warnings: character death, majorly angsty, hurt/no comfort, blood, NO HAPPY ENDING
Blood. There was blood everywhere. It poured from his mouth, seeped through his clothes–got on your hands. All over you.Â
“Eddie. Eds, c’mon. You’re okay. You can make it but you have to get up alright?” You cried, your voice a thin, thready thing.Â
Your eyes scanned his pale skin. The chittering of the demobats in the background almost a cruel mockery of your sorrow. Dark grey and blue hues of the Upside Down taunted you, the red lighting that flashed occasionally piercing your heart every second you spent down there. Eddie gurgled and smiled through bloody teeth. The red painted across the white in strokes.Â
“I didn’t–I didn’t run away this time, right?” Eddie was slightly pleading. He had a boyish smile on his face. Tears streaked across his temples, washing away the buildup of dirt and grime and whatever the hell else was down here.
You gently cradled him, combing through his matted curly locs. A deep sigh escaped you as you tried to prevent yourself from crumbling into sobs right then and there.Â
“You didn’t run away.” You whimpered, your voice thick with the pain of holding back tears. The lump in your throat grew and throbbed. Your hand caressed his cheek gently. In his eyes, you could see the light slowly fading. “Please don’t leave me.” Your voice cracked and split into two, agony sewn into every word.Â
“I’m not going anywhere, sweetheart.” Eddie used what strength he had left to wipe away a stray tear that was making its way down your cheek. He let out a gentle huff. “Don’t cry, don’t waste your tears on me. You’re too pretty for me to make you cry.” He smiled again.
You took in a shuddering breath and nodded. Then you closed your eyes as if it might protect you from the pain and whispered, “I love you so much it hurts, Eddie.”
When you opened your eyes, you could see the light had faded from his. It was as if you were looking at a wax statue of the man you loved.
He was gone.
Forever.
You two would never get your happy ending. He would never get to live a real life. One where he could be himself without fear and judgment. It was all over.
The realization was almost numbing. Once you began to think about all the things you would never get to do with the love of your life, you shut down more and more. Your limbs felt impossibly heavy, and the chill of death had already begun to seep into Eddie’s body.Â
You gently pressed your lips to his forehead before standing.Â
“Goodbye, Eds.”
You limped back to the mobile home, covered in his blood. You’d climbed the rope and made it back to the real world in a haze. You lifted your heavy eyes toward Dustin, and seeing his face twisted with sorrow and a deep pain that you knew would never go away was all it took for the tears to start to fall.

summary:
“You, uh, you have pretty eyes.” Michael gave you a shaky smile.
“Yeah? Did you find any new cuts or bruises?” You huffed, cheeks tinged with a light blush at his unprompted compliment.
“Nope. Still perfect.” Michael gently tapped your nose with the tip of his finger, flashing you his signature grin. The one that always got your heart pumping and your face heating.

warnings: kissing, mentions of blood
“Michael, for the millionth time, I’m fine.” You insisted. Michael completely disregarded your sentiments. He gently rotated your face in his hands to check for any bruising or marring that might’ve been missed despite you being checked out by a hospital and multiple FBI agents.Â
“I just need to make sure. I need…just—just let me, alright?” Michael’s voice was more desperate and pleading than you’d ever heard before, so you acquiesced.Â
His soft fingers ran down the curve of your face. He lightly took your chin between his thumb and forefinger to bring your face upwards. Michael cleared his throat before speaking, his voice was shaky, unsure of himself, everything that The Michael Townshend wasn’t. He was cocky and overconfident. Not to mention reckless. He had been extremely reckless tonight, and if anything, you should be checking on him.Â
“You, uh, you have pretty eyes.” Michael gave you a shaky smile.

“Nope. Still perfect.” Michael gently tapped your nose with the tip of his finger, flashing you his signature grin. The one that always got your heart pumping and your face heating.
You rolled your eyes at his comment. “Yeah, okay.” You said in disbelief. Michael flirts with anything that walks.
“No. I–I mean it.” Michael’s playboy grin softened into something more meaningful. “Tonight was…really scary. And I thought—when you went down—when Locke hurt you, I was scared. Like more terrified than I’d ever been in my life.” Michael’s smile faded completely as he revealed himself.
Your brows furrowed in confusion. Cassie was the one who was getting thrown around like a ragdoll by Locke and she was the one he wanted. You didn’t get it. Sure, you got your head thrown into a wall, but it was mostly superficial. You only suffered a mild concussion.
“Why?” Your voice came out harsher than intended, as all your feelings rushed to the surface. It was unfair he was doing this to you. Revealing himself, being vulnerable, touching you, teasing you, when all he wanted was Cassie. You’d come to terms with the fact that he could never love you like you loved him a long time ago. But now he was doing this, dredging up all these feelings and you just couldn’t take it anymore. “Why are you doing this Michael?” Your voice was hard and angry.
“Doing what, Love?” Michael sat beside you on your bed nudging your shoulder with his own. Hints of leather and rich sandalwood invaded your senses. You moved away from Michael so you could think clearly.
“You know what! Just give it to me straight. Don’t play hot and cold with me anymore. I’m sick of it.” You scoffed.
Michael moved closer to you and took your face in his hands. He tucked a stray strand of hair behind your ear and tilted you so that you were looking directly into his hazel eyes.
“Tonight was the scariest thing I’d ever experienced because you got hurt. She slammed you into that wall and you didn’t get back up and there was so much blood and I–I couldn’t help you. That killed me. Shredded me to bits. You want me to give it to you straight? Fine. I like you. A lot. I actually think I might be in love with you. And that scares me. And tonight…it felt like I almost lost you and I don’t know what I would-”
You gripped Michael by his sweatshirt and pressed your lips together with no hesitation. He tensed at first, but instantly melted into your touch. He held your face, gently caressing the apple of your cheek with his thumb.
“I think I might be in love with you too.” You huffed, breaking the kiss for a split second before pressing your lips together again.
I think people need to realize that fanfic authors are doing US a service. They have their own lives and jobs, most of the time are not getting paid to do this, and a good portion of them don't even use their real names so it's not like they're getting formal recognition that could lead to job opportunities either. Writing fanfiction is not a job it's a hobby and the readers are not the author's employers. Be patient with authors. They don't owe you their beautiful writing. And if you don't like the direction they take a story or their writing in general, you are always free to write your own damn fanfic. Please can we be humans again and have basic decency instead of badgering people who we don't even really know online. It's sickening to see. And nine times out of ten a positive comment is what motivates an author to keep writing not a negative one. Please let's be kind to our authors.
DISCLAIMER: (This isn't targeted towards anyone specific I've just noticed an uptake in negativity towards authors lately)
