honestly probably one of my most controversial takes about Peep Show is that I very firmly believe Mark is actually gayer than Jez lol. like we get to see Jeremy fully enjoying sex with women fairly frequently throughout the series whereas Mark's idea of sex with women is like "give her just enough pleasure to be acceptable in the shortest possible amount of time and then apologize and go to bed." that, and I cannot stress this enough, is literally what he thinks before he tries to have sex with Sophie for the first time on their 'romantic weekend getaway.' Actually one of Sophie's main criticisms and issues in their relationship is that Mark finishes long before she has even had a chance to get into it at all! And I've seen people interpret this in a way that implies Mark is just a desperate worm who can't control himself and finishes immediately bc he's pathetic and inexperienced with women. But I happen to know it's because he wants to get it all over with as quickly as possible and, being the weird misogynist he is, he thinks his orgasm is what constitutes the end of sex. So in his mind, finishing kind of gets him off the hook from having to do more unenjoyable things that, in all likelihood, sort of just disgust him.
But then within 10 minutes of meeting Alan Johnson for the first time he is noticeably blushing and internally referring to himself as "Johnson's Queen" and fantasizing about uprooting his whole life to run away and move in with him! Mark Corrigan I know what you are (highly repressed, likely somewhere on the ace spectrum and also gay. to me.)
