Her family is blissfully normal minus the green Hulk shaped elephant in the room. She’s making friends in the superhero world, but it’s been slow going. It’s hard to enter a game that’s already so far along. “I’ve never been one to make promises I can’t keep. They don’t get you anywhere. There’s a lot of really capable people working on this, though. I really want to say it’s going to be okay and we’ll get them all back.”

hunter takes a seat as jen speaks, demeanor defeated but still pensive, “i don’t like being this out of the loop.” first they’re kidnapped without notice, then they’re rescued, but now their mental status is being monitored, and everything’s being kept a bit too secret for hunter’s liking.

The words special agent instantly sets Clarice on edge. It makes her think of Agent Turner and everything Jace had put the Underground through. There’s a whole beat before she reaches out to shake his hand in return. “Blink.” No first or last name. They’re not there. “What’s the whatnot here?”

hunter nods, understanding very quickly that she doesn’t trust him in the slightest. fair enough. “don’t quite know where i stand at the moment if i’m honest. everything’s been shite as of late.”

One hand squeezes into a fist before she slowly releases it. The motion is repeated. Squeeze, release, repeat. “Fucking Pleasant Hill, Lance. It’s in my head.” Her lips purse. “I don’t want people to think I’m any crazier than they already do.” That’s a halfhearted joke. “Clint’s concerned. I’m not trying to make you feel that way as well, but jesus. I don’t even know.”

hunter’s hands instinctively encircle bobbi’s, gently entwining his fingers with her own the next time she releases. his grip is gentle, but firm. she can let go whenever she chooses to, but he hopes the gesture offers some level of comfort at this time. he’s not sure what else there is to do besides just be there. “no, it’s alright, love. just tell me what you want from me and i’m there. anything. whatever you think’ll help.”

It’s easier said than done.

hunter lets out a breath he didn’t realized he’d been holding. of course he’s heard of pleasant hill. he was one of the idiots who tried to storm it. but bobbi was safe now, and that was the most important part. “ – let me check,” he opens the door to his apartment further, gesturing for agent solomon to come inside, “my office is down the hall. i’ll just be a moment.”

“yeah, but then they took my –– they took -” hunter throws up his hands, frustrated, “they took bobbi. and she’s the furthest thing from a criminal, believe me. they took her and turned her into a bloody lab rat.”
