thing I truly love about The Pitt is that since we only encounter these people for one shift every few months, there is literally nothing that can absolutely confirm for us that they aren't, say, Pittsburgh's premiere competitive juggler.

Went to Home Depot for materials and hid an egg and left it to rot inside an ex-partner's wall after she found out they cheated
The way Garcia keeps bringing up Santos unprovoked, I’m starting to think the feeling she doesn’t have a problem communicating is the big L. That she said I love you, Trinity didn’t say it back, and Dennis had to listen to the fall out.

Garcia and Santos are together. but not super obviously.
meaning they don’t parade their relationship around. those who know, know. it’s not a secret. but it’s not advertised.
Yolanda is an alpha. it’s very obvious. everybody knows. she’s brash and confident. everyone assumes and they’re right.
Trinity is an omega. this is also not a secret, but a lot of people assume she’s a beta or maybe even an alpha. she doesn’t hide it. if it’s comes up then she will tell you. but she’s not going to run around yelling about how she’s an omega.
after nearly a year of being with Garcia, Trinity gets a case that brings some traumas rushing back. The bulimic patient is one of them. it brings her body image issues back to the forefront.
Mel notices, Dennis notices. but more importantly, Yolanda notices. She notices that Trinity does not have the best relationship with food. so she makes an effort to at least keep a protein bar on her person.
Trinity comes into contact with a patients blood, and has to get a full panel work up. Garcia hears about it and naturally makes her way to where Trinity is charting while waiting on her results. Her results come back while they’re talking.
Dana takes a look at them before handing the tablet to Trinity, “Results are back. All clear, but you might want to take a look at those yourself.” she nods toward an open room, “Central 3 is open, Garcia go with her.”
At the nurses station, Dana watches through the closed glass door as Trinity reads the results and hands the tablet to Garcia. She watches the emotions play out on the younger woman’s face, and Yolanda calming her down.
She has no idea what they’re saying, but she can guess. Yolanda is responsible, she will step up and take care of everything whether Santos wants it or not. But she will also support any decision Santos makes.
Perlah is also watching and puts the pieces together. “Santos is pregnant, isn’t she?” she whispers.
Dana doesn’t say anything, but the look she gives is answer enough. They keep an eye on the two through the glass, Santos falling into a hug from Garcia, before going back to their work.
the months go by and Trinity is struggling with being pregnant. physically, she’s perfectly healthy. but mentally, she’s having a hard time. but Yolanda is there every step of the way to tell her that she’s alright, she’s doing great. to just be there silently when Trinity just needs someone to be in the room. she holds her hand when needed. she’s the perfect partner to anyone who can see them. she takes care of her physically, emotionally and financially.
but Trinity still has hard days. there are periods where she only eats what’s necessary for the baby, but Yolanda is not having it, she enlists Dana’s help in keeping her fed. there are nights where she’s having trouble sleeping, so she makes her tea and holds her until she relaxes enough to sleep
she’s spending more time in the ED to avoid going home. Dana has to basically force her out of the Pitt and get Ahmad to bar her from reentering. she’s basically forced to take her leave. during this time, she can’t fight her instincts and begins to set up her nest. but there’s the added complication of “where should her nest be?” because the sire of her child does not live with her.
this cues Yolanda to move out of her apartment and into the WhitSantos house. Dennis has no problem with this, he’s really only there to sleep anyway and he’s really good with kids. so he’s the perfect uncle. He’s the only other person allowed in the nest the Trinity eventually builds. He’s there when Trinity goes into labor. he drives her to the Pitt, and coincidentally, Garcia is down there consulting on a trauma. She transfers the case to Walsh, who immediately understands when she gets down to the ED to see Santos being transferred into a gown. She didn’t know for sure that Santos was carrying Garcia’s baby until that moment, she keeps to herself.
That baby is coming quickly, they don’t have time to transfer her upstairs. Trinity does not want Robby or Langdon or really any of her colleagues looking at her nether regions but Samira, Dana and Perlah are there and she has to accept that somebody is going to see. they get that baby delivered and immediately into Yolanda’s arms. Dennis is standing somewhere in the corner where he hoped he wouldn’t see, but he saw. he doesn’t know how to feel about it but they’re not gonna talk about it. He has her go bag, so that’s his job today. but he’s smiling because he has a new nephew.
Trinity passes out from exhaustion and wakes up nearly an hour later. still in the trauma bay, ironically the same room they found out about the baby in. She looks over to see Yolanda sitting in the chair, her scrub top taken off and the baby on her chest. they lock eyes and Yolanda smiles at her, telling her she did great and that he’s perfect. Trinity doesn’t say anything, she just watches as Yolanda shifts their baby in her arms as she stands to come over to her.
While holding him, Trinity asks what if she’s not good enough. To which Yolanda responds, “you will be. We both will.” and then they look down to see that their son is looking at them. Yolanda tells her it’s the first time he’s opened his eyes.
the moment is interrupted by Dana coming in to change her IV bag and comments on how adorable the three of them look together. She also asks if they had any names picked out and Yolanda reveals that they didn’t know the gender and kind of forgot to pick a name.
Trinity sees the band on the baby’s ankle says “Baby Santos” and remarks that she doesn’t know if she likes that and asks to change it to Garcia in the chart. Explaining that she doesn’t have a great relationship with her family in particular. Dana updates the chart to Elias Daniel Garcia. she subtley wipes a tear.
They get visitors nearly every hour, everyone wants to see the baby. Dennis comes in with food at the worst possible time, Trinity is trying to nurse and Perlah is helping her to get the baby to latch on. Yolanda, not previously being territorial when it comes to Dennis, nearly snaps at him to leave. They are discharged soon after and Dennis is a little worried that he might not even be allowed in the house, so he stays behind.
Dana tells him that it’s normal because he’s an alpha, and to just give it a few hours and wait until they’ve got the baby settled. He gets a text from Trinity that just says “coast is clear”
he goes home and is immediately bombarded with apologies from Yolanda saying she was out of line and he shouldn’t be afraid to come home. he understands and they’re friends again, but he’s not allowed in Trinity’s room just yet.
Elias is a quiet baby, in Dennis’ opinion he’s the most well behaved baby he’s ever seen. he rarely cries and sleeps well through the night.
