There's this Trinidadian Folk character named Papa Bois, who's basically the protector of the forest. He's described as a cenetaur or half deer with leaves and bark for clothes and a long beard. He deters hunters by chasing them deep into the forest so they won't find their way out or causing them to hallucinate.

The Folklore says that if one sees him in the forest, you are to greet him with Bonjour Monsieur.

But like, what if the person doesn't know French?? Would he get jump kicked? One hoof to the face?

I think that your greeting won't work, cuz he saw you with a hunting gun, so.

I know, this has African and French/Patois roots, but Papa Bois gives me Lord Shiva vibes (from Hinduism) especially in his form as Pashupati.

just hit 91,000 words on You and Your Friend... we're definitely hitting 100k in chapter 5

99,000 words and counting. chapter 5 is Almost Done i have one more scene i need to write and then i have to edit all of it

Wowwww. So writing that much is ok? I always stop at 3000, keeping my readers in mind but deep down I want to write up to 10,000 or something 😅❤️

it's absolutely okay! there's no rules to how much you can or should write! you may get different things out of writing different amounts but it should be up to what you feel like doing!

this is the first time i've written anything this long, and i'm finding that it's a really good challenge and i'm learning a lot from doing it.

i do think that many (fanfiction) readers, myself included, find it more approachable to read shorter things. personally i tend to avoid fics that get really long unless specifically recommended which i realize is a bit ironic.

but i think the important thing is to remember that everyone has different things that draw them to reading fic! there's always going to be an audience for the really long stuff, even if it's different or smaller than your usual audience!

plus if you want to still keep it approachable to your readers, you can break it up either into chapters or into separate parts of a story! there's so many options and you can do whatever works best for you.
