once again, miso’s cleverness impresses him. not because he’s ever doubted it, but they haven’t played a lot of these type of games together. usually they’ve just been messing around with no greater purpose, like that one time in jeju where they raced on the beach, only for king to cheat and throw her in the water. they felt no strong desire to win ( or maybe they did ), but today, right now? they’re out for blood. her plans seems good, and king subscribes to it with a lifted thumb. more words aren’t necessary and he’s in a rush to get going. the thrill of it all is exciting. he’s been missing this feeling in his professional life. after almost six years of being in the company, it’s like nothing’s new anymore.
as soon as miso puts her plan to execution, king acts his part as well. for him, the trickiest part is definitely not to be noticed by their opponent. he’s hard to miss, really, and this store’s packed with hundreds of items that can easily be knocked over by a misplaced elbow. luckily for him, the girl is busy sneaking behind miso. as she focuses on her goal, she won’t be as attentive to what’s going on behind her own back. the timing has to be perfect. he can’t wait too long as to not put miso at unnecessary risk, yet if he goes too early she might have time to shout for help for any purple member closeby to hear. that could put their escape in grave danger, and they’ve got a flag to protect, as well as themselves if possible.
he loses sight of both girls while practically crawling on the floor. then he sees her. the purple girl slowly stands up, ready to close the gap between miso and her. creeping up behind her, king gets ready to do the same. he’s so close he could almost rip her name tag simply by extending his arm, but he better be closer in case she manages to avoid his grasp. he’s fast enough, strong enough, right? he makes a go for it. seconds later, the nametag’s wrapped under his fingers. “why hello there!” he greets her with a victorious grin, probably annoying as hell to someone who’s just been eliminated, then sprints up to miso so they can run back to their base as quickly as possible.
but as soon as they exit the store, the inevitable happens. a purple team member calls out their name. king abruptly turns around to see the guy running towards them, cameramen struggling to keep up. he’s fast, but still far enough that they could outrun him if they really give it a go. “time to put those long legs to use, then! you know the way!”
there’s something exciting about a plan coming to fruition. yet, one mistake and her time on the show could end right there. she trusts in king, but that doesn’t stop her heart from being faster. excitement. i takes her everything to keep herself from grinning to the camera. thankfully, the unknowing prey is behind her, or she might have noticed the fishy look on miso’s face.
the unavoidable ripping sound finally ring in miso’s ear and when she turns around, the grin that had been trying to appear on her face finally surfaces. she raises a hand to get a high five from her partner in crime. “didn’t expect this, right?” she chuckles. she would’ve spent more time gloating, but they have to get king to safety. exiting the store and going to their base is the better plan
“aish...” miso exclaims as soon as she hears their names and catches a glimpse of their opponent running towards them. “go ahead and don’t wait for me if he thinks he has a chance of catching me, we have more chances to get the flag to safety.” before he can prostest or believe that she’s sacrificing herself, she adds. “i’ll meet you at the base, don’t worry.” and she starts running. all he needs to do is get ahead of her, while she will pace herself. she doesn’t intend on leaving the game now, but that flag is a point closer to victory!
