current team at this point
There’s a cave to the east of the city that is filled with Diglett! I caught one and named her Hilda. She has a tendency to ruin floors if I send her out indoors, but I think she means well. I’ve heard the gym trial in this city is electric type, so Hilda should be very good for that! Unfortunately, I can’t get to his gym because there’s a tree blocking the path. What kind of gym captain does that? I guess I’ll explore to the east and then check out the S.S. Anne.
I found a pokemon fan club! It’s so nice to meet so many people who are interested in pokemon. The owner was a little bit weird, but he gave me a voucher for one of those expensive bikes in Cerulean City, so I guess he’s okay. And now I have a bike! Getting around is so much easier now.
Ugh! More Team Rocket goons. This one robbed a family and ruined their house! I’m starting to see how Moon could stand up to those Team Skull goons so easily back in Alola. These guys are all talk, but when it comes down to it, they’re not very good trainers. They mostly just gang up on defenseless kids and people who have no pokemon. Anyways, I headed south towards Saffron city, but apparently the gates to the city are closed. I guess I’ll just have to avoid Saffron until that issue clears itself up. It didn’t end up being much of an issue since there was a tunnel going under the city and leading to Vermilion. I caught a Meowth on the way there, but the last trainer before the city had a bunch of strong pokemon, and eventually he knocked out Hattie. I don’t want to get used to my friends dying. I have to be stronger.
Starmie’s a tough pokemon. I’m glad I came with lots of Super Potions, because Poppy nearly fainted like three times to that Starmie! Fortunately, Poppy eventually got the upper hand, and I managed to win without anyone fainting. Good job, Poppy!
I didn’t see Bill at first when I went into his house, because apparently he transformed himself into a pokemon? I’m not sure I even want to know how that works. Anyways, he gave me a pass to the S.S. Anne cruise ship in Vermillion. Apparently there are a lot of good trainers there, so I’ll be sure to go once I make it to Vermillion! Now it’s back to Cerulean City so I can do the gym trial. Apparently it’s a water type trial, so Poppy should come in handy!
I have bad news. There are some trainers on the way to Bill’s house. One of them had a Spearow that managed to hit Shellie right in his weakest spot, and he fainted. I’m so, so, so sorry Shellie. You were my first friend in Kanto and now you’re gone and I can’t bring you back. I have to be more prepared next time. I guess Magikarp is a water type, although Gooby is just not the same as having Shellie there. He’ll have to do.
Alright, I got all healed up at the pokemon center and went back out to meet Bill! There were some grassy patches along the way. One of them jumped out at me because it was actually a pokemon called Oddish! She seems happy now that I’ve caught her. I named her Poppy. Welcome to the team, Poppy!
After taking a break at the Cerulean pokemon center, I decided to head up north across the bridge since everyone was talking about some guy named Bill. As soon as I got on the bridge, Blue Jr. showed up and demanded I battle him! He’s gotten a lot tougher. I don’t know how he does it. I was lucky that I still had some potions left over from Mt. Moon, because I had no time to prepare for this one and my pokemon really needed the help. No one fainted, thank goodness. After that, I ended up on some sort of trial on the bridge! There were five trainers I had to beat in a row. At the end of the nugget bridge there was another trainer, this weird guy who was trying to convince me to join Team Rocket. Obviously I said no and gave him a piece of my mind. I wish I knew why all these Team Rocket members are around here...
I made it through! There were a bunch of people calling themselves Team Rocket in there. They seemed like bad people like those Team Skull guys back in Alola, except this time I had pokemon so I didn’t have to cower in fear! I gave them all a piece of my mind and moved on through the cave. At the end there were these two fossils, but another kid wanted to take one of them, so I ended up taking the dome fossil. Fossils are so cool! I wonder if I’ll find someone who can study this one and tell me what it was? On the other side of Mt. Moon, I was pretty exhausted, but before I could make my way to the next town, I got attacked by a snake pokemon! It was a tough battle, but eventually I caught her. I’m calling her Sneaky because I didn’t even notice when she was creeping up on me to attack! She’s very nice once you get to know her though, and she gives the best hugs!
Whew, Mt. Moon is huge! I’ve had to come back to the entrance a couple of times now to heal everyone. I met a friend in the cave! He’s a Zubat, and I named him Zoob. Anyways, I’m heading back in. Hopefully, this time I’ll make it through! Wish me luck!
Some guy in the pokemon center sold me a Magikarp for 500. I think it was supposed to be a ripoff? But I’ve seen what they grow up into, and I’m not seeing a problem here. Anyways, his name is Gooby. One more for the pokedex!
There’s a lot of tough trainers out here! Shellie looked like he was about to pass out, but I had a potion ready for him. Oh yeah! I also found a new friend on the path leading up to Mt. Moon! It’s a Spearow who I named Nora. I think she really loves the food I’ve been giving her. She makes these little chirpy noises that are really cute, and that’s about the only time she looks happy. She’s a lot more like Skree than like...the other bird that I caught. It’s hard for me to look at her and not be reminded of Kook. I promise I’ll do better for Nora.
Oh! Also my Critter is a Butterfree now! She’s incredibly pretty. I’m so glad I kept her on my team.
There’s a gym in Pewter City! I know how tough the trials were, even for someone like Moon, so I stocked up on potions and walked right back into that forest to train. When I came out, I felt confident and ready, so I went into the gym with Shellie and came out with a badge! And no one got hurt either! I think if I make sure I’m prepared, then I can make it through this gym challenge! On my way out of the city, this guy gave me some running shoes which are really comfy, and he told me that next up is Mt. Moon. Let’s see what I find!
Whew! I kinda regret not bringing any repels! I should have known a place with a name like “Viridian Forest” would be crawling with bugs. I’m glad that no one got hurt in there, and that I brought enough antidote. On to Pewter City!
I found a Caterpie! Her name is Critter. She’s a bit slow, but I know they grow up fast. This brought me back to when I was traveling around with Moon, spraying Repels in the face of any pokemon that got too close. What would the Lillie of 6 months ago think about me now, going off on my own and making friends with all these new pokemon? I bet she’d be proud.
