the amazing digital circus is a show about empathy and what it does to you if you go too long without a support system so the show starts with sympathizing with Pomni (the most empathetic person, easy), ep2 is empathizing with an NPC in a game (no flaws), ep3 is empathizing with a man who has dementia, ep4 is empathizing with someone who annoys you when they're unmasking, ep5 is asking you to empathize with a rich white woman and so on....
so it all works up to the empathy boss - a bush era edgelord millenial trans girl who thinks she's Max from Sam & Max and is inherently unworthy of love
and some people failed the empathy test
Exactly the show is not asking you to forgive her the show is asking to empathize with her those are different things
one of the decisions of all time
i was starting worry people didn't know how much i love digital circus i had to do something
samsara
i was scanning through all my story ideas for a victim for my tadc alternative ending dream i had and found the perfect one hehe
so if you want something similar to tadc that focuses mostly on characters and having the place they're trapped in relate to their issue and traumas more then uhhh stay tuned for like a year or something i'm sure i'll make it at one point
maybe
tadc episode 10 dream
so on june 17th i had this dream that the finale came out on youtube and the whole conformity gate thing was actually real and it was a secret episode 10
it continued after episode 9 and there was a new, much bigger problem and it just went FULL existential arthouse mode. it was genuinely so so beautiful and bittersweet and existential and it had this whole vibe of 'things matter so much less than they already did and now we just have to continue existing' and it was a much darker ending than the actual show but it was also so beautiful
i did originally really really want to share this dream and just type out the whole thing here but it was that good of an idea to me that i must keep it a secret and use it in a show myself sorry i think this is my toby fox moment stay tuned

i could theoretically spend another 2 hours making this perfect but will i?
idk maybe at some point i've spent too long on this rn though
wanted to make some uhh vent art i don't think i've posted that before
drew her in one of my fav outfits <3
"if Jax is a trans woman she's still an abuser so she's bad representation so the show is transphobic" you're an idiot. you want your blorbos to be perfect ideal angels, I want my blorbos to be realistic, nuanced, flawed human beings, we are not the same. I LIKE that she's messy and fucked up and problematic, I think it's a realistic depiction of how a lot of repressed and traumatized trans women are. I think the show goes to great lengths to explore how and why she is the way she is, and to evoke sympathy for this kind of person. it doesn't excuse her actions but it does make them understandable. and I think the fact women like that deserve sympathy is an idea worth stating and worth shouting. yes she's a bully and she hurt everyone around her and that may never change. she still deserves sympathy.
my lil character refs !!
i've had a massive surge of passion for my own project now that a 3 year hyperfixation has come to an end and its such a complex feeling cause like im so glad im getting passion for my own cartoon back but like what do you mean thats only because my favourite cartoon is over
more silly indie show stuff
pilot thing !!
if anyone is looking for new indie shows to watch now tadc is over i have a goofy ahh pilot in the works
Porque te vas
thank you gooseworx <3
i won't include any spoilers in this post but i loved episode 9. it had problems sure but it hit all the right emotional beats for me. as someone who can relate to a lot of the themes in the episode, SO many scenes hit me real hard and i cried for the last 10 minutes.
digital circus is THE most important piece of media in my life. i've been here since the pilot first dropped and this is no exaggeration, it became my favourite thing ever and carried me through life for the last 3 years. everything was shit (domestic abuse moment lol) everyday but i'd keep going to see the next episode, it meant everythinngggg to me. for that one half an hour every few months, i would be the happiest.
i got out of my abusive relationship and ended up finding an amazing human right before episode 8 dropped and for the first time i could watch the newest episode with someone. we ended up getting to meet the cast together and it was genuinely the best day of my life. we saw the finale in cinema together and it's so crazy to think how miserable my life was during the pilot days and through the majority of the show, to how amazing it is now as the show concludes.
i'm going to miss it more than any other show before. idc if this post is cringe or whatever i just really needed to write on final expression of just how much show means to me. i have a pomni tattoo booked in!
thank you so so much gooseworx, thank you so much to glitch and the cast and to the whole fandom because this journey has been amazing and i will never forget this show and the people i bonded over it with <3
getting it all out of my system now (sorry she looks a bit wobbly head)
gooseworx i am so so sorry a lot of people just STILL don't get it
A reminder that darker fiction has a right to exist and explore themes that people are uncomfortable with. Yes, even if it's romanticized. Yes, even if you personally don't like it.
Authors have always written about things that they don't agree with morally, and I hope to god they always will, despite how shitty people treat them for doing that now.
people can write about whatever they want, your discomfort and triggers don't entitle you to being the god of censorship !!!
