Every now and the I’ll be like “you know? Being closeted and in denial wasn’t that bad.” And honestly, it wasn’t and isn’t. Soooo many people have it worse. But then I remember that I use to believe that the rainbow flag was the Mark of the Beast and the sight of it would literally make my heart rate accelerate and fill me with a deep self hatred and I’m like. yeah it may not have been *that bad* but it was still absolute shit

The internet is so cool because I’ve never met any other queer Christians in person before, but here we are in our little corner of tumblr, encouraging each other and loving God together and I think that’s such a beautiful thing

Does anyone else have issues with being mostly in the closet but also a Christian?

I’m out to a few people, but the heavy feeling of knowing that I’m performing in front of other Christians, and hearing them say some pretty close minded stuff about the lgbtq+ community makes me feel disconnected from the church, which ends up making me feel disconnected from God.

I’m trying to see other Christians by their Christ-like traits and not their humanness, but the homophobia and the fear of them finding out that I’m a lesbian in a way that I can’t control is inhibiting.

atp I just wish I was fully out and comfortable with my sexuality in front of other Christians :/ that might be disastrous though

Do yall know how much religious trauma I can fit in this bad boy (my brain)? Because boy howdy is there a lot. I’m a Catholic partially bc going to mass was the first time in ages I experienced a church service that didn’t trigger my CPTSD. I’ve spent my life arguing with conservatives, from your Protestant Calvinists to evangelicals to trads and orthobros.

Either they'll give you a new perspective on things, or you'll become more secure and confident in your current beliefs. But avoiding the hard questions leaves you in an echo chamber with half-baked ideas and an insecurity in yourself. Step out of your comfort zone so you have room to grow.
