Seemingly out of the blue I said to myself in a Half-Life 1 scientist voice “I seem to be wounded, but I can keep going.” Looked down. Only then consciously realised I had nicked my finger on something and was bleeding slightly.

It’s so sad that students are now relying so heavily on AI for writing essays because they’re missing out on the best part of writing an essay which is when you’re a few paragraphs in and you just reach that flow state where your thought process becomes one with the essay and you’re slamming the keys so hard that you’re on the verge of destroying your laptop. no because really, the basic thought that goes unchallenged and has been internalized by much of the queer community is that transmasc’s presence in a space is potential cause for concern, but our absence never is. We are always at risk of taking up all the air from everyone else, and are never deserving of it. Do you understand what i mean? this is the sort of shame i came to know very quickly as a young trans man online. and I think we should all reflect on that impulse and what greater good exactly its supposed to serve.

and- i will say- this shame didn’t feel all that different at all from being a girl online and having people talk snidely about the interests of young girls or their imposter status in other communities. It absolutely was not a new feeling to be put down and shamed in that way and i think that made it hurt worse.

i played Space Station 14 for the first time yesterday. and it was… an experience. i was hired as a botanist and for my first day i did as i was told. meanwhile my manager was making highly potent drugs in the backstore. up until the point that they, and my other coworker vanished completely. so i was left all alone to deal with all the hydroponics. AT THE SAME TIME, someone showed up for a request, the chemist called me via hologram to ask for a plant that i didnt even know existed, two more people showed up for request, none of my coworkers were in sight. i was panicking dearly, the customers were getting impatient and when my manager finally reappeared, i went into the backstore and cried. 10/10 would relive the horrors of retail customer services.
