the betrayal of self common to entrenchment with demons is mirrored in attachment to the divine ok
Perhaps if there was some sort of "Middle Path" one could take...
when it’s really bad again and it’s still way better than it used to be but it’s still really bad. and you do all the right stuff and you try and try and it still really hurts but it’s working but it still hurts and you go see the beautiful majesty of nature and your soul is so close to being at peace but your mind is still in pain. and it’s better but it’s still bad. and the sun is setting.

On Gendering, Ungendering, and (Mis)Perceiving Trans People
MY LATEST ESSAY IS OUT! I've been frustrated by most takes on so-called "Transvestigation," which cover it as a "bizarre" conspiracy theory, the implication being that *the rest of us* see gender and trans people “normally” or “correctly.” And frankly, nothing could be further from the truth! So in this long-read, I unpack the phenomenon and explain why and how it happens, but also explore more mundane (yet nevertheless fucked up) ways in which we perceive and interpret gender and sexual minorities. No-paywall link, please give it lots of "claps" & share widely!
i hate making accounts. what do you need my email address for you little pervert
do genuinely find it fascinating how indeed.com is like the biggest job-hunting website out there and yet manages to be profoundly useless in every possible way
i apply for a job. i never hear back.
i search for "entry level jobs". i am shown listings for things like "military intelligence officer", "senior veterinary surgeon", and "forklift engineer".
i search for "jobs in bookselling". i am told that there are 9 bookselling jobs in my area. when i read the listings, 8 of these 9 jobs are care assistant roles and the 9th is a pyramid scheme.
i search for "jobs within 5 miles of my location". i am shown jobs that are on the other side of the country.
i type in "proofreading". i am shown listings for "ai training".
i search "creative industry jobs". half the listings are for finance companies and the other half require a degree in data science.
i receive an email. "based on your profile, indeed thought you would be a great match for this opportunity!" the linked job requires a degree that i do not have and 5 years of experience in a field that i know nothing about. the email does not explain why this opportunity would be "a great match".
i receive an email. "based on your profile, indeed thought you would be a great match for this opportunity!" underneath, in the body of the emaill, it warns me that i will not be able to apply for the job it has sent me because i do not meet the criteria.
i apply for a job with a temp agency. i never hear back. 2 weeks later the agency website goes down and never comes back up again.
i apply for a job. 6 months later i get a stock email telling me my application has been unsuccessful.
i apply for a job. i never hear back.
The way i use any job search engine is I look for a position I can do and instead of applying through indeed I search the employer on (preffred search engine here) and in their company website find the position in the careers tab if that is available, usually i find the position that was on indeed or at least another position that i am qualified for in the same company and apply that way.
Sometimes i go through the company directory (if available) and email HR or the generic hiring email address To whom it may concern I saw advertised (position name) attached is my resume I believe i would be a good candidate for the position because (reason) thank you for the opportunity.
I know nobody asked for this but maybe it might help someone somewhere get hired who is struggling. I personally went through what OP said for years before getting this little piece of advice from someone else and now I work somewhere that doesnt make me want off myself and paid reasonably.
Pain is often associated with an intense feeling experienced in the moments following injury. An obscuring of the ego in a moment of sharp focus. We use the same word, Pain, to describe the lingering fallout of this experience. Aches are the consequence of the initial injury.
But sometimes the Pain comes in with the tide and is left beached upon the body. Too dangerous to be handled directly, the Pain is managed, studied, coaxed- in the effort of someday pushing it back out. But every day that the Pain lingers in the sand, it secretes its toxins into the ground. With each day, the consequences of the Pain grow, damaging not just the beach, but now the homes and businesses inland, infecting the groundwater and local fauna.
The scientists and emergency workers are doing everything they can to quarantine the thing and stop the damage from spreading further. One of them stops for a smoke by the water, and that’s when they see a building wave approaching- perhaps the opportunity has finally come to wash away the Pain and all the damage it has incurred. The worker returns to the site and gathers everyone on the edge of the beach to watch their trouble finally sent back to where it came from.
On the wave’s final break before the shoreline, the scientists and workers hold to each other, their work finally coming to an end. And in that moment, each and every one of them is paralyzed by the searing white heat, the harbinger, and witness their newest project as it is pitched into the town center
