Severus jumped. He was usually the one who was observing and lurking, but now the roles were reversed. He wasn’t used to it. He could definitely understand why it would be taken as creepy, or off. Severus sighed, suddenly in the lime light he was trying so hard to avoid. He didn’t say anything, just turned around to face the music. She looked tired, but then again maybe he does as well, or maybe he looked the same. He liked her like this, it seemed more her somehow, rather than the image of her at the ball. Face open, he smiled softly, holding out his hand, a little leafling floated softly towards her.

Severus didn’t answer her, causing a small frown to cross her lips. Still she caught the small leaf floating towards her, staring down at it as a deep wave of nostalgia rolled over her. It was odd timing that he would show up right after she had to see her sister, considering that he must’ve gone through a decent amount of trouble to find out where she lived now. It probably wasn’t a good thing that he could find her, because that meant others could as well, but that was something to worry about later. “That wasn’t an answer,” she said softly, taking a couple slow steps closer. She should tell him to leave, considering Marlene could either be home or on her way, but she was stupidly curious about this unannounced visit. That stupid glimmer of hope she always had for Severus and their friendship flaring up again. “What’re the flowers for?”

“Aw, Gid, you’re such a gentleman,” Lily grinned, stepping quickly under his umbrella and out of the rain. For some reason she’d left the house without even thinking about the weather. “Guess you’re walking me home now, hm?”

“Mary!” Lily started giggling as the girl grabbed her hands and started dancing, dragging Lily along with her for a moment. “Who knew you could move like that?” She added with a laugh, swaying to the music on her own now.

As much as Lily didn’t want to wake him, seeing how peaceful James looked as he slept, she’d sat with her legs crossed when he’d laid his head down and her feet were falling asleep. “James,” she murmured softly, running her hand through his hair affectionately. “Hey, we can go to bed, you know,” she added with a soft smile.

Being home for the holidays was always interesting lately, considering that going to Hogwarts had driven Petunia away from her. But Severus never wanted to hang out at his house and Lily knew better than to ask. so when Petunia had come home with her friends and interrupted them sitting in the living room, calling both of them (but even more so Severus) names and letting her friends tease them, she’d decided not to argue this time and instead just leave. Lily grabbed Severus’s hand and held onto it, leading them both out of the house with a huff and one quick remark back to her sister. Once outside she’d simply not let go, smiling and apologizing to him for her sister as they ended up just walking around the neighborhood.
