Had she said that aloud? An absent comment on the conversation floating around the break room. Stray hadn't even been aware Malevola had been paying any attention to her, given that wet guy seemed to be engaging her. Straightening, Stray's hands tighten about her coffee mug with smile flashing up to the demonic woman. She's scary, but- Malevola has always been polite in that distant way of coworkers who don't exactly interact much. "C'mon now, he couldn't have been all that bad," she offers up, brows up and curiosity piqued. Was there gossip on the true nature of that hero over what he's been portrayed in the public eye?

Malevola's brows raise with curiosity. The wet boy is still babbling on about something she has no interest in, something about rubber and running water and other dork shit she just doesn't have the desire, or the patience for. She leans over a little more, putting just a tad more weight on top of the plastic blue bottle half full beneath her arm and locks eyes with stray.

"You didn't hear? That so-called hero was caught speed fucking goats on some farm just outside the city until he died with his pants down and his ass in the air for all to see." She laughs and downs the rest of the water in her paper cup. "...and I'm a recovering villain? pfft."

a smirk. alora stirred her finger around the glass. her long nail dipping inside the golden liquid. “You enjoyed yourself?” alora purrs. her eyes shift over to him, a long wired tail whips out from behind her, her eyes becoming crimson in color. “I like when you’re like this. When you’re yourself, preacher.” she glanced over at the mess he’s made, the unconscious man on the floor bleeding from his mouth.

If there was one thing about Jesse Custer that was consistent, it was that he reveled in any opportunity to drop a mother fucker when necessary. People didn't look at him and see a violent man, or even expect him to be one. Not when he wore that collar so proudly. Preachers are men of the lord, they dont conduct themselves in that way. That wasn't true for this preacher. Not even close.

"Course I did." Jesse responds, letting the tip of his snake skinned boot meet the ribs of the groaning man he'd floored only moments prior as he pulled the pack of pilgrims from the pocket on the front of his black button up and taps it upside down on his palm until a single stogey falls out into his palm. "I like when I'm like this too, makes me feel alive." He gloats, placing the pilgrim between his lips and takes a seat beside Alora. "You wanna buy me a drink? As a reward for puttin' on such a good show for ya?"

❝  in  fact,  it's  only  gonna  get  worse  from  here—so  buckle  up,  buttercup.  cause  you're  in  for  one  hell  of'a  ride.  ❞   he  gives  a  soft  squeeze  before  boots  march  off  only  to  come  to  a  halt,  glancing  back  at  her  from  over  his  shoulder  once  he  realizes  she  isn't  following.  ❝ —  in  the  delta?  ❞

Doe eyes grow heavy with annoyance, not particular pointed in Ash's direction, but his can do attitude was cause for an eye roll or two. She's tired of deadites, cenobites, configurations and creatures from hell. Is this all her life was? Is it all it ever would be? "We've kicked evil's butt, we've kicked it to hell and back and it still needs more kicking and my legs are tired." Kirsty complains, chest rising and falling with a deep sigh.

A hand reaches up and she rests it over his, hand squeezing over his when he gives a gentle squeeze to her shoulder and her head is nodding in reluctant agreement to continue on this 'hell of a ride.' Brows knit and raise in the center in question, head raising to lock those gorgeous brown eyes on his and she rolls them again in compliance. "Yeah, yeah I'm coming."

Buffy the Vampire Slayer 1.12 Prophecy Girl

he used to hate her. hell, there had been plenty of times in which he wanted to kill her. (and twice as many attempts to coincide the feelings he once felt.) now he is, in every sense of the concept, love's bitch. the slayer's play thing for whenever she wanted to romp around in the sack – and he's so willing because for once in centuries of his miserable life, he feels again. something so genuine, something so real. it strips away at the persona a once soulless vampire had built from nothing and yet, he can't seem to give a damn that his reputation has been slayed at last.

he finds himself at his most vulnerable for a change because he needs to know – needs to hear her say something. spike knows he's not a thing to be loved or even worthy to ask to be loved by her, but what they had, what they have has to mean something more than what they've started out to be, right? or so he wants to believe. the words had slipped quietly and he found himself unable to look at her at first. he almost told her those words again: i love you. and he'd be a fool to admit that truth and wait for nothingness in response. asking her if she had regrets seemed the easiest option. he swallows upon hearing her response, his head turns slightly and he finally meets her eyes. seconds tick in silence and he simply holds her gaze. only to break the silence with a subtle curve of his lips, ❝ careful, love. i might be foolish enough to believe i actually mean something to you. ❞

It burns. That fire deep inside her chest for him. There's a hollow regret that she's treated him unkindly for some time now. Pushing and pulling him like something she could use and abuse whenever she got the itch. It stings to hear those words from him, they weren't much different from any other time he bared his soul to her and yet, here she is. Vulnerable to him and everything around her. She feels lost, weak. Everyone has turned on her and for what? They forced her out of heaven, spent all her money, forced her to get a job, and she bit the bullet and allowed it all to happen.

"You're not a fool Spike." She speaks, fingers dancing around each other in what might come off as a nervous reaction. Her? Nervous? Around him? Usually not likely, but in this moment she can feel something in the air shift around her. It had taken everyone in her life pushing her away like the villain to finally see just what Spike had actually meant to her after all this time. She licks her lips, a soft bite to her lower when her head bows only momentarily before raising to meet his intense, yet comforting gaze once more.

She means what she says, so she says it again to really hammer that nail into him. "You're definitely .....not a fool." It's all she can say, because she's not ready to tell him that she loves him. She's still too frightened of what that might mean for them, for her, for their future, and there's still a world out there that needs saving. "That's all I can give you for now." She continues, brows meeting in saddness. She wants to say it, she just cant, and she hopes that can be enough for now.

Leave it to the vampire to feel protective over the slayer.

The blonde's voice bounces off the metal walls and rafters of the old Coronado steelworks factory, Star remaining back in general while the boys -her boys- hunted. It shouldn't have surprised the vampire that the girl was here at all; there had been whispers of the old factory being haunted for decades, and if she truly was a slayer, well, no better place for her to look for the undead.

And, yes, maybe Star had done a roundabout just to end up back home, but if it meant she got there before the others, it made sense.

"I didn't," she replied, slipping down from an overhead rafter, her feet not so much as making a thud as she landed, layered skirt tapering around her fishnet clad legs. Trapped in the body of a 19 year-old, the two looked like they could attend the same college. Brown eyes quickly scan over the other, her still heart in her throat; unlike the boys she ran with, Star took no pleasure in taking a life, only if she truly had to feed. If it came to protecting herself, however...

"You're the one breaking into abandoned buildings looking for things you shouldn't be," Star didn't even dare take a step closer, but rather lifted her hands up to show she meant no harm, rings catching the faint moonlight that leaked inside. "You need to get out of here before sunrise, I'm trying to give you a chance-"

It's uncomfortable. The tall ceilings, the cold hard metal, the way any small sound echoe's so loudly she could hardly hear herself think. Large and abandoned. It's the perfect place for a nest. Yet it's empty, at least from the initial look of it. Perhaps something stirred further within? Brows knit together and raise in expressed confusion. An amused huff following suit, and she turns around on her heel, crossing both arms beneath her chest with preemtive judgment. "Feels a lot like you did." She bites back.

It was a strange feeling, the one in the pit of her stomach that made her not want to kill her. Drusilla, Darla, that chick who stole her entire dorm room on her first day at college. Buffy had no trouble with the desire to stake any one of them, but now? Nothing. Perhaps it was because something was different about her. There was no animalistic aura that set off Buffy's spidey senses. Hell, she even felt a little human, but the slayer knew better than to let her guard down, especially when the threat felt minimal at best.

"Breaking in? You act like it belongs to you. Does it?" Her question is one of rhetoric. She already knows the answer and it's that there is something there, something the other is scared she's going to find and doesn't want her to. The slayer steps forward, out of the shadows and directly into a path of moonlight drenched in the center of the room. "You're trying to give me a chance? I've let you live this long haven't I? Seems to me, I'm the one giving chances here."

OH.  she's  checking  him  out  now.  dark  brows  climb  up  his  temple,  along  with  his  already  inflated  ego,  laying  on  that  wide,  CHARMING  smile  to  do  his  bidding.  she  wants  him,  she  just  doesn't  know  it  yet.

❝  well  you  sure as heck don't  look  like  someone  who'd  normally  be  hanging  out  in  a  CEMETERY  all  by  her  lonesome.  never  know  what  could  crawl  outta  the  ground– unless. . . it is your boyfriend.  ❞  jowls pull down with disgust in a blink, but he'll  play  it  smooth  this  time.  a  shift  in  demeanor.  maybe  this  girl  really  was  more  than  she  seemed.  wasn't  unlikely,  given  the  people  he's  come  across  before.  ❝  the  name's  ash,  by  the  way.  ash  williams.❞   his  chin  tips  upward,  still  with  his  gaze  locked,  vigilant.  a  more  AUSTERE  tone  laced  within  when  lip's  part  again.  ❝  .  .  .  .you  know  anything  about  demons  or  deadites?  ❞

The way his eyes scan her has her wanting to wiggle out of her skin. Nose scrunches up again in formal disgust, eyes rolling away with a nod in agreement. Sure, he's correct about that. She doesn't at all look like someone who would be caught dead in a cememtary. Pun intended. "That's me, she who hangs out in cemetaries." She says it like it's a single word all on it's own. Eyes instantly drop to a fresh grave just a few steps behind the man as it begins to stir.

"Please, I wouldn't date a dead......" She stops, catching herself on that lie and aggressively sighs. In fact, she's dated two dead guys. Brows raise curiosly as he offers up a name to go along with...everything else, and while she wasn't normally one to offer up her job status, he wasn't exactly a normal pedestrian. "Buffy, and you could say that." She replies a little too cockily for her own taste and takes a step toward him.

A hand has dug itself out from six feet of fresh dirt, a head follows and soon, the entire body of a freshly turned vampire is standing, covered head to toe in dirt and ready to sink it's fangs into the first human it sets it's eyes on. She doesn't give it that kind of time. She's pushing past Ash, drawing her stake and letting it fly towards that heart shaped bullseye. The vampire combusts into a cloud of ash, and she turns back to the man with a smile. "I'm a vampire slayer."

She's exhausted. It's been one of those endless nights where the vampire's roaming cemetaries seem to be on a continuous factory roll out.

"I mean, it's like their mass producing them in a factory or something, do they EVER take a break!?" She questions rhetorically, hand reaching up to touch the ends of her hair and she pouts. "I barely even have time to wash my hair, I'm getting split ends."
