EVENT: YEAR END 2025 REQUIREMENT: WINTER GIFT EXCHANGE

having to find a gift for an unknown person has to be in the top 3 hardest tasks of 2025 for eunwoo. finding gifts for people his close ones is already an issue, so finding something for a stranger is quite daunting. in fact, he spent more time mulling over this than his season's greetings. no, it's not that deep. yes, he's quite nonchalant. still, he refuses to pick an underwhelming gift. if not satisfying, the gift should at least be practical.

yes, practical! something that anyone would find useful. something that he would use himself. and so, after almost an hour of turning around a 7-eleven, he found the perfect gift; a pack of heating pads and a wrap-around travel pillow. two must-haves during shoots, especially during this time of the year.

more a fan of boxes and bags, eunwoo picks one big enough to contain all the items. the final touch? a short message. in other words; back on the struggle bus. after too many drafts that he cares to count, his final message is something short but proper for the occasion. hopefully.

"may this keep you warm and rested during work days. fighting!"

“every day? ugh,” he groans, not very convincingly mind you, but still. “i’m filing a formal complaint with hr. and by hr, i mean you,” he adds, pointing at eunwoo with a laugh that gives him away completely. he listens more seriously as eunwoo explains what he means by variety being helpful, face lighting up the more it clicks. “okay… yeah. that actually makes a lot of sense. “react, give something back… i can do that. if i survived days on an island with a bunch of idiots, i can survive this.”

he frowns slightly at his friend’s self-deprecating joke. “hey. don’t sell yourself short. you know your stuff. and even if you are a greenhorn, you’re my greenhorn. that alone should make you feel better,” akio teases with a grin. “if this goes wrong, let’s just agree to blame the director.” he chuckles before turning more serious again. “you happy with your role?

whatever eunwoo was about to say flew off at the mention of the infamous lgcboys show. his cheeks puff as he tries to hold back from laughing. whenever he feels some hint of regret at not debuting as an idol, he reminds himself that at least, he didn't have (and would never have) to be deceived into believing he's going on a nice little trip only to end up in the jungle.

in the end, all decorum is lost and he snorts at akio's encouragement. "gosh you're such a sap" he says. it was almost admirable that akio could always find a way to say the most corniest things. though the young actor knows that there's some truth and encouraging words behind all the teasing. so he lets it go with just a light shoulder punch. really a push more than anything else, actually.

"hm, yeah." it takes him a moment to reply. "i mean, yeah, we all kinda made up our own roles after all. it's just..." he searches for the proper words. "i wasn't planning on going the drama route, so this is kind of... an unexpected development" he pauses, somewhat introspective, before returning the question to the idol. "what about you?"

akio shoots him a flat look at the curtsy, then immediately ruins it by snorting. “god, eunwoo, please don’t ever do that again, you’re scaring me,” he says, though the grin spreading across his face suggests he secretly loves it. “but yeah… you pull off the hr vibes perfectly,” he adds with a small laugh.

still, eunwoo’s attempt at comfort actually works, at least in helping him forget he’s super stressed about acting in front of people. he wasn’t as self-conscious when he was a trainee, as if the goal of debuting made him determined enough to attempt anything and everything. now though? he’s still pretty game in general, but more aware of how others perceive him, and how a simple mistake can snowball into vicious comments online. “you really think variety gives us an edge?” he asks. “good.”he fiddles with the corner of his script, glancing sideways at his friend. “but… thanks, for the pep talk.” he offers a softer smile this time. “it’s nice seeing you in your element too. please teach me a lot, minhwan-san,” he says with a bow. “if they tell me i suck, i’ll blame you for boosting my confidence though.”

eunwoo snorts and chuckles, knowing his friend all too well. this face means 'please so it again', not the opposite. "got it, i'll be greeting you like this everyday from now on" he replies, as the corner of his lips rise, content with akio's judgement of his acting.

"yeah! seriously! we've had improv workshops before this and in the end it's quite similar to varieties; you begin with a context and must react to what others throw at you in a way that will give an opening for the next person to react, all while being entertaining. that's the essence of varieties too, right? and you've been on a couple so far. dig into that experience for those scenes. i believe it'll be more comfortable if you look at it from this point of view."

the young actor scratches the back of his neck, a little embarrassed. his element. "well, to be fair, i'm just a rookie. it'll be on your for trusting too much a greenhorn like me" he declares all too innocently to be serious

akio doesn’t look up right away, too busy rereading the script for the hundredth time while ignoring the noise of the set. and he’s not even reading his own lines, since he barely has any to begin with. he’s just furiously scanning through the text, trying to get a feel of every character, trying to imagine how ren would react to what’s going on around him since he’s more of a background character than an active one.

it’s only when he feels a tap on his shoulder that he jolts, head snapping to the side to find eunwoo. of course he knew he’d be there, but it’s his first time seeing his friend in his element. smiling? don’t get him wrong, akio has seen eunwoo smile before, lots of times. even heard him laugh earnestly at his stupid jokes. the sight itself isn’t jarring, it’s mostly the setting in which he’s doing it that is.

akio’s eyes narrow on instinct. “who are you and what have you done with my brooding friend?” he asks suspiciously, before his entire face brightens up with a smile. pathetic of him, you’d say, to barely be able to tease eunwoo without grinning. can’t help it though, he’s happy and relieved to see a familiar face around. “just trying not to humiliate myself in front of professional actors. it’s weirdly comforting having you around, even if you’re being creepy.” he nudges eunwoo’s shoulder with his own, grin still plastered on his face. “is it the bae minhwan effect?”

as expected, akio caught on right away, but the suspicious look in the idol's eyes is satisfying enough to consider this little prank successful. it's just a slight shift in his posture, but just like that he's out of character. mostly at least. "don't get in your head too much, there are no big sunbaes around. we're mostly just a bunch of newbies." the rookie actor replies. comforting people isn't his forté, so hopefully this would be enough to attenuate some of his friends' worries. "plus, i think idols have an edge on actors when it comes to improv scenes. actors work with a script. we research, we study, we plan. there's rarely place for improvisation, just slight deviations that we feel would fit our character but still within a scene. variety experience is bound to give an edge in this context." eunwoo himself is an example of someone who might struggle with improvisation and bound to cause ngs by freezing or fumbling during scriptless parts.

eunwoo replies to akio's last question with a curtsy. "yep, what do you think? 'your local hr friend' enough?"

EVENT: SIDE EVENT 25 REQUIREMENT: SILENT DISCO

it's no secret by now that the halloween event isn't eunwoo's favorite. he even questions himself as to why he keeps up with his little tradition of bleaching his hair blonde specifically for this event. perhaps it's because it has more to do with him being a year older than halloween itself. he prefers this rhetoric at least.

at least, this year's theme resonates with him. a free headphone, a maze where he might avoid running into people and listening to music? sign him up! it's a breath of fresh air compared to the green carpet. he even blesses with a smile the staff member who gives him the headphone.

it only takes him quick glances to decide where to head to first; popular latin music. when it comes to music, eunwoo isn't really picky, his choices usually depends on his mood. rap, hip-hop, techno when he's up; jazz, classic, ballad, when he's neutral; and rock when he's down. the language doesn't matter much either, but he tends to favor music from south america and great britain to north american and mainland european music. in fact, after wandering around a bit, his next stop is at the british rap booth. if at the prior booth he only bopped his head, here, even his shoulders follow along. he also remains there a little longer, until the places start attracting more people and he's off again. he wanders around, tracing and retracing his steps. he's not lost; he's only waiting for less people to be hanging around the techno booth to visit it, but at least he could tune into its channel. in the end, his visit there is rather short since by that point he feels overstimulated. now familiar with the layout of the maze, eunwoo finishes his visit at the jazz booth. nothing better to wind down.

EVENT: MARTINE CORPORATION S2 REQUIREMENT: POST SETS THREAD: GO BEST FRIEND

it's not every day that one of his best friends shows up on his turf. come to think of it, it's actually the first time that he's actually working with one of them. even during his trainee days, besides noeul's show, he never really had a chance to work with them. which means that on this particular day, all dressed up in business casual with his black hair slicked back, he's in quite a good mood when he approaches akio. and eunwoo's good moods are often accompanied by practical jokes. this time, the goal is simple; freaking akio out.

eunwoo isn't the type to method act, though, probably like many other actors, he often thinks about how his character would think and act during various situations. but for the sake of today's entertainment, it's as bae minhwan that he approaches akio who's sitting at a table. from the get-go, the fact that he walks towards anyone with a friendly smile on his face is not like him. he gives a firm tap on his friend's shoulder before sitting on the edge on the table, one hand in his pocket. "how's everything? not too disoriented? if there's anything i can help you with, feel free to let me know, that's what i'm here for."

hayoung gasps dramatically, snatching her license right out of his hands like he’s just insulted her ancestors. “excuse you, sir, this is a hard-earned government-issued document,” she says, holding it up between two fingers as if she’s presenting proof of sainthood. “and for your information, my instructor said ‘you drive like no one i’ve ever met.’” she pauses, lips twitching. “which i’m choosing to take as a compliment.” her sunglasses slip down again but she doesn’t bother pushing them up, too busy flashing him a smug little grin.

“also,” she continues, eyes flicking to the road ahead, “you’re just mad because you’ve been dethroned. no more ‘designated driver’ title for you. you’re now…” she taps the wheel thoughtfully, “passenger royalty.” she says it like she’s knighting him, her free hand briefly brushing against his knee before returning to the gear stick.

the streetlights begin to glow against the deepening sunset and hayoung feels a small swell of warmth in her chest that has nothing to do with the summer air rushing through the windows. she steals a glance at him — just quick enough to catch the faint crease between his brows easing. “you know,” she says more softly, “if i ever really got us lost, i think you’d find it fun. eventually.”

before he can respond, she reaches over to nudge his shoulder. “besides, i’m driving us somewhere now. you’ll see.” she hums, tapping the steering wheel in time with the music. “don’t worry, my love. this is still the ride of your life.”

eunwoo cant help but snort at her.... dramatic reaction. "well, i can see why he would say that" he lets out teasingly before shaking his head at the smug smile. "i'm not sure if the world would be a better place or a complete disaster if everybody had your level of confidence and optimism" yes, he teases her, yes he fears a little for his life, but still, the last words are said with unmistakable fondness.

"going to be really honest here, miss moon, you're beginning to make me see the benefits of public transportation." his gaze is back on the road, and the delivery is made with a straight face. anybody who doesn't know him might misunderstand, but hayoung knows him well enough that if he truly was annoyed or uncomfortable, he wouldn't be joking around, simply silent.

"i mean, it might not be a bad idea to get lost on the road one day" he replies. "just, let me first drive us out of the city first, then we can set you free on the road."

he glances towards her. "are you? or did you just make this up?" he asks, though he has to admit hes curious about what she has planned.

"we'll be there for a couple days. the concert is on the 20th, but we're filming some promo stuff there from the 17th to the 19th. those are all during the day, so in theory, there should be at least one night where we get to go out and do our own thing." she thinks about the timing of some of their gigs; one of is quite early in the morning, and she doesn't remember anything else in particular being on the schedule, so surely, that must be a day where it can work (she hopes).

"it would be really cool! it's a bit more like a concert than a normal musical, so maybe that's an easy one to get the members to enjoy." she looks through all the other shows happening on her phone, still not wanting to commit to anything in case something perfect comes up. "but i wonder, will it be easy enough to follow along with the story? since it's a bit like a concert rather than a musical, there's not a ton of set design that shows time and plaec or anything, so i don't know if it'll be too confusing."

if his calculations are correct, she speaks 3 words for every word he uses. he shifts in his seat, leaning towards her in sudden interest. could this ratio be optimized? what if he limits his words to the maximum, would he maintain the same rate or could they reach 1 to 4 ratio. an interesting experiment.

but that means that he has to choose careful what he will say. for instance, he's about to ask if she's sure the others would want to do this on their one free night in new york. but those are wasted words. so instead, he nods in understanding. it's not like she needs much to be encourage to continue talking.

he chooses his next opening carefully when she asks a question. or rather, after she's argued against her own question, "it'll be in english; everything will need effort to follow along." he observes. "maybe pick one that's enjoyable regardless of the story?" 10 words. he awaits her reply, now engrossed in this random competition he's made up in his head.

EVENT: CASTING CALL 019

it wouldn't be wrong to say that a sitcom is something that eunwoo usually wouldn't go far. call it trying to get out of his comfort zone, fighting his own personal bias against certain type of work. some might see it as him going for a new challenge himself, eunwoo, however, is fully aware that he's going for this opportunity to prove (to himself) that he's not an elitist prick like his parents. most of his life choices have been motivated by this after all.

the character that he proposes to the crew is called BAE JUNHWAN; an overly enthusiastic and sympathetic HR professional in his late 20s. he's been working for a martine corp for over a year and likely personifies the dread stereotype of HR employees who lurk around to make sure that all protocols are followed, organizes 'seminars' on discrimination at work, sticks post-it around with positive affirmations, and such things. his disposition is always bright and affable, to the extreme. prior to working at martine corporation, he completed his military service right after graduating high school before enrolling in university, where he completed a bachelor's degree in human resources. following his graduation, he worked at a renowned plastic surgery practice.

truth be told, the most peculiar thing about him is that his life is as normal and linear as it gets; two white collar parents, one younger female sibling, always followed the rules, never got in trouble, never experienced trauma or even loss. now an adult, he always follows the same schedule, always does the same things every day, takes his breaks at the same hour, and even his meals follow a pattern. no matter which way you look at it, his life is just... normal in both a fascinating yet creepy way.

"well, it would be preferable if i could go with all the members," minji explains first, still scrolling down the playbill website. "but not everyone might be interested in seeing a musical, or maybe if they're still adjusting to the time change they might be too tired to go." minji is mindful that she may need to accept that not everyone will go. "but i think i would at least try to convince eunhye unnie and hayoung unnie, since we've been out of the country a whole lot now. but it'd be nice if all the members came, don't you think?"

she thinks through other musicals. "do you think hamilton is too much? it's super popular and honestly a staple for broadway at this point, but i worry that the fact that it's rap makes it hard to understand for someone who doesn't speak english natively. and also it's history based." she then sees another idea in the same realm. "or six! it's the wives of king henry the viii, but as if they were a girl group. it almost feels perfect, but it's history, so... maybe it's still a little too off the walls?"

indeed, nothing as simple as a yes or no. all the words she spills in just a few seconds almost make him dizzy. he's getting too old for this (or something like that). still, he listens, and even speaks: "how long are you staying in new york again?" cramming a whole theater show if they just have barely one evening free might not be the best of ideas. he doesn't know the other members very much, but he can picture hayoung and eunhye bouncing back quite quickly. or at least, not wanting to just stay in their hotel room.

he perks up when she mentions hamilton, but seconds later she's already on something else. yep, at this point, her ability to talk is actually impressive. his thoughts wander a bit as he tries to picture his little brother and minji talking each other's ears off. thus, when she exclaims 'six' he almost jumps out of his skin. "actually, six is a good idea i think. going to see a girl group adaptation of historical events with your group members sounds pretty neat" he comments. he wouldn't lie just to please her or get rid of her. that would've really been the type of things he would've liked to do had he debuted as an idol.

hayoung grips the steering wheel like it’s a trophy, her license proudly tucked into the cupholder like she’s showing it off to the world — or at least to her very charming boyfriend sitting in the passenger seat. “ready to experience the ride of your life?” she grins, vintage sunglasses slipping down her nose. the car jerks slightly as she pulls out of the lot, a little too fast, but she just hums along to the music like nothing happened. “that wasn’t me,” she says casually. “it was the car testing your loyalty.”

she misses a turn. twice. but hayoung doesn’t even flinch and, instead, just throws a wink over her shoulder and mutters something about 'freestyling the route'. even with the eyes on the street, she can sense eunwoo watching her with that look. the idol steals glances at him at red lights, foot tapping along to the beat, hand occasionally brushing against his on the gear stick just to see him fluster a little. “you like being my passenger princess, don’t lie,” she teases, biting back a smile.

the sky outside turns soft with sunset and the windows are down, wind threading through her hair as they drive nowhere in particular. it’s been a while since they had time like this — just the two of them. she reaches over to turn down the music, just enough to hear his laugh better and says, “next time, i’ll plan a real date. drive-in movie? fancy dinner? getting slightly lost again but on purpose?” hayoung smiles, gaze flicking from the road to him for half a second too long. “told you,” she whispers. “ride of your life.”

from the moment hayoung suggested going for a ride, eunwoo knew that it would be one hell of a time. there's never a dull moment around her after all but even the words she greeted him with sounded omnious this time around. his first glance towards her happens even before they've left the parking lot. "my loyalty?" he asks. "you locked the door, i have no way out." he continues. at that time, he still has a smile playing on his lips. that wouldn't last long.

first missed turn, another glance. at the second, he can't keep his mouth shut: "ya ya ya ya, it's here". too late. not only that, he's met with the last combination of three words he wants to hear right now. his gaze lingers on her this time, absolutely flabbergasted. stunned.

"i definitely feel like a damsel in distress right now," he mumbles back, his complexion gone two shades lighter by that point.

eunwoo isn't the type to talk a lot, however he's usually chatty around his girlfriend. well, not today. he wouldn't even be able to tell which songs played.

"yeah... euhm... i'll go back to my role of designated driver for that." he breathes out. finally, he chuckles at the ridiculousness of the situation. "so, did you scare the instructor into giving you that license? is it even real?" he picks it up, just to be sure. loyalty? very much erroded.

it's almost surprising that it indeed is the real deal. he shakes his head. "okay, no really, tell me how your practical test went." there's more amusement than mirth in his voice. after all, he's never letting her drive again after this, so better enjoy it while it lasts.

✩ — one of those nights

here goes nothing, akio thinks as he presses the doorbell to @lgceunwoo's apartment. he doesn’t usually force plans on his friends on such short notice. they’re all busy with their own lives and it’s important to respect each other’s time. or at least, that’s what he’s learned over the years. not everyone is impulsive like him and suddenly gets the urge to get out of their room and see people. he just can’t do it anymore. can’t spend his evenings curled up in his bed, staring at his phone and hoping things will magically get better.

he sent brief texts to eunwoo and @lgcxnoeul in their group chat, saying he needs to see them. he didn't elaborate, which is unusual. but pretty much everything about his life is unusual right now. his dreams are filled with images of her, of their happy moments together. waking up is akin to torture as he's faced with the reality that she'll no longer be around. he hasn't really told anyone, at least not officially. chose to put his brave and happy face on when going to work, only to lock himself in his room upon coming back to versus' dorm. rinse and repeat. he feels like a robot that's merely accomplishing programmed tasks.

hollow. soulless.

"hey." akio fakes a smile when his friend opens the door. "brought beer," he announces. two bags full of it, actually. by the way his eyes glaze over when he walks inside, one could guess he's already had a few before coming over.

eunwoo's known the two others for long enough to understand their language, and also what they've left unsaid. as he absentmindedly chews on his bottom lip, he leaves a simple replay: wanna come over?

one thing about the young actor, is that no matter how much he acts like a feral cat in his daily interacts, he'll always pull through for his friends when they need him. now, who fit the framework of a friend is rather limited, but akio and noeul are within that small space.

after a text to hayoung to let her know he'll be with the boys and would text her before bed, he tosses his phone somewhere on the sofa and gets up to check what kind of comfort food he might have in his kitchen. already having an inkling that he'd resort to ordering food.

by the time akio arrives, various greasy foods - some dishes, others snacks - are on the table, freshly delivered. he leaves noeul to organize his haul to open to their friend.

the man doesn't even need to speak for eunwoo to know this really bad; the number of beers speak for themselves. "good, i got the food covered" he replies, patting the man's shoulder before leading him to the living room.
