YES! People try to negate this by pointing out that he’s lashed out at Langdon too, but like… being a misogynist doesn’t mean that he’ll never discipline or even lash out at a male colleague. Being a misogynist doesn’t have to mean that he calls women in the workplace bitches or that he dramatically rolls his eyes every time a woman speaks. Misogyny is so deeply, deeply ingrained in our society and ways of thinking. Just because it’s not over the top or specifically highlighted in the way that tv shows usually present the subject does not mean that it’s not there, informing a character’s behavior. It may not even be fully intentional in Robby’s character or in the shows writing, but you can’t tell me that the way he treated Samira isn’t incredibly reminiscent of “women are too emotional for this” or “must be that time of month, huh?” That’s not even mentioning all the ways he’s belittled her prior to this.

Also want to point out his treatment of Al-Hashimi, because yes, Robby can be struggling with giving up control of the place and people his life has revolved around for so long. He can be worrying about if his team can handle the responsibilities that have been drowning him. BUT he is ALSO questioning every decision and action of a woman who is essentially his equal and treating her like an intern not worth listening to. She is a flawed character in her own right, not every policy she’s instituting is beneficial, but she has for the most part been kind, fair, and glad to observe and learn Robby’s way of running things, immediately adapting to his teaching style. Yet she is afforded none of the respect that Robby gives the male attendings and residents.

I am going to acknowledge the Ides of March by saying that it is questionably joyful and whimsical. While killing, murdering, and stabbing are generally not considered joyful and whimsical activities, when it is aimed at a corrupt emperor and also celebrated in a silly fashion, it does start to become a little more joy and whimsy flavored.

You are meant to

1) recognize that Garcia is right to call out Santos for being unprofessional around Langdon in front of patients and other colleagues and that much of her feeling of isolation likely comes from the fact she is an abrasive woman (while also recognizing that she is surrounded by abrasive people who aren’t as isolated as she is!)

2) recognize that Garcia is treating Santos poorly in general by bringing their relationship into the reprimand AND being a hypocrite about this as she also was disrespectful to a colleague around her coworkers in the very same episode

3) recognize that Langdon does deserve grace as an addict who has put effort into his recovery and that he is trying!

4) recognize that Santos is under no obligation to accept the apology of a man who was stealing drugs from his patients and was awful to her in the one day she knew him and also tried to derail her career once he realized she had figured it out
