just something neat i discovered lately when looking at the timeline of warrior cats: barley is much younger than he seems at first glance

in yellowfang’s secret, the same moon that raggedstar dies, barley appears as a young apprentice aged/barely warrior aged cat who has just recently moved into the barn (the medicine cats meet him on their half moon journey and he is quite young)

raggedstar was killed about 6 moons before into the wild

in into the wild, ravenpaw is about 8 moons old & by the time he leaves, he is about 12 moons old as we see a little over at least 1 season pass throughout the book (old enough to have been made a warrior, as well, but he left the same day that was meant to happen)

(additionally, even disregarding yellowfang’s secret, we know that barley wasn’t even born until bloodclan had long been established by an adult scourge, and scourge is approx 8 moons younger than tigerclaw; the oldest barley could be to have been born into a long established bloodclan would be about 2 years old)

this makes barley at least 5 moons older than ravenpaw and at most approximately 10 moons older than him (give or take a few moons) which is pretty funny considering HE is the one still alive afaik (against all odds) but at least the diff isnt as big as i first thought when deciding to look into this so it isnt AS ridiculous

he would have been anywhere from 17-22 moons old when ravenpaw came to live with him at the end of ITW, and currently as of the end of AVOS, he would be around 13-15 years old

her being longhaired on the reprint cover art isnt the first time she has been dkjfsfkdjfkj im rly sorry to be the bearer of bad news... i know ive often pictured her as shorthaired too so i get it !! but ..............

this is dumb and i only have like 10 followers so i feel like i can ramble abt i guess but. warning for talk of animal death below the cut

my dog brought a newborn squirrel inside and ive been upset ever since even tho i kno its illogical. it squirmed for a bit but died within minutes, either because he injured it carrying it, or because it had gotten hurt falling from its nest, idk

and i know logically he’s a predator so i shouldnt be upset but it made me cry watching it die, and he would have probably ate it if i hadnt yelled at him to drop it? and now i cant even THINk abt like. newborn kittens like warrior cats or anything, i wanted to Write but now im stuck bcoz i keep thinking abt the squirrel
