I honestly can’t remember what was going through my head. I drew this years ago. It’s possible I was working from an explicit description of a ritual to become a Talon, or I may have been taking creative license. Either way, it was something to do with Talon coronation.

Emmrich is really a romantic who has dreamed of love and marriage for decades and never found it.

Remember, his parents died in a collapsed building when he was a boy, so if he had distant relatives, they never took him in.

He dreamed of getting married. Oh my godddd. "I always thought ..."

As if he's given up. It's too late, he thinks.

HARDINGGGG-

I fully believe him.

We know Emmrich dated a healthy amount. An Orlesian woman who was an art dealer is the one we know from convos with Lucanis. ("She taught me many things that summer.") It's also implied that the relationship ended because she couldn't commit in the 'long-run.'

Marriage.

I mean, it would, yeah. Yeah.

One thing that screws me so up about the emmrich romance in Veilguard is the fact that before rook ends up missing, they have an argument.

Emmrich tried to apologize in the middel of the mission after that evening and Rook reasured them " we will talk when we get home. Promise" just for rook to end up vanising right infront of his eyes. One friend dead, one taken thou the eluvian and then this. The person he loves but hurt just vanished after he call out to pull the dagger out of the dead elven godess. Gone without a warning. Without a body to burry and mourn and no one can't stay and search for them because the other elven god is burning the islend down.

Weeks go by and no one knows if rook is even alive but they can't affort to lose hope. He can't affort to lose hope.

Assan sneaked into rooks room, i wonder if manfred did the same and when he did, was emmrich able to get him out of there on his own? did they tried to recreate the dagger to save Rook? All this work with lyrium, which is so hard to do just for the dagger not be able to cut the fate open. Emmrich is the specialist for the fate and this kind of magic, so he probably worked on that dagger. That hope to save his rook and then after weeks, many nights wondering if they can find them finally Rook is save but emotionally broken. Emmrich is the one to pull first, and after that holding there rook and wondering what they went throu in that time to be so devestated.

I will never forgive bioware not to give us an glimbs of how they reacted after saving rook.

MAN i can't stop loving the Emmrich Romance in Veilguard.

At first i really thought that my Crow!Rook would be the "of fun" in the "someone will die" meme because this man had so much going on and before as a crow that the only way he can not lose his mind is throu jokes. But No. Emmrich is such a sunshine for a Necromancer that Crow!Rook would kill for him. Litterly. Also Funny that for Emmrich and all his personal fears he could fell for an Assasin pfff
