And many years later, you might roll your eyes and feel secondhand embarrassment over your past self’s word choices and character development. But I really hope that when that happens, you then go and pick up a pen or open up a blank document and you keep writing, knowing how far you’ve come and how far you can go.

They claim to be a job service, and one of their “employees”, Carrigan, is friends with whoever the call recipient is, and that Carrigan has recommended you for this $15.00/h “job”. I also got a text message from [phone], claiming to be Carrigan, and that they need stuff to “win a scholarship”. I do not know anyone by the name of Carrigan and I know very well that this is a very dangerous scam. If you receive a call from a number, and they ask you if you would like a job for $15.00/h, HANG UP IMMEDIATELY. If you accept the “job” offer, and you go in for an interview, they will give you a drugged bottle of water and you will wake up somewhere you don’t want to be. These phone calls & texts are from a human trafficking service, and if you oblige to them, you will be sold to people and you will be raped, no doubt about it. So PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT ANSWER THESE CALLS OR TEXTS. I have listened to the voicemails, and allowed my dad to do the same, and he learned that anyone offering a $15.00/h “job” is a human trafficker. Okay, I am getting kind of tired of this. I have been getting messages like these since the beginning of October. I AM SORRY THAT I HAVEN’T HAD THE ENERGY TO UPDATE LMDT. I have been working roughly 45 to 50 hours a week for the past 3 months and a lot of those days have been without a break, so I am sorry that I am not getting better as quick as I would like. And you know… people have always asked me why I don’t normally write longer fics anymore… this is why.

Ok, I feel I need to address this. To the anons that sent these messages, do you honestly think it is acceptable to hassle someone who is legitimately sick into updating a free fictional story?? Were you really raised to think this is ok??? So what that it has been a while since the last update? She is sick! Also, people have lives on this website, you do realize that right?? Since I am a co-author for LMDT, and have just as much say in it, feel free to direct your hateful comments to me. I’d gladly take that heat in order for my friend to feel better. To the anons who wrote the messages, you should honestly be ashamed of yourselves.

This of course isn’t directed to my followers and this is all I’ll say about it. Thanks.

Kagami was in shock as he held the phone to his ear. He could hear his boyfriend’s voice telling him the story, could hear his words, but all Kagami wanted was to hold Aomine. He could tell. No one else would be able to because Aomine was just that good at hiding his emotions, but Kagami could tell. Aomine was one step away from breaking down. The redhead could tell from the deeper voice and slight hitch he heard as Aomine talked. He could tell by the way his boyfriend was sniffling a lot as if his nose was stuffed. Trying to remain as calm as possible, Kagami finally spoke. “Daiki come home ok? We can talk about this more.” A long pause was met, then a softer tone came over the line; Kagami’s heart squeezed at the sound. Aomine was going to break apart. “I have to do this report.” Gripping the phone hard, the redhead kept his voice even, “Daiki you can do it tomorrow or on Monday. It isn’t going anywhere. Just come home please. For me.” Another long pause forced Kagami to bite his fist with anxiety. He needed to get his boyfriend home. “Ok. I’m on my way.” “Thank you. I’ll see you soon Daiki,” Kagami sighed with relief.

As soon as Kagami opened the door he knew he had been right. Aomine stood in his uniform, the dark blue material stained on his front. They both knew it was blood, but Kagami didn’t say anything. The lost look on his boyfriend’s face had him pulling the man into his arms, not caring about the stain. Pushing the door shut with his foot, Kagami tried to walk his boyfriend back into the living room, but they only got a few steps before Aomine collapsed. Not letting him go, Kagami went down with him, both men kneeling on the hardwood. A whisper full of emotion came next to the redhead’s ear, the sound making his breath catch in his throat. “I didn’t save her. She was right there, right next to me. I tried to move in front, but the bullet was…I couldn’t protect her. Her son…oh god her son saw…I couldn’t…” Aomine’s tears were silently flowing down his cheeks, the wetness soaking Kagami’s shirt. He didn’t care as he rocked his boyfriend back and forth, trying to soothe the man in his arms. “I’m so sorry Daiki. I’m so sorry that happened. It wasn’t your fault, it was the shooters. You did everything you could have.” A violent shake against his chest forced Kagami to stop talking, “No! I should’ve done something. I should’ve moved faster. I’ve moved faster on the court, but when it mattered, I couldn’t fuckin do it!” Aomine yelled against his chest, Kagami squeezed his eyes shut as he refused to unwrap his arms, even as his boyfriend started to struggle against him. “Let me go. Taiga let me go!” Kagami gripped the back of the uniform shirt, the redhead holding the man to him with all his strength, not willing to let Aomine go through this alone. “No. No I won’t. You did the best you could. This isn’t your fault.” Aomine raised his head, his face twisted with pain as he pushed against Kagami, “Yes it is! A woman died because of me and her son had to watch! I didn’t do enough!” Kagami shook his head, his eyes full of emotion as he stared at his boyfriend, “No Daiki. No. You’re wrong. It’s ok to be upset. You can cry and scream and hit me all you want, but you did everything you could, and I’m not letting you go until you see that.” Aomine let out a pained sound of protest, his struggles getting worse, the two men nearly rolling across the floor. Somehow Kagami kept them on their knees, his arms tighter than ever around his boyfriend, his face pressed against Aomine’s shoulder. Finally, when the redhead wasn’t sure he could truly hold his boyfriend any long, Aomine went slack against him, his face pushed against Kagami’s chest once again. “Why? Why couldn’t I save her Taiga?” Kagami shook his head, one of his hands coming up to softly run through his boyfriend’s hair, “Sometimes no matter what we do, it just isn’t enough. Unfortunately, that’s how the world is. It’s not your fault or hers; it was the shooters for deciding he could take her life.” “I tried…” Aomine’s broken sob cut him off, the two words piercing his boyfriend’s heart. “I know, I know you did Daiki. She knows too.” With that Aomine broke apart, his sobs racking his body violently, the shaking flowing into Kagami’s as well. The redhead never let go. He held his boyfriend until his arms were sore and his knees screamed from being on the ground for so long. He rubbed his hands up and down Aomine’s back, rocking him again, both of them moving together. It wasn’t until Aomine went silent that Kagami realized his own cheeks were wet, tears silently streaming down his face.
