Casting Call 007
Moon Ahra
Acting + Singing
Joining a musical production was something Ahra had been interested in for a while, though she hadn't wanted to fully go into that direction, still wanted to be an idol more than anything else legacy may offer. Additionally she figured that auditioning for a main role couldn't hurt. Surely, the main roles would go to those actually training to be musical actors rather than her, but she still wanted to show her determination and hard work. There was nothing to lose right? Well, as long as the audition went well...
“Hello, my name is Moon Ahra, auditioning for a main role,” she said, bowing. “I will sing 'Day After Day' and show you a scene from season two, episode 4.”
Ahra began, but instead of talking, she sang, putting on a smile, though her furrowed brows, much like the rest of her expression, made it seem like she was in pain. Shortly after, she stopped, putting a hand to her throat and rubbing it, she coughed as well.
“Is your throat still sore?” read the other character's lines.
“A little bit. But we didn't practise much, yet,” she continued, “but the humidity is high here, so it's perfect for singing,” she said, the hand still at her throat, jaw tense as she looked off to the side while rubbing her neck. “I can't sing louder, keep going,” she said, her smile growing as to say 'don't worry, I'm fine'
Ahra decided to skip the singing scene, as she wanted to showcase her acting now, not her singing, she'd do that later. Instead she started coughing again, more strongly this time, then cleared her throat repeatedly.
“Don't overreact, I don't need to go to the hospital.” her smile widened again, but she still rubbed her throat and Ahra pretended to stifle a cough. Practising this had been really difficult, especially as she'd started to feel like she really had to cough after a while, making her worry whether she'd actually caught a cold. At the same time, this would, hopefully, make her performance more believable. For some reason Nana had stuck out to her, and while she didn't mind an ensemble role either, after all she had much experience to gain, still, the thought of someone suffering like this, ridden with worries such as these had made her curious. After all, her voice was her focus more than anything and during research for her performance, she'd found many ways to care better for her own throat as well, which she hoped would help her in the long run.
The scene jumped again as there wasn't much of her minute left, now she found herself in the hospital, with a little notepad and pen so she could write down her words for the conversation with Shiwoo.
“My throat is not good. I'm staying silent for now. I have to safe my voice,” she said as she wrote, as an audience wouldn't be able to read her writing either. She stretched her arm forward, as to show the words, determination but worry on her face. “Beg the director,” she wrote next, now looking more stubborn, making an disapproving expression at “Shiwoo's” answer, then kicking the air in front of her.
Sadly, there hadn't been enough time to show more of the scene, already having cut out a part in the middle. Now only the singing was left, but as much as she'd practised, she'd always be nervous, even if not quite as much as during the acting. Though she still felt as though the possible reality of her losing her voice one day enabled her to act a bit more realistically.
My hope that I will meet you for sure some day
I will wait until the day it becomes fulfilled
When each day by day passes
I'm afraid my dreams will have lost their way
In the wind and disappear
Ahra put her everything into her voice, realising how much she really wanted a nice role with every minute that passed during her audition. The lyrics weren't all too far from hoe she felt either. With her dream of becoming an idol one day, nothing was really set in stone, everything was unsure and she hoped her dreams wouldn't lose their way.
