Some days only the writing habit keeps me moving forward. Often there is enjoyment, the muse shows up, etc. But I'm glad I can rely on habit to carry me through the hard days

Mood: Sitting in a coffee shop in a patch of sunlight, feeling the writing flow freely
My favorite writing exercise is to ask who wants to tell me a story, and then hopefully a character will come tell me a moment from their lives. Sometimes ordinary, sometimes wild, but it gives me a glimpse into a person, and often a world and a circumstance. They might go into larger story or might just stay hidden in a notebook. I meet the most interesting characters this way and have a collection of written snapshots that i can browse like a photo album.
Libraries are fantastic places. I like to visit new libraries when I travel.
It turns out that Mc Donalds is not a terrible place to sit and write when your options are limited.
I really like the character Alexia Maccon in Gail Carriger's series the Parasol Protectorate. I love strong women, but women who speak their minds and aren't afraid to go against social norms are the best.
