“I know you’re horny. I can literally feel it. And it’s not helping me focus at all. So can’t you deal with it?”
He was caught off guard when Newt suddenly turned to face him. The newspaper he had tried to read lay forgotten in his lap- he had found something much better to concentrate on. It was truly an experience to watch him work, zipping around the cluttered little shed, and it didn’t help that Newt was facing away from him. His eyes had just… happened to drift downwards.
Shifting on the stool he had perched himself on, Percival cleared his throat. He could feel his face warm with embarrassment, though he wasn’t quite sure why; he was a grown man, sexual attraction was natural. Even so, his head ducked. “Right,” he mumbled, folding the papers back up. “Sorry.”
'Rough touch'
#16: My muse bites yours.
His strength was coming back, thank goodness. Newt had been taking care of him, nursing him back to health while he and various Aurors worked on unlocking the various charms and hexes he had been subjected to. It had led to… this, whatever this was.
Newt was pinned between the Auror’s chest and his mattress, a strong hand gripping the back of his neck ( he fit perfectly in his palm ). He held the younger man’s head up as he ducked into the curve of his throat. He always smelled wonderful, like earth and musk, and it mingled with Graves’ own scent of coffee and tobacco- today was no exception. He breathed in the scent through his nose, lips trailing his pulse- and then a notion struck him. A step further, that was all it would be.
A few seconds passed with his nose pressed to the corner of Newt’s jaw before the light kisses resumed, though they gradually became less light. The addition of little nips was subtle enough that by the time he was sucking a mark onto Newt’s neck, his teeth scraping over the sensitive skin and his tongue darting out to immediately soothe it.
"Mr. Graves? We need to talk… There’s something I have to tell you. Or show you, I guess. Please don’t be mad. I would have never- I’m sorry. But it’s your name. It’s you.”
Credence approaching him with an air of nervousness didn't set off any particular alarms- he always seemed to be nervous, after all- nor did the babbling. Only when he mentioned his name did Percival's expression shift from thoughtfulness to shock. For a few seconds he assumed that the boy was just confused, but then again how confusing could a person's name in very plain lettering be? Then his mind skipped to pure disbelief. Surely it was just some mistake, or he was just lying outright. "Let me see." He stifled his voice to a low, vaguely interested murmur despite the anxious clawing in his stomach.

❝ soon that attitude might be your doom. ❞

❝ I would watch my TONGUE if I were you, ❞ Grindelwald purred, smoothing black hair away from his face. The irony was laughable ; here he stood, wearing his face, living his life. A hand flicked out ; the tip of the wand it clutched dragged across the other man’s jaw, pressing INTIMATELY against a pulse point. Would it JUMP for him ? Would it beat in fear ? Or would it stay steady and solid, like the man before him ?
❝ You aren’t in much of a position to use that BITING wit. ❞ He tsked, slipping the wand into his coat pocket. Standing above Graves, he twisted his wrist, tightening the binds that kept the man locked to the floor. ❝ Unless, of course - did you want to be PUNISHED ? ❞ Snide. He reached out and gripped Graves’ jaw in his hand. A smirk blossomed on his lips.
❝ Tell me, Graves, how long had you believed this charade could go on ? Did you hope that you’d be free by now ? You aren’t too discouraged, are you ? ❞
Grindelwald’s tone made his near-empty stomach churn. He refused to make it so evident that he was growing weaker, though Graves was sure he already knew. A thick brow lifted as a short, bitter laugh scratched its way up his throat. “You are me, aren’t you?” His head tipped to the side, only for his skin to be met by the cool wood of a wand.
Weary eyes closed. A moment of reflection.
Percival was consumed not by fear for himself ( though he couldn’t lie and say he was without that concern ), but for the rest of the world should he be unable to escape. His Aurors were utterly incompetent, a fact that had appalled him on a daily basis before his kidnap. Perhaps his only hope was Picquery, and she was far too busy to notice anything off until it was too late. He was content only in the knowledge that Grindelwald couldn’t kill him - not until he had achieved his means, at least.
As his restraints bit into the already tender, raw skin of his wrists his jaw clenched. A slow, warm line working down his arms told him that his captor had again drawn blood. None of the stereotypes poured from his lips: that Seraphina would realize the truth, that he would escape, that he “wouldn’t get away with this.” The odds of any of those things happening were too slim for him to attempt to fool himself, much less Grindelwald. Instead, his lips pulled up and he s p a t through his teeth at the man who had stolen his face, stolen his life.

“Now you just stay sitting right there. Don’t strain yourself or you’ll probably bust those stitches my husband just applied.” Aethra said as she saw their new guest waking up. “You’re safe here; just relax.”
Percival groaned as he stirred and his head rolled to the side. Everything ached, but that wasn’t terribly new. Tired eyes blinked a few times before landing on the source of the voice. “Where…?” His voice was hoarse, scratching at his throat from disuse, and the single word was all he could manage without feeling as if he had swallowed razorblades.
“You’re in St Albans not far from London.” Aethra supplied as she walked closer to try and give him some water, a straw in the glass to try and make it easier. “My husband found you and brought you here.”
St Albans… What was he doing in St Albans? Percival carefully sat up. He couldn’t even identify what had happened to him or where the stitches she had mentioned were located. His entire body seemed to ache, a dull, throbbing pain in some places, sharp in others, and even some burning sensations. “Thank you,” he murmured as he lifted entirely too weak arms to take the water.
Aethra bit her lip to stop herself from telling him not to move, even though she desperately wanted to. Instead she waited before stepping closer to help him drink.
“Careful now, we don’t want you to drink too much too quick.”
If she weren't a kind woman who seemingly only wanted to help, he might have snapped at her for acting like his mother. He probably needed to be tended to, as much as he hated it. Percival guided the straw to his lips carefully, his throat tensing as the first clean water he had tasted in months touched it. Her warning was helpful, as he wanted to gulp every last drop down in an instant, but stopped himself- he would only get sick if he gorged himself on water, and then feel even worse. Graves restricted himself to a few small sips before he lowered the glass, running his tongue over the back of his teeth to remind himself of the cool liquid.
continued from an ask for @likervts
“Cleaning it up was a menace, but after that it was all gone, and I was fine. It’s done now.” Modesty had rarely told a more outright lie. What came afterwards was at least as bad as scrubbing up the slippery, dark liquid, if not worse.
The blood stained her eyes, her soul; for a long time after, she saw nothing else, and it was accompanied by a dark coldness which permeated her entire body.
The blood was there when she shut her grey eyes in the dark, in her bed. It was there when she went to sleep and when she woke up. Her hands were constantly dripping with it.
“Though I did get in awful trouble for getting my dress so stained; the blood came out of the floor and walls with some elbow grease, but not my clothes. But you don’t have to be sorry. I am the one who should have stopped it.”
Percival was not a weak man. He had seen too much, been through too much, done too much to be weak. But the girl before him came far too close to bringing him to tears.
He should have, could have done more to help her, and the other children Mary-Lou had “taken under her wing.” The thought of the horrors these innocents had faced at her hands made him sick. There was a very real evil in the world, but it didn't lie in the hands of witches.
It was obvious to him that Modesty was hurting. Her eyes weren’t quite focused, and there was a certain dull quality in them that he was all too familiar with. As much as he wanted to take the pain away, he knew that he couldn’t, and that was what stung the most. “That responsibility was not and is not on you,” Graves murmured, shaking his head. She was so small, how could she have done anything?
“Modesty, I...,” his voice trailed off and he glanced aside as he contemplated his next words. “There are a lot of things that I don’t know.” He reached out to take her hand with great care, not wanting to startle her. As he met her eyes again, he gave her hand a little shake for emphasis. “But I know that you did not deserve to go through that, and I know that it was more than you could have stopped.”
looks can be PLEASING — yet so deceiving
Newt: Do you love me?
Graves: ...It's three in the fucking morning.
Newt: That's not an answer to my question.
Graves: I -MARRIED- you.
Newt: Yes, but as a friend kind of marriage, or as, like, a marriage marriage? I'm a bit unclear. Do you love me, or are you in love with me?
Graves: I'm going back to sleep.
Newt: Percy.
Newt: Percy.
Newt: Percy.
Newt: Percy! Answer me!
Graves: Yes! For the love of Morgana, a thousand times yes! Now go to sleep, damn it!

Soulmates!AU Sentence Meme
“Come ooonn, I’m really hungry! You’re the one supposed to feed me.”
“Do you ever think what it’d be like if we had the same marks? If it were you and me?”
“Do you love me? And not because you’re supposed to.”
“Do you think I’ll ever find it? The one with a mark on their arm saying they have to be with me?”
“Do you think there’s more than one? More than one soulmate for each one?”
“Do you think sex with a soulmate could ever be better than this? Because I doubt it.”
“Get out of work? Just tell them your soulmate needs you.”
“God, I love you so much. I know what I said before, but you’re everything I think about, everything I want, I don’t wanna turn my back on this. I don’t care what a piece of paper says or doesn’t. I’d still want this, you, if it didn’t say a thing.”
“Hell, no! You get that erased right now! It’s not me!”
“I can’t believe you’re it. From all the people- You can’t be. I hate you.”
“I got your letter. I know we never talked before, but you sent your number and… Do you think we can meet? And yes, it’s your name too.”
“I know I always say I don’t want to know, I don’t want to get it, the marker, but knowing for sure there’s someone out there for you, no matter what… I can’t say it isn’t tempting.”
“I know you’re horny. I can literally feel it. And it’s not helping me focus at all. So can’t you deal with it?”
“I know neither of us have markers, but I’m pretty sure they’d be glowing right now if we did.”
“I know this is not ideal, but I’m willing to try if you are.”
“I know you’re scared, I’m fucking scared too, but this says we got each other for life, that’s gotta be worth something, right?”
“I thought I’d never find you. Are you scared?”
“I’m scared as hell. But I still want to go through with it, I want to be able to prove it to anyone, let’s do this, let’s get the markers.”
“If I knew sex could be this amazing, I would have searched the name a long time ago.”
“If someone had warned me I would end up here… I would still have chosen you. I’ll always choose you.”
“It’s me…? Hell, it’s me. It really is me. You’re ruined.”
“Look at it! Don’t turn away. Can you see it? It’s a perfect match. I’m sorry if it sucks that it’s me. But it’s true. You can’t run from this.”
“No! No, it can’t be! That’s not-, no that’s not it… [Name] I can’t be your name… It’s not possible because… You’re not mine.”
“Our chests might not glow, but I would do anything for you, I’d go anywhere, I love you, and if that’s not soulmate material, than I don’t want to find my soulmate.”
“Okay, name one time pretending to be soulmates got us in trouble.”
“Please don’t ask me to leave. I want you so much it hurts. I never thought it could feel like this.”
“Promise me, promise me you’ll give us a chance before you go and get your mark done. Promise me.”
“So what? Just because a thing on my wrist glows I’m suddenly supposed to rebuild my whole life around you? Please. You’re fucking insane. This is fucking insane. Get the hell out.”
“This is just too hard. This soulmate thing. I know they say I’m your only chance. But I can’t do this. I’m sorry. You’re gonna have to find another way. I can’t be your soulmate.”
“We have to talk… I’ve met him/her. I’ve met the one. I can’t do this, I can’t marry you tomorrow.”
“We’re done. Mark or not mark. We’re done here. Don’t call me.”
“What if it never happens to me? Do you ever get scared about it?”
“What’s wrong?? I could feel in how much pain you were just now. God, I’m still shaking.”
“Why don’t you ever let me see it? If you have the name already, why can’t you tell me whose is it? I thought we were best friends.”
“Yes, I’m still scared! What if this is just a mistake? What if it passes someday and you don’t love me for me? What will be left then?”
“Yes, we’re soulmates! I get it, now shut up and fuck me, because I’m pretty sure it’s one of your duties.”
“You know, for someone who’s supposed to be my soulmate, you really need a new wardrobe. Or a new whole taste.”
“You know sometimes, some people, they don’t ever find a match, right? Do you still want to know?”
“You’re it okay?? I don’t know how, I don’t know why, all I know is that you’re the only one that will do, it hurts like goddamn hell, and I don’t-I just need you to let me in, please.”
“You’re my soulmate, I don’t need something telling me that.”
“(Name)? We need to talk… There’s something I have to tell you. Or show you, I guess. Please don’t be mad. I would have never- I’m sorry. But it’s your name. It’s you.”
