i wish celebs would stop acting “gay” with their friends thinking it’s a show of support for the LGBT community. kissing a friend of the same gender and then giggling about it like it’s just a ~silly fun thing they did is not a show of solidarity. it’s trivializing. it’s mocking. it’s getting the hopes up of young people who are looking to see themselves in someone they admire and then being let down, yet again, to find out that nope it’s just a joke. their sexuality is just a joke. i get that these celebs want people to know they’re open and accepting but like. there’s gotta be a better way.

I’m looking at the notes and just wanna say: Yes, celebrities being affectionate with their friends is fine. That’s not what this is about. This is about some celebs (one in particular) kissing their same sex friend while wearing a homo shirt while they are straight. It’s not cool at all. It’s not solidarity. It’s not helping the LGBT community at all, it’s as OP said, mocking and trvializing and fucking sucky because when you see a celeb kissing someone of the same sex while wearing a homo shirt your first thought shouldn’t be “What if they’re actually straight and this is all an act?” Hell, if a TV show character pulled anything like this you’d all be up in arms. Why not hold the same standards with real people?

tdlr; celebs being platonically affectionate with their same sex friends is great, straight up making out with them and queerbaiting their fans is not.
