This is, I think, the one time Fenris tries to reach out to Anders, and it fucks with me so badly because it’s so obvious that Fenris is relating to Anders’ grief and guilt because Fenris has also been there. 

Fenris has killed people he didn’t wish to kill because his actions were not under his own control. He understands this feeling.

And I wish so badly that the two of them could learn to communicate better and to understand where the other is coming from, because they have so much in common.

The sad thing is, Anders is on a downward spiral, while Fenris is on a slow road to recovery. I think this is the point of intersection on that graph.

I think the BioWare writers had to make Fenris and Anders hate each other because if they liked each other they'd be insufferable and unstoppable and also boyfriends. They had to nerf them to stop them from absolutely wrecking the entire Dragon Age canon together.
