Caroline ignored the package she had seen the girl slip into her purse, she knew all about hidden demons and she wasn’t about to throw them back in somebody’s face. “Hey” she said, smiling brightly.

“ this is like, way out there ,” lia began, maintaining eye contact and wrapping a thick strand of dark hair between her middle and pointer fingers, making sure the strawberry blonde was distracted from anything other than the words pouring from her cherry chapsticked lips. “ but do have a stick of gum? i forgot my wallet in the rover and i’m dying for something minty fresh - i had a caesar for lunch and realized too late i have absolutely nothing on me .”

— by the time she noticed she wasn’t alone at the pharmacy counter, it was too late - several idle minutes of bubblegum browsing and studying magazine headlines with vague interest had left her completely oblivious to her surroundings, specifically the surrounding customers, and before she can make a less than subtle dash to her range rover the innocuous white paper bag with “PROZAC — PARK, JIYEON” printed in stark navy letters is being slid across the counter to her. as the pharmacist begins giving her instructions she can’t force herself to pay attention to, there is a sinking sensation in her stomach that seems to reach her knees, half embarrassment on her mother’s behalf and half overwhelming distress that she hadn’t been able to pull this one simple task off for her. quickly, ophelia composed her features into a bright smile, casually shoving the prescription into her purse and practically bouncing over to the familiar face, ready to do some damage control.

hey angels !! i’m katie and i’m soso excited to write w you guys and flesh out lia !! i have two exams tomorrow and am in the middle of an all nighter so my activity will definitely be pretty spotty for the next twenty four-ish hours but i’m totally dedicated to this character and will have basically unlimited free time to rp in ... twenty four-ish hours. anyway, a little about ophelia ;

her father is from old money and her mother was a flight attendant (turned interior decorator and homemaker once a ring was on her finger and a baby was in her arms, ensuring spousal support should things go awry). her mother became very religious after marrying ophelia’s father, so growing up she was basically always at some church event or another; lia tries her hardest to drink the kool-aid and pray to the invisible man in the sky, but she can’t help but be incredibly conflicted about her beliefs. she still keeps up the facade for her mother, though, in a desperate bid for her approval.

she’s far from the social butterfly her socialite mother was in her heyday, which is a source of tension in their relationship; her mom doesn’t understand lia’s reserved nature and lia doesn’t understand her mother’s conflicting advice and idealogy and finds it exhausting to try and walk the fine line of good christian and fun girl at the party that her mom manages to pull off in louboutins. in high school it had been a lot easier because she was athletic and pretty enough to be a cheerleader, which cinched a seat at the ‘it’ table, but now that she’s graduated she’s not that interested in trying to be a queen bee anymore.

a few months ago her father walked out on them with their maid - lia and her mother both pretended to be completely blindsided, but if she was being honest, it was that surprising. disappointing and disillusioning, but not a shock - her father was married when he met her mother, and despite how much she adored him it had been a long time since ophelia thought the man was perfect. there were too many late nights at the office, too many nights her mother sat clutching a glass of red wine at the kitchen table long after she was in her bed, pretending to be asleep and praying to a god she wasn’t sure she believed in that her daddy would pull into the driveway by the time she counted to ten. 

now she’s trying to juggle keeping her mom proud, getting the woman out of bed, figuring out what she wants to do with her life and trying to track down her elusive father, all while attempting to have a social life
