just fyi, the gaza gofundme you reblogged is likely a scam. the beneficiary listed is a private profile that is linked to most of the current donation scams going around. the photo is present on two online libraries i could find. all of the update posts i tested return flagged as 100% ai generated if you run them through an ai detector like gptzero.
part of my job is vetting gofundmes like this, and not everyone knows how to verify them. i completely get it! you intend to help and mean very well, and i certainly can't fault you for that. not all of these gofundmes are scams, but unfortunately a great many of them are. especially on tumblr. trust, but verify, yknow?
i would recommend, prior to sharing:
-running donation site images through a reverse image search or just checking online image libraries for the tag gaza. they are usually within the most recent pictures; this one was
-running any provided text through an AI detector like gptzero. i use it to even check resumes and cover letters to tell you how much i trust it.
-checking who the listed beneficiary is. if it's a private profile connected to other, identical AI generated campaigns, it's definitely a scam.
Oh. I see. Thank you for informing me of this important matter.
Far more important, needless to say, than merely spam-reblogging fundraiser posts. It's super heckin valid and all but it is also indicative of being an entry-level social justice warrior
